"What should Barca do next?" Good question. If you find the answer, please forward it to Madrid.

Re: What should Barca do next?
our situation is different than theirs'(and better). on the pitch, we are underperforming, they are performing at optimal level. thats something the coach has to figure out for us. in the market, we can sign players, like we can actually get both mbappe and haaland (not saying that we will, but its not out of the realm of reality and hopefully we aggressively pursue it), we have shed some wages in varane, ramos, and most likely bale's will be next, so we have the money and the appeal
with their loss of messi, the appeal isnt strong, kun signed for them cos of messi, nobody is running there cos they wonna play with pique busquets and jessica alba. not to mention, their money issue which turned out to be crazier than i thought.... two different situations, we are just underperforming and hopefully carlo can figure that out...season's still very early though

Get rid of the high earning clan that didn't leave the club. Then start a search for a coach.

lol it's way too early to proclaim Gavi as anything. this kid has played like 5 games. Pedri was wonderful for an entire season and had a great Euros. Frenkie has been doing it for a while now.

Re: What should Barca do next?
Can we not get excited at every Barca kid after a few games? Endless list of them turned out to flop over the yrs. I hope Im wrong n La Masia can produce etlite talent all the time, but just feel thats too good to be true?

Re: What should Barca do next?
I mean its long overdue La Masia produced a quality midfielder. Thiago Alcantara was probably the only one in the last decade

Laporta after la liga president's recent comment on keeping messi...
“I did hope that at the last minute Messi would say that he would play for free. I would have liked that and he would have convinced me. I understand that the league would have accepted it. But we cannot ask that of a player of his level.”

Re: What should Barca do next?
its ironic isnt it? people are so quick to yell 'slavery' especially barca when a club doesnt want to allow their player join them. yet he wanted someone to play for him for free for a year? thats closer to slavery than any of the stuff people spew on here about players not wanting to fulfill their contracts.....laporta shudnt even have said this out loud

Marcelo Gallardo and Xavi seem to be the main 2 options. Xavi has reportedly agreed right away.

Re: What should Barca do next?
Knowing Xavi, I think he would wanna go will something more Barcas tradition of 4-3-3 assume, so would just like to anticipate our team when he comes in which should be around a week or two, hopefully in time to prep for the vital Benfica game (assuming we will beat a pretty weak looking Kyiv team), I would have:
Depay/Fati Aguero/Depay Dest/Dembele/Depay/Demir
Pedri/Gavi  Busquets/Nico  De Jong
Alba Pique Eric/Araujo Mingueza/Dest
Stegen
Or if he decides to be more inventive and trendy 3-4-3
Fati/Depay/Pedri Aguero/Depay Dembele/Depay/Demir
Alba Busquets/Pedri De Jong Dest
Lenglet/Eric Pique Araujo/Mingueza
Stegen
Pretty standard if our injured players continue coming back, only question is up front - Depay isnt a real scoring no.9 more of a creator so I definitely prefer Aguero up front with Depay support in behind or more of the wings a bit. Dest can be RW until Dembele comes back, or Fati left n Depay right.
Being optimistic which I havent been for a long time, with the hope that Xavi coming in with bring a positive mood to things n with more players coming back from injuries, the team should start going in the right direction knowing what to do more, pick up confidence and form, and on from there.
Really hope Xavi will be tough when we have players back and especially into the summer when he can afford to let the useless players go - Luuk, Roberto, Cou, Puig, etc.

Re: What should Barca do next?
I don't think he will be hell bent on any given formation. Basically he explained in this video i posted in the other thread that he adjusts in relation to the opponent in order to achieve numerical superiority in every line.
He says attitude with which you approach the game is more important than the formation itself which is true
Its also clear that he draws inspiration from both Peps Barca and Peps Man City in terms of creating overloads in certain areas where the ball travels

Re: What should Barca do next?
Bringing in Xavi as if he will somehow make a frontline of Braithewaite-de Jong-Dembele work
This team is hot garbage, its current level and results is a reflection of its utmost strength, Barca needs a warchest and a competent manager to compete

Re: What should Barca do next?
First of all Xavi comes to lead a long term project, not as a short term solution
2nd, Ansu/Depay-Aguero-Dembele is not a bad front line, definitely enough to be top 3 in the leauge and at least advance from cl group stages.

And how often do you expect that frontline not to be injured?

Re: What should Barca do next?
I dont care really. The idea is for Xavi to build from the ground up. This season is a write off anyway, it cant get worse than it is now as we are losing left and right anyway. What we really need is to set course in a particular direction instead of going in circles

Re: What should Barca do next?
Nobody is expecting miracles or immediately improvement even from Xavi, not realistic cules who actually follow n watch them for a while anyway. Xavi might fail to even make top 4 this season, and it wont be a surprise, since a lot will depend on our injuries situations/level of the other teams/timing of Xavis arrival/finances/luck, just many factors. I dont think most cules expect that much that soon considering our financial issues n the level of our team/players. So I really think it will be a very long term tenure almost like Ole where Xavi will be immune
As for Xavi not coming sooner I think Barca wasnt as bad and in such dire situation b4 compared to now. Basically he knows the situation is shit, but hes still coming since he knows the club really need him right now - we cant afford anyone else good. So I think cules would be very thankful for him agreeing to come help the club now.
