Demiraaaaaaaaaaal 1-0 at 2' from a set piece, Dybala assist.

This kid will have no shortage of fans, scoring a goal on top of his very aggressive and solid defending.

2-0

Dybala mugged Veretout in the edge of the box and then got fouled by him. Ronaldo scored the pk.

Incredible start to the game

Hope that Demiral injury isn't serious

And felt really sad for Zaniolo after watching his reaction. It's probably a serious injury but let's hope it's not.

Overall decent game but too many scrappy mistakes by both teams.

Loving the performance of Rabiot and Ramsey so far. Ronaldo also looking extremely sharp as is Dybala.

What a stupid penalty to concede, the ball was going out when it hit Alex's arm

And this is just as we're getting Cristante back from an ACL tear.

I don't understand it. Likely never will.

As for the game, I'm pleased with the fight back in the 2nd though I know that some of that was down to Juve taking their foot off the pedal and trying to manage their lead. Had our goal come maybe 10 minutes sooner, we may have gotten an equalizer though we squandered so many chances as well.

I honestly see that as a dive by Dybala. Puts his leg across and throws himself onto the ground. Should not be rewarded. Just score the fucking goal ffs.

All 20 of the ACL tears across both the men's and women's team:

Kevin Strootman (2)
Elio Capradossi
Ezequiel Ponce
Abdullah Nura
Antonio Rudiger
Mario Rui
Alessandro Florenzi (2)
Emerson Palmieri
Luca Pellegrini (2)
Rick Karsdorp
Devid Bouah (2)
Riccardo Calafiori
Davide Zappacosta
Manuela Coluccini
Federica Di Criscio
Nicolo Zaniolo

And that's since 2014. Does anyone know of any other club with that many instances of this specific injury in that frame of time?

Unreal.

Damn poor Zaniolo, I hope he can recover strongly and quickly. Incredible run he made in the play leading to the injury too, would have been a season highlight.

I hope he can recover for the euros.

What the fuck happens in Rome. Zaniolo and Demiral in the same match.

Chiellini and Demiral now, can't catch a break with these injuries. He was doing so well, looked like a fix starter.

that is a crazy list. although Arsenal could be up there ...
though Roma is one of the most unfortunates in serie a to have that much of a list. felt really bad for Zaniolo ... i can imagine that kid immediately had also Euro 2020 game in his mind.
it was crazy he took out like 4-5 Juve player, before falling badly

same goes for demiral... just when juve thought they have a consistent CB to partner bonucci

38 year old offers more than anyone else in this team (bar theo, donnaruuma)

and probably he is not still fit , he hasn't played for 2 months
I suppose he should even improve

what was so ridiculous about zlatan was that he covered 9.7 km distance throughout the game and had sprints of 32kmh^1 only bettered by calabria in cagliari game

we will only see him of this for another 6 months... and if he and club decides to do another 1 year ...

fact is milan is still hiding behind zlatan

going back to that Roma Juventus game ... i think Mclewis might chew me on this but i feel like lorenzo pellegrini is the reason why roma is going bad...

i knew this a bit while ago when pellegrini and cristante were playing together... my god they were so bad together that the midfield was too easy for opponents to break...

i saw in this game pellegrini loosing lot of ball possession and making bad errors when setting up on goal ... the Roma team when they were injured were way better organized and scary and consistent.

zaniolo is going to be a massive loss for roma though .. feels like under is not up to the job on consistent basis

hence his self-proclaimed statement via image makes much more sense ...   Very Happy

seriously you can hand zlatan the entire club to manage and this guy will achieve so much .... when he says something he really does it ... not jinxing anything but we are talking about a 38 year old here....

Pellegrini came back and coincided with Roma's best run though. 4 wins and a draw against Inter in a row in his first 5 starts since injury. He is their best player this season, without him they struggle to score much more.

Roma's lowest point tally (per match) coincides exactly with Pellegrini's injury. With him they played Lazio, Atalanta, Inter, Fiore, Torino, Juve, etc. yet got more points, while without him they dropped points in an easier run:
Wolfsberger
Cagliari
Sampdoria
Gladbach
Gladbach
Parma
they failed to win 6 in 9 games in his injury period.

i mean not in terms of results but the balance. if he can contribute that directly results in wins and goals great... but those early games roma played with him and cristante on line up or even himself i m seeing maybe im watching another games but there are lot of times pellegrini loosing ball possession that was leading to direct counterattacks for opponents to score.

he can be decisive yes i know that but no point if he losses ball cheaply and that in directly gives opportunities for opponents. i been seeing this frequently .. maybe i m wrong but if mancini were to play as DF with veretout or diawara i think that is much more of a protection in midfield so lorenzo can just focus on attacking aspects ...

genoa game was disaster for him and cristante this juve game was another example, lazio game was another example that game lazio had it too easy because they ran riot around him and cristante..

ok juve game he played solely on forward but lorenzo didn't do good either with decision making upfront and giving ball away at times.

maybe im wrong but i feel like pellegrini isn't as great as zaniolo, good player but not as good as how zaniolo does on the same position.

But he isn't a midfielder for a pivot. Playing Zaniolo at AM and pushing Pellegrini into the pivot is what wasn't working. Roma was better off playing Zaniolo on the right, Pellegrini at AM, and a proper double pivot, which worked much better. McLweis said it before too, how much Roma's goalscoring threat increases with him on the field. Definitely their best choice for AM, with the injury and everything he is already on 9 assists plus the overall involvement.

Since Fonseca stuck to that setup Roma looked much better.
