AFCON 2019
Egypt win the first game and gave a really good opening ceremony.
Wonderful scenes from the #AFCON2019 opening ceremony. Beautiful African diversity on display.

Re: AFCON 2019
Warched first half of Congo- Uganda. The match has ended 0-2.
It' s insane to play this tournament in Summer. I understand the clubs' pressure ... .but Africa is a special case. You can't play in this period for obvious reasons.
There is the cooling break, I've seen, but clearly it's not enough.
Anyway Uganda had even similar kits than Belgium, it's real mystery the match hasn't became rough.

I agree that we were rough. However, I'm going to say that African teams have been doing this shit to us every AFCON and WC qualifier. I'm annoyed because every time an Ivory Coast or Senegal plays like this, they're physical, but when Algeria or Egypt play like this, we're called "dirty".
This is Africa, and Algeria understands this now. These teams are getting a taste of their own medicine. We can and will play like thugs, fight fire with fire. It is what it is. Maybe if they didn't play like hyenas due to our superior technical ability we wouldn't have to play like thugs. What comes around goes around.
With better finishing, we would've roasted them 3-0 or even 4-0. They were very, very lucky with just one goal.

We need to improve our finishing. Or we will not win this competition. Our defense is carrying us. Mahrez also needs to do more, he is a liability right now.

Re: AFCON 2019
Group A: Already qualified Egypt (6 points) face second-placed Uganda (4 points) while Zimbabwe (1 point) take-on pointless DR Congo in the fight for one of those 3rd place spots.
Group B: A copy-cat of Group A, Already qualified Nigeria (6 points) face second-placed Madagascar (4 points) while Guinea (1 point) take-on pointless Burundi in the fight for one of those 3rd place spots.
Group C: Qualified Algeria (6 points) face pointless Tanzania, who may still make it to the QF, while Kenya and Senegal (both on 3 points) face each other.
Group D: Qualified Morocco (6 points) face South Africa (3 points) while Ivory Coast (3 points) face pointless Namibia.
Group E: One of those two groups that haven’t managed a QF spot yet. Leaders Mali (4 points) faces Angola (2 points) while Tunisia (2 points) faces Mauritania (1 point).
Group F: Another group that haven’t managed a QF spot yet. Leaders Cameroon (4 points) faces Benin (2 points) while Ghana (2 points) faces Guinea-Bissau.
Traditional power-houses like Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Ghana, and (to some extent) Cameroon have had an underwhelming tournament so far.
My predictions for R16 match-ups:
Morocco vs. Guinea
Uganda vs. Senegal
Madagascar vs. Ghana
Egypt vs. Kenya
Nigeria vs. South Africa
Algeria vs. Benin
Mali vs. Ivory Coast
Cameroon vs. Tunisia
P.S. I think it’s rather amusing that even pointless teams after two rounds of games stand a chance to qualify for next round.

Kenya isn't much to talk about IMO. I have fond memories of Algeria in the 1986 WC. Good to see them doing well again.FennecFox7 wrote:What a Team algeria have. 4 Clean sheets and dominating Kenya and Senegal on the way. incredible

This team is making me dream again. Incredible. Dominated Nigeria and Ivory Coast in the game. We NEED to finish our chances, Nigeria was awful in particular all game.

Re: AFCON 2019
No, 1986. Though they got just one point, they were feisty opponents. Almost ran Brazil (yes, Brazil 1986) naked.FennecFox7 wrote:iftikhar wrote:Kenya isn't much to talk about IMO.
