Re: General Games Discussion
No console peasantry, but mods yes. Pretty rpg oriented because I've mostly grown out of other type of games. Top 10 games of the decade:
Skyrim (modded)
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Fallout New Vegas (modded)
Grand Theft Auto V
Fallout 4 (modded)
Mount & Blade: Warband
Total War: Warhammer II
Elex
Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
Alan Wake
Honorable engine remakes:
Daggerfall Unity
OpenMW
Baldur's Gate Trilogy Enhanced Edition
Honorable mention:
Tamriel Rebuilt (Morrowind mod) closing on 2 full decades of development and going stronger than ever.

Re: General Games Discussion
Cyberpunk to have microtransactions on online, and because of that, shorter main guest than W3. So they did one good game to trap fanboys and the milking has started...

According to who?
Shorter main quest than TW3? find that hard to believe with what they said before.

Re: General Games Discussion
Depends on how they would do it. If the single player is a wholesome experience with no micro-transactions, I think most people will be okay with it.
As for online, paying for cosmetic things that can also be earned without spending a dollar is the norm now. Whether it is wrong or right, is another matter. I personally don't mind them so long as it doesn't affect the online progression.

Re: General Games Discussion
the article is in polish but:
Cyberpunk will NOT have micro transactions. Website apologizes for misleading article.
'The developers just briefly considered monetizing the multiplayer component in the upcoming game, and not, as we wrote, announce their introduction'

Re: General Games Discussion
Using resources on making the microtransactions is straight away from the develelopment in other areas, that's just logic. I think they decided that standard of W3 was too much and will try to ride waves of their previous success on this. Not only has it looked like shit in gameplay, but I think this is very bad omen for the game.
Don't get me wrong, it will still get fantastic reviews because of the hype and money, and fanboys will still rescue the success of it. But eventually the series will go down like most of todays "games".

Reading that post on reddit the game sounds anything but negative. It looks immensely indepth and detailed. Probably will take longer to complete it than TW3.

How long did it take you to complete TW3, anyway? A year?

Re: General Games Discussion
Reflecting on my decade of gaming says a lot.
On one hand, an unhealthy amount of hours spent playing FIFA, PES and Football Manager.
On the other, a collection of weird and obscure Japanese games only I would play.
Somehow, a lot of the big hits of the decade passed me by. I did one playthrough of Witcher 3 and never touched it again; I played the whole Uncharted series, loved it, but never touched those games again; the big open-world games like Fallout and Skyrim made me motion sick so I could never play them; wasn't interested in GTA or RDR...
Anyway, if I'm going on sheer number of hours invested and times replayed, my game of the decade would Persona 5, Yakuza 0, or Fire Emblem: Awakening.

There's no microtransactions, they were asked a question about monetising the multiplayer part that's in R&D atm. (Which won't come until long after the game os released anyway)
As usual the internet took the quote wrong and bastardized it.
Watch this.

Did they mention anything about single player DLC? Hearts Of Stone and Blood & Wine was the best DLC of this gen.

Re: General Games Discussion
Oh, I definitely played it longer than that. I collected every piece of treasure on the entire map. I’m pretty sure I covered every nook and cranny of it Never got the Platinum trophy, simply because that one quest in Novigrad was bugged and somehow got listed as failed. They fixed it in a patch, but I would have to start the game over again in order to complete it. «Ain’t no one» etc.

The Witcher's story was long enough if you went after all the side quests, especially with the DLCs. Most games you can beat within 10 hours so.....

Re: General Games Discussion
Yeah, I’m almost certain that I spent somewhere between 100-150 hours on the base game plus both expansions. Granted, I left my console running quite a few times while I was away, so the total number is likely a bit inflated. I remember wishing there’d been more to do after finishing Blood and Wine. It’s such a fantastically immersive game, and the more vibrant and colorful setting of that expansion was such a refreshing change of pace after having whipped Roach through the swamps and icy mountains

Re: General Games Discussion
Got a free month of EA Access. Started playing Anthem with an open mind.
First impressions:
First impressions:
- Graphics and facial animations are well done and the world looks gorgeous. I would still prefer Jedi: Fallen Order as generally prefer Unreal Engine to Frostbite (and there are well-document problems that Bioware had faced using this engine for both Mass Effect: Andromeda (ME:A) and Anthem).
- Flying through the world and shooting enemies are quite satisfying experience. Everything with the javelin seems upgraded from what you had as Ryder in ME:A. Controls are quite sharp so you don't feel like you're fighting against the game.
- The plot seems decent so far, although I've been told it slows down and becomes too far and between later.
Re: General Games Discussion
Have you played Elex? It's the best example of flying exploration in rpg's (jetpack).
Any BF games? I've already bought TWW2 dlc's and DA Origins. Although I hate pipe runs, DA Origins is one the few good ones.

Re: General Games Discussion
I haven't played Elex, but I remember @futbol speaking highly of it. Perhaps right now is the time to pick it up during Steam's Autumn Sale Reviews look quite mixed though, what is up with that? It seems like a bit of a Marmite game where reviewer opinions are very divided.
I haven't played BF in years, even though I have all BF games on my shared Origin account with my brother.
I picked up a few games during the sale, frankly needed none and probably end up playing each 10 hours max but they were cheap as chips so:
