WHICH TWO TEAM WILL PROGRESS ?
Re: Champions League 2021/22 | Group A
Of cos Mbappe is playing better, hes been there the main man for yrs, so u cant expect Messi to just outshine him straight away
Anyway, very good game to watch, Leipzig played very well I thought especially amazing pressing, but as usual they lack scorer up front.
As for PSG, the usual guys, Hakimi, Verratti, etc. played well, even Draxler was good. N then of cos M&M~~~!!

Feel for Pep a bit on here, when City get good results nobody priases him, but every poor result everyone jumps n attacks him

It's been well illustrated over the years that nothing he does matters unless he wins the CL. If he ever does it'll just get discredited for the fact it took him a decade to win it again and it needed a billion euros in the process.

sportsczy wrote:Mbappe is playing better than Messi this season. In fact, there's more than just him that's playing better than Messi this season... I'd say a good 5-6 players if not more are playing better than hiim.
Messi, to me, is playing in spurts.... like maybe 30% of the game.
In this game, for example. Mbappe scored the first goal, made the second and got the pk call for the third goal. And besides those 3 decisive moments, he was the one causing problems for Leipzig. Messi is a genius on the ball... but he doesn't work hard enough anymore to get on the ball. So his teammates have to work their way to him as opposed to him coming to the ball.
Mbappe was ridiculous. His link up play is so underrated though. His combinational game doesn't get talked about enough. Add his transition threat and it's not surprising guys like Benz and Messi love playing with him. Once he improves his decision making when cutting in the left (likes to go for the shot when a better pass is available) he'll be up there. I don't blame him for wanting to leave to be the main man elsewhere.
Also I'm starting to think Poch is an idiot and it's disappointing because I'm a fan of his. Messi does not have the legs to play as a winger. Poch is asking a 34 year old 6 time Ballon d'or winner to hug the touchline. I know people like Michael Cox seem to think Messi will be a 'moments' player at PSG like you're suggesting too.
I don't think that will be the case though. He's just not as involved playing wide. It's no surprise PSG scored two quick goals the moment they switched to a 3-5-2 and Messi played more central. He was much more involved when linking up with Verratti. I think once they permanently move to that system you'll see him running games much more.
I think the way moving forward for PSG is a 3-4-3 where they drop to a 5-4-1 with Neymar and Mbappe dropping into the half spaces defensively. Then when they're attacking Messi and Mbappe can interchange between the right and the middle.

Messi-Mbappe-Neymar does not work for all 3 of them no matter the position and how PSG plays.

Re: Champions League 2021/22 | Group A
Mbappe had much more free space because Messi was marked, as he always is with wall of players. That's the benefit of playing standing Messi on the wing. As a decoy, which worked first. Neither really was better than the other when you consider this difference. As example Mbappe only beat four players even though he looked like he was a constant threat. Where as Messi beat seven players, even though he looked like he was standing still. Messi should definitely take penaldos from now on, that's like 10th time he's on hat-trick giving them away for team mates.

Leipzig dominating PSG, leading 1-0 and Dollar even saved a penaldo.

PSG without Messi seems a horrorshow. Mbappe being a complete spectator.

Where is the old man! I knew he was going into retirement, as well as Ramos, but I didn’t expect both to be bedridden!

Lol, Harmonica takes his hyperbole act to PSG following his aging star as he slips into oblivion!
Meanwhile the other aging star keeps bailing his coach and team out with clutch goals.
I’m expecting to hear of demise of his mental state, if it can decline any further!

Harmonica vs Sports is a funny feud
Harmonica will say anything to prop up Messi
Sports will say anything to prop up Ligue 1 and Mbappe even at the expense of Messi
Can't wait until April

2-2 FT
Leipzig was a lot better this time, but that's what missing Messi does. Mbappe had a complete stinker, missing two 1on1's. A point saved by Weiner and Dollarsmile.

Re: Champions League 2021/22 | Group A
Midfield was non-existent. The only danger was Mbappe outpacing people to goal, a couple of times from the freakin center circle. Neymar and Di Maria had a couple of moments too... but it was literally from bypassing the midfield.
The only bad miss from Mbappe was the one where Wijnaldum got him the ball. He was surprised at the pass and snatched it. He thought Wijnaldum was going to shoot. The 1v1s were at full speed where he had to shoot the ball when moving while in a sprint with the CB on his back. The keeper made two good saves there. I thought the CB did a good job pressuring him and not allowing any time to maybe slow down and compose himself for the shots. The attempts were absolutely fine.
Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria had decent games. Wijanuldum and Donarumma had good games. That was it. The rest of the team was atrocious IMO.
Messi wasn't the one missed really because I don't think PSG could afford not having Di Maria defend. The player that was needed = Verratti. No midfield control without him.
A draw was the proper score here.
