Re: AFCON 2017
The janitor in my building is Egyptian and he does a good job... very consistent and affable man. Therefore, i will be rooting for Egypt !
In fact, i am not very enthusiastic about this, as always. Some clubs lose important players for a month, in the middle of the season, and there are risk of injuries. Teams from Ligue 1 are decimated once AFCON starts
My knowledge about weather conditions in Africa is very limited... is it too hot or too rainy to be held in the summer ?

Re: AFCON 2017
For example
Leicester loses Mahrez and Slimani
Roma will lose Salah, their best player, for a month
We lose Benatia, Lemina and Asamoah
... and the list goes on
Talk about an unnecessary headache for the coach

Looking forward to the tournament, if you look closely at those groups they are evenly matched. Anyone can beat anyone but I see Senegal or Egypt winning this as dark horses. Algeria would be favourites but they don't have even have a manager at the moment and they struggled against a Cameroon team which is in transition.

I'm excited about this. Africans teams are getting better and the groups are pretty even. I don't care if some clubs lose a player for 3-4 games.

Says the guy who supports Arsenal, a team that won't lose important players
If you are from Benin i respect the excitement you feel, after all it's the most prestigious competition in Africa.
But seriously, they should schedule the tournament in the summer.

Re: AFCON 2017
Summer in Africa is either perching hot or hot & humid. I would say it would be diabolical to have AFCON during summer. BTW, even the WC 2022 is being scheduled for winter.Warrior wrote:LeBéninois wrote:I'm excited about this. Africans teams are getting better and the groups are pretty even. Re: AFCON 2017
They should do it in South Africa every year then, it worked for the WC2010. Seriously this makes no sense at all.

Will loose Ndong, Kone and Djilobodji. Would have lost Anichebe as well had Nigeria made it. Unreal mess!

Nice is going to lose Belhanda and Serri , 2 of their best players. Cyprien and Pléa will have to carry the team even more.

Salah will be a big miss for Roma.
We'll lose Benatia, Asamoah, Lemina not that the later 2 do too much.

1. Algeria
2. Morroco
3. Ghana
4. Senegal
5. Egypt
Gabon has a decent line up but they won't it make past round 2.

If you remember there were 3 drinks break every match excluding the half time. Summer tournament isn't possible in 99% of the countries in Africa and they aren't supposed to adjust for the sake of club football of all concerns lol.
