Neymar is an idiot as we all know it. Someone threw a racist slur at him? Put on some diapers ffs. He should have been around when I grew up. Racist slurs, not nice things about my mother and my sister, etc... all the time. I dished it back too. Just part of the game.

Yes, racist slurs is not part of the game any more and never ever should be.

Yeah, I have been told some terrible things on a football field but you gotta either take it (and hopefully perform really well) or properly hit the guy (hard tackle or otherwise).

This sneaky sneaky hit Neymar did was neither of those things and thus compounded the issue. But his teammates should thank him tbh as Verrati, Di Maria and Draxler put down some real stinkers out there and wouldn't be covered much since Neymar is the star.

It’s not about being “too serious” it’s about educating people to think past colours and races. Still a long way to go...

Why?  My best friends are from all over the world.  We make fun of each other with racial stereotypes all the time.  It's called self-deprecating humor...  

People today have absolutely no sense of humor.  

Just as an example...  nothing about Saturday Night Live that made it great and funny in the 70s and 80s would fly today.  It was racial...  but absolutely not racist.  All the minorities that worked that show absolutely felt no racism as they've said over and over again.  It's people from the outside that want to project racism where none exists.

It's this new generation that's back country.  You take yourselves way too seriously.

I refuse to look at the world with a lens of race. Just not my thing. But if people want to make themselves miserable and constantly offended, that's up to them i guess.

I don’t know why you mention the 80s or the 90s like it was the greatest time in man kind history. I am sure glad that the stereotypical racist comments people used to make then are not accepted today.

I will also add that if you have founds way for you and your friends to joke about race then good for you, but that doesn’t apply to majority of people. Racism and systemic racism is an issue in most western societies. I just don’t find it acceptable to make light of this situation

Sports I 100% agree with you that people are way too serious and offended easily nowadays but the act of throwing around racial based epithets and all is what further spurns worse forms of racism and that is a problem that wont be eradicated anytime soon. I cannot expect my lack of sensitivity to be shared by others (i.e the masses) so the best choice is eliminating it completely. People are indeed too prone to caring what others think and say and not doing so I consider a near superpower but contextually speaking, racial contexts has no place on the field.

Nah. It’s really not cool to do that and yes, it’s all gone.

If fans were making monkey sounds and chanting as such, we would be up in arms about it.

It’s the same thing when a player says something to another player, heat of the moment or otherwise. There are many ways to talk trash without being racist.
