The bottom line is that, if played as a CF, Aubameyang scores a hell of a lot of goals.

That's all I care about when it comes to a CF. Efficiency is a bonus as far as I am concerned.

Well, if a striker scores so many goals over a season despite missing blatant sitters regularly, it must mean that he's making up for a possible lack of efficiency by getting into good scoring positions all the time.
So yeah, ultimately you want goals from your striker and that's what he gives. Never understood why people kept underrating him after his back to back 40 goals seasons at BVB.
Only a handful of strikers score so many goals in world football.

and where exactly were those clear cut chances?

All the balls that came to him into the box have been behind him.

Behind him how?

Anyways he just redeemed himself with a screamer

Efficiency is not a measurement of really anything for CFs in the form of Aubameyang.

Those are in the form of pure out and out strikers who have a more streamlined role more advanced in the box, or poachers.

Aubameyang had little efficiency for ASSE and Dortmund but came out to score bundles because it was followed by a goal or a searing run to create chances thus rendering his efficiency only relevant in the times he could not produce, to which came far and in between.

Fantastic game by Arsenal all around. Those HT subs were key

Wenger was holding this team back. They have got their fight back with Emery. I am happy for them

What a rollercoaster of emotions!

One thing that Emery has massively changed is the physicality of the team, we look faster and stronger which is amazing considering that Spurs themselves are a physical team and we outmatched them in that regard.

Mike Dean had an excellent game Proud Molenation . Spurs penalty was soft but he was spot on for the rest of the game and their was contact. Missed the first 10 mins and didn't realized Ozil was not on the pitch until commentator mentioned it near the end of the game. Laughing Was wondering why Arsenal were so scrappy and showing such grit.

Honestly, Spurs got two "lucky" goals in this game, they never existed otherwise, it was all Arsenal. Very poor game from them

Yeah completely agreed

That being said, if they had played Alderweireld instead of Foyth goals 3 and 4 would've never happened.

Reason being his physical regime like most (Basque) Spanish coaches isnt running them to the ground as Wenger seemed to ignore on how such an approach is the absolute worst to preserve pre match energy.

Emery is known for a timed approached along with his staff when it comes to training and implemented the same diet that worked well in his Valencia.

Post by Jay29 Sun Dec 02, 2018 4:35 pm

I'm exhausted after that.

Emery's knack for half-time changes is carrying us at the moment. Not that our first half was bad at all, but he recognised we were having trouble against Spurs' diamond and made the bold move of taking off both his inside forwards, despite them playing pretty well. Iwobi, especially, was troubling Aurier with his link-up with Kolasinac. It could have really backfired.

It's not like we were incapable of playing this way under Wenger (we did Spurs 2-0 with last year with the same type of wholehearted performance), but by far the biggest difference between him and Emery is that Emery reacts, while Wenger would have waited too long to make a change. It's refreshing to have a manager who is so decisive (and has improved a lot since his Sevilla days, where his in-game management had a 50/50 chance of working).

Now if only we could sort out our first halves.
