I think Ronaldo's skill set is substantially more reliable in circumstances where a team is struggling to move the ball forward or create chances. Ronaldo and Messi have evolved quite differently in their transition into older age; with Messi learning how to impact games with little effort through simple, lobbed passes and reliable freekick accuracy, and Ronaldo gradually discarding his once exceptional sprint speed and mobility for an ability to read the game ahead of time, then "move under the radar" and into scoring positions without attracting much attention in the process.

An absolute world class sense of offensive positioning, coupled with elite finishing are traits that aren't as easy on the eye as swerving dribbling runs or inch-perfect, lobbed passes. Some might even argue that great offensive positioning is something that's anyone's capable of, and that Ronaldo's just compensating for having a more limited skill set. However, I think both he and his teams have benefitted greatly from him shifting his focus purely towards goalscoring, and using his exceptional physique and declining stamina when it matters most, as opposed to using it to display longer spurts of physical prowess, like he used to do in the past when all eyes were on him whenever he received the ball. I understand that there's banter value in these arguments, but most of us already know who's more talented, and most of us should have realized by now who's got the superior eye for goal. I didn't understand this answer. Anyways that was my genuine opinion.

Despite not liking CR7 in first place i am not insensitive to his recent streak of success... and more so i am impressed by the manner, the clutchness in other words.
