Cristante already took that "hit" moving to DM when he used to be the most forward midfielder for Atalanta. Natural, since at Roma you have Pellegrini and Zaniolo, and Cristante is strong and versatile. But Pellegrini shouldn't be limited like that, at least not unless Zaniolo explodes as AM.

I agree as Pellegrini as at his best in a False AM position in the modern sense whilst Zaniolo needs to stop being played out wide and that is obvious why.

Versatility in a player within Roma seems to be used for the coach's favour more so than a player's.

Not much further to expand than what I have said above beyond the fact that the attacking potential of Roma under Fonseca continues to develop as was shown today with finally more composure and chemistry in the aimed possession. Florenzi (given up on that battle) and Zaniolo aside each player suits their respective roles for Fonseca's vision relatively well beyond the centre-backs.

Great match, on that note.

Long has been a debate on Pellegrini's position and Rincon is apt that the #10 position always will be his best one regardless of his impressive qualities as a regista or pivot.

If not him, Pastore simply does not seem to be finding his comfort in Roma along with the faith of Fonseca himself.

If one disagrees, three assists and unlucky save preventing a goal for him say otherwise. You dont put such a fleet-footed ambidextrous player who looks to thrive under pressure that deep.

Roma definitely going in the right direction, all maddening politics aside outside of the field.

Pastore for all his raw talent always has shown to be a mentally weak player. Displayed that in big moments within Palermo, as was the same in Paris and is showing nothing different here in Roma so far despite his infrequent appearances and admittedly bad luck to pair that with him.

I see nothing for him in this team.

Valero shouldve scored that, we cant string 2 passes together and this midfield of Biglia Hakan and Kessie is tilting me.

Doesnt help when you have bums like Hakan sitting outside the box racking up short back pass stats and fishing for long shots, dont get me started on RR, guy plays like a 3rd CB, never an outlet on the left.

Good God I am so bored of Giampaolo already with his safety first line-ups and uninspiring choices. He has an idea of how to set up attacking tactics (keyword: tactics) but beyond that I am seeing another no-name manager resorting to provinciale ways when jumping to a bigger club.

Does not help Verona are literally mirroring Chievo as if pantomining their role ever since the latter were relegated.

Giampaolo has that provincial stink about him, jury's out for however much but i am unconvinced, we've scored 1 goal in 3 games and look uninspiring af, his insistence on a brain dead Hakan in midfield is perplexing, as if we needed another player to ruin attacks beside Kessie.

I suspect he will be under pressure once we lose the derby, then you'll see him using Theo, Bennacer etc

Good to see the Fiorentina Rebic is what we got

Problem is there is just so little to go by when it comes to Giampaolo as Samdoria stint aside he has had close to no successive eras beyond a season and the only thing to go by is his apparent attacking set-up to which does have a flair about them but given the variation from a 4-3-1-2 to a fucking Christmas Tree formation we know it would only work in the confined space of Calcio games.

Not to mention he is basically carrying the torch of Gattuso in using players in ways where they simply cannot play. Kessie is driving me furious with his touch whilst Hakan I am this close to losing faith in the talent I once much revered.

Piatek we knew would have a slump of a season after his pre-season lack of goals and had that feeling after his fiery run last year.

Beyond that we cannot rely on anyone for goals.

Lovely that none of our new players bar a second half appearance Rebic's Fiorentina apparition making an appearance.

Hellas parking the ship ffs. We need players to hug the touchline to stretch out the opposition, and bring on Bennacer to aid ball circulation. Best way to beat a bus is to tire them out with passing in advanced areas.

The worst way to thwart a parked cruiser ship is literally the 4-3-2-1 on which it has that famous tendency to centre around mostly one point and that is proving to be too readable for the defence of Verona.

Overly joyed for Piatek whom I hold a soft spot for in this tough time for him.

Strikers like him when they lose form tend to overthink and touch in their play hence the performance vs Brescia.

Even in the penalty you could see the weight on his face knowing what it meant for him and thankfully he slotted it away beautifully to the far left corner.

I don't see a penalty per say bringing his currently lacking confidence back but it will certainly help.

Even if this ends 1-0 I will remain unsatisfied in all quarters as I was in the last win we had.

Milan's squad is just terrible. The mercato this year was strange and insufficient.

Rebic had a goal given to him for a tap in and missed. Justice for Giampaolo, he has very little to work with besides the impetous Kessie (c).

Inter will ruin Milan in the derby.
