farmland saga is much better than the prologue tbh. But can't see it being translate well into anime. won't be surprised if there is non-canon material.


There is a football manga (blue lock) gaining a lot of popularity. Also coming as an anime next year. Interested in it tbh. Seems different than the usual power of friendship.

Hear good things about Blue Lock and Ao Ashi, also Giant Killing (consistently heard this is the best football manga)

Just finished it. One of the greatest anime of all time. Very Tarantino inspired. I went in thinking it'd be an episodic slice of life, so wrong.

not the biggest fan of anime serials, but you're selling it well... will check it out soonish when i finish Leftovers

Watched Odd Taxi. What a great series. Its like a Tarantino-Satoshi Kon hybrid. It just kept getting better and better and had the perfect ending. From the fantastic cast of characters my favorite was Yano the rapper.

Also finished reading Bakuman. Ohba/Obata don't miss, what a duo. Platinum End is getting an anime too this year, will start reading it around that time.

actually tried to start it last night but think i'll wait for a dubbed version to come available... i want to take in all of the scenery in the animation

Just finished Alice in borderland. Definitely in my masterpiece category. Author will never replicate this work again man.

Tokyo Ghoul manga is so damn good until the last arc...its a masterpiece, shame how the anime butchered it.

Watched some really great recent anime over the past few weeks. Violet Evergarden, Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song, Akudama Drive, A Place Further Than The Universe, ID - Invaded.

Vivy and Akudama Drive were masterpieces, among the best I've seen.

Disagree on Akudama Drive, my memory is pretty fuzzy, it looked fucking great visually, had a good start...felt a bit eh halfway through iirc? but the ending was very strong and turned it into a good watch for me

I binged Violet Evergarden last summer myself after eyeing it up for years, it had a lot of mediocre episodes but it has some really memorable ones too, good watch, great OST. Movies were pretty good too.

Hear good things about Vivy.

Currently watching Ousama Ranking which (a couple eps aside) has been phenomenal. Wasn;t on my radar until it started getting insane hype. Based on a self published manga. Definitely recommend the anime.

Also making my way through the Pyscho Pass movies when I;m in the mood, will be starting season 3 soon.

So I watched Golden wind and Stone Ocean.

Golden Wind

It's almost like a refined version of stardust crusaders. I liked it and it was enjoyable however it went quite downhill after the boss reveal. The strength of Golden wind was with its side characters. most of them were amazing. I mean the side characters were even better than Giorno who is comfortably the worst Jojo i have come across so far. He felt like a side character in the entire series. It was bucaletti's story. There were villains of the week with more personality than him lol. I thought because he is Dio's son we are going to expect something great. But guy was more vanilla than vanilla ice cream. Some of my most favourite characters are probably in golden wind though. Risotto was incredible. Much better than Diavolo even. He deserved a better death. Prescotti and pecci were great too.

Honestly didn't like Diavolo. Also thought the final third of golden wind was trash. So convoluted and just boring. lmao at my man Polnareff surviving prime Dio to turn into a tortoise I mean he just needed to ring Jotaro and Golden wind never takes place.

Stone Ocean

Took just 2 episodes for Jolyn to surpass Giorno. She is amazing. Great jojo so far. Love her already. However rest of the characters are shit. No good jobro other than weatherman who only came in the last ep. Still like it though and can't wait for rest of the episodes to hit. Dio's presence and even his name is larger than life. When that Dio music hits ffs :banderas:

speaking of which, why has Jotaro regressed so much? they have nerfed him down to unbelievably low length. My boy took on prime Dio and Kira only to jump by some absolute random stand gtfo.

BRUNO is the MC of P5 for me, I never finished the anime for P5 tbh

not watching P6 as its my least fav part by far, has some good moments but like you say, overall, WOAT cast IMO

and yeah Jotaro has to be nerfed since time stop OP, I think they rationalise it by him living relatively peacefully and having not used the power much? idr exactly

my ranking for the series now that Part 8 is over is

Part 7 > 4 > 2 (anime) Part 3 = 5 > 8 > 6 > 1

stardust crusaders is meh but the final fight is PEAK

From what i have read online Stone ocean anime is much better than reading the manga. Need to see how the rest of it is before judging.

Man the OST in P5 is amazing throughout. Probably why it's so enjoyable to watch.

First Inio Asano manga to get an anime adaptation.

Makes sense this would get an adaptation to anime over his other stuff but I liked it considerably less than most of his other manga. It ended a couple weeks ago.

finally got around to reading (and finishing) this

somewhat embarrassed that I always put if off because I thought the art didn't look appealing

ended up being the most powerfully evocative art I've seen in the medium

Into my top 5, only thing I've read/watched that gave me a similar vibe was, at times, Natsume's Book of Friends

pretty short read too, 140 chapters but the way the art is panelled and the length of the chapters made it a fast read. I'll miss it tbh. Gonna try Aria next.
