A lot of comedians recycle their jokes. I watched 5 or 6 different stand up appearances from that Canadian-Indian comedian who does race humor (forgot his name). They were all mostly the same jokes, or variations of the same jokes, and he had the same laugh every time he told them. It was quite awkward to watch, but I get the impression that it’s pretty common to do this.

Mainly know him for playing the asshole in Source Code. Perfect fit for that role.

This one tore me up this morning.
If you're a millennial around my age, you probably grew up around the time the original Friday movie came out. John's role as Mr. Jones is legendary and very much iconic. Literally every scene he had in that movie was a highlight.
I also really loved him on the Wayans Bros sitcom and of course as Grandad Freeman in the Boondocks. I never did get around to seeing Black Jesus so I feel like I need to watch that now.
RIP

I’m not really educated enough on his stand up. He legitimately just nailed the role as an asshole

- Spoiler:
- Ok it's pretty damn awesome that Bill Burr popped up in the Mandalorian. Really enjoyed his performance. I did a rather comical double-take when I first saw his character and that super thick Boston accent. Now I need to see his homeworld.

Re: Your Top 3 Favorite Comedians (Alive or Dead)
Recently discovered this guy, well worth a watch!
Another one from Theo Von when he met Danny McBride: (his podcast is getting bigger and bigger, thanks to Joe Rogan for giving him exposure)
"[...] and then he's like: [how's your day, everything going good for you?] We were just taking picture, just saying small talk and I was like: [Yeah, man, lotta ladies up here, good thing I brought my dick].... and he didn't say anything."
This too, Bobby Lee + Theo Von is magic.
The Demon of Carthage wrote:I love him too. My favorite one-liner from him is:
"Growing up, I didn't feel any white privilege. I know some people had it, man. You know, I knew some motherfuckers with sweaters. But I was two tank tops in the winter, okay."
Definitely deserves more exposure.

if you cant make fun and jokes about your own people in a comedy show then you might as well give it up.Nishankly wrote:Imagine liking Russel's Peter lmfaoo. Lovely stereotypical c*nt. Nothing other than that.

@Myesyats: if you liked Chris Distefano then there's a slight chance you may like Big Jay Oakerson. Give him a go.

Because its the lowest and easiest form of comedy, literally anyone on the street can do it and get the same laughs. Hell you do it most of times on GL and get laughs. Its way to easy, so I don't rate it at all and people still doing are clearly not good enough.

Interesting recommendation, I like Distefano's energy and presence better but they have a similar type of humor indeed. Oakerson is a great story-teller, I'll definitely seek out more videos of him.

Re: Your Top 3 Favorite Comedians (Alive or Dead)
I'm not a huge fan of comedians, i usually find it interesting, how they tell the story and all, but very few make me laugh. That said it takes balls to do this job. Never watched an english stand up show because i feared to not understand if they talk too fast... until some months ago i had access to my friend's Netflix account, and i was able to watch BILL BURR with subtitles. This guy is amazing, genuinely funny, and i have the same cynical views towards this bs society. Something he said about women that criticize white men as if they are the source of all evil: Bitch, you're in the jacuzzi with me !!
Another one would be Mike Ward, bilingual local comedian, he's very savage and very hilarious.
Can't think of 3rd one for now.

If you're French speaking who understands the nuances of English. I recommend Paul Taylor.
He is my favorite bilingual comic, i can relate to 90% of things he says being native English learning French.

Funny to see a british who imitates the quebec accent perfectly. Comedians from France can't do it.

My Man Warrior on the train, he is amazing.
He is the perfect example of an English native to attempt to settle in the diverse French world.
Very satisfied that you like it, makes me feel better
