I'm not saying they're not additional income, and certainly big stars help the club in a number of ways, just that this is wrong: "you would expect to make up the purchase price through shirt sales".

Yep, around the time when we sold Alves which was really one of the first disastraous club decisions made under Barto iirc, and then Neymar left, then Rakitic dipped quickly after the WC, and basically everyone started aging + the largely bad replacements we signed over the next few years up until this summer. I don't see why he would want to go there. You already got burnt at a dysfunctional club, you really want to try another one so you can bury your career before it even got started?

For what it's worth, Juve's goal difference, expected goal difference, Elo rating, and FiveThirtyEight SPI all got better during Andrea Pirlo's season in charge (and have gotten worse since he left).

In terms of an actual project, they gotto stop with this stop-gap nonsense. Get a young upcoming coach in, give them time and build around Frenkie and Pedri (the only 2 with world class potetial in their squad). I don't know how the finances will work out for the next few seasons but they gotto try to keep unloading the dead wages.

It's still surreal that Braithwaite and Luuk de Jong are starting forwards for Barcelona lol.

The first thing Barca should do next is to extend with Pedri and Fati. or they are gone next season.
