Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
Its all and well, but maybe Im expecting too much, I hardly ever seen him make any sort of creative or key pass. So unless he starts doing that he will just become another average disappointment, instead of WC which we need.

I sincerely feel bad for you guys. Sell Arthur, buy a washed up pjanic, and freeze out your most talented midfielder. Koeman is an average manager. And he hasn’t even rejuvenated the squad, he is just playing los amigos again

I think Pedri is a bigger talent though and Koeman trusts in him

Things must be bad if you guys are lamenting over no-name youngsters who wouldn't start for Fulham.

Koeman: "It's not true that I have told Riqui that I don't count on him. However, there's competition and that complicates things right now."
"I recommend Riqui to leave on loan because a young player like him has to play."
It's not really like that. He is not a generational talent, but he is promising and it's frustrating that he will get sold while old amigos are staying put. We need young blood in our team.

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
Let's look at Madrid's dealings with their youth and compare it to that of Barcelona's:
Carvajal sold to Leverkusen for €8.5m and exercised the option to buy back for €6m.
Morata sold to Juventus for €20m and exercised option to buy back for €30m, then sold to Chelsea for €65m.
Reguilón sold to Spurs for €35m with a 2-year long buy-back option for €45m.
Hakimi sold to Inter for €40m with Madrid with Los Blancos having a first dibs on signing him should Inter decide to sell/Hakimi decides to leave.
Kovačić signed from Inter for €29m, loaned to Chelsea and eventually signed for the blues for €45m.
Odriozola signed from Sociedad for €30m and loaned to Bayern. Bayern will pay his entire wages.
Ceballos signed from Betis for €18m and loaned to Arsenal. Arsenal will pay his entire wages.
Kubo bought from Barcelona and loaned for the second straight season.
Ødegaard loaned out to various clubs.
Mayoral loaned to Levante.

They have been phenomenal in the transfer market, especially getting crazy money for scrubs.

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
Nothing worthy of mention, but he's simply not good and his cult like following with younger Barca fans simply expose themselves as not understanding football.
Xavi is not coming to start this guy, no chance, I don't believe it. Not without some kind of major coaching work to iron out his game. He takes 4 touches do something which should take 2 and if we can't apply immediate pressure he's defensively horrible. He should be some kind of inside forward really, not a number 8.

Pedri was always the much bigger talent. Puig's cult following is bizzare

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
His progression has definitely stalled. That happens when you spend 1.5 years on the bench as a youngster. But, lets not forget his role under Setien. He had a great run in to the end of the season and was probably one of our best players in that run in. Koeman didnt like him. Puig should have gone out on loan but didnt. Koeman doesnt play him at all and his progression stalled.
He is too light weight to play in the modern game though. Certainly for a top tier club as he is always going to be a defensive liability.

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
Not trying argue, but just to point our he was at no second in history every one of our best players loool... he was never good enough, maybe back at Barca B which I dont wanna get to watch he had promise, n maybe its his style some cules like, but prolly the same thing with many of the other La Masia promises that didnt make it over the yrs - he is too one dimensional, all other parts of his game are not good enough for the first team.

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
He did do well in that run, definitely was the best player in that Atleti game I recall.
But overall, just too many holes and not enough positives. Nico is far better, let alone Gavi and Pedri.

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
These supposed "talents" have one thing in common... They hit one good run, are hyped up to the heavens and then end up at Wolverhampton.
Puig has shown zero signs of maturity and he's 22 already. Pedri and Nico are levels above in every way imaginable
Even Gavi appears to be more mature and consistent and he's 5 years younger!

Re: Ricard "Riqui" Puig
Not arguing that Puig is good enough to start for us. He is too light weight to start for any top club and at this point has many holes in his game.
Do think he can be a decent squad option if he fixes the holes in his game.
He can drive with the ball, the ball moves faster when he comes in (yes he takes too many touches). He can be a good sub option in certain situations.
