Such a shame to see Steve Smith miss out on yet another 100. This is some next level batting.

England's top order looks horseshit and ultimately will be there undoing in this series. This Ashes is Australia's to lose imo.

Roy is an ODI player and it shows. I mean is bloody good in that format but he just doesn't look like a test player at all. But then it's harsh to just blame him considering rest of the batting line have no idea how to play test cricket.

Australia will get us out under 150-200 and comfortably win.

I think one of Bancroft, Warner and Kawaja will need to step up in future innings if Aus really wanna seal this Ashes.

England's top order looks a mess though. Really unimpressed by Root thus far, wasn't he supposed to be the big deal.

Isn't it only for today and not the whole series?^^

Looks like this test is ending in a draw.

Jesus Christ

Root unreliable again. Openers some of the worst we have ever had. Feels like we need 8 different test cricketers who should never play ODI/T20

Celebrating Smith's absence but his replacement is amazing lol

Ashes and World Cup in the same summer would be a bit too good to be true

Root is a terrible captain and even worse as a batsman when he's captaining the side

What's funny is Australia will be winning an Ashes series in England after 18 years lead by probably the worst Australian captain of all time

England are done as a Test team for a while, tbh. The ECB don't care about the long-format anymore. They put everything into ODIs (which paid off, to their credit) and now they're introducing The 100 to pack the calendar even more and screw over the County Championship ever further. So every player will want to play the short format and won't bother learning how to play test cricket.

As an example of how absurd it is, Counties are playing in the T20 Blast at the moment, except there's one random four-day game in the middle of qualifying. So players have to change their game literally overnight and wickets end up falling all over the place.

It's a huge problem atm because England have nobody who can come in and rescue that top order. I can think of maybe two players they could try, but the rest have been tried before and failed. The top scorer in division one is an opener for Warwickshire. He'll probably be thrown in soon. After him, the highest scoring opener is... Alastair Cook. Reckon he'll come out of retirement? Laughing

England 156-3, needing 203 runs to wins with two whole days to bat.

Burns and Roy got out quick, but Root knuckled down with 75 off 189 balls. Then Denly somehow got a 50 despite attempting about a dozen drives and only hitting one of them. Stokes is in now, with just 2 off 50 balls.

If Root and Stokes can get a big partnership going, England will start believing they can actually win.

In a match full of dumb shots, Bairstow may have just played the dumbest.

All down to Buttler and Stokes now. De ja vu lol.

I don't know what he was thinking. You have more than enough time. Why would you play a shot with 4 in the slip??

Stokes win us this match and knighthood confirmed.

50 for Stokes, and runs needed now 98.

Woakes is handy, Leach scored 92 recently, Archer can do anything and Broad was a good bat once upon a time. I still believe.
