If he wants to leave the club by 2020, I am fine with that. Unless we receive a crazy offer for him, we can keep hold of him till the end of his contract and I would like that club keeps him instead of bending to his wishes just in case he demands to leave.

Liverpool make contact with PSG's Adrien Rabiot's agent over free transfer - Julien Laurens

He is out of contract next summer. Rabiot said in the past that he is a Liverpool fan and that Gerrard was his idol when he was growing up, he was also spotted at Anfield and watched some games.
The problem would maybe be Barcelona, they already tried to sign him this summer but PSG was asking for too much money considering he only had 1 year left on contract. So they maybe try again when he is a free player, but they got Vidal now so they might not need another CM.

Tbh Rabiot is still only 23, for a free or paying a low agent fee he would be a bargain. Every time I watched him in the CL like vs Barca and Real he bossed the midfield. My friend who watches Ligue 1 also said that he has the potential to become one of the best CMs around, and that his behaviour issues are overblown but he is great on the field, especially in big games.

We destroyed Arsenal at Anfield - Ox came to Liverpool

We destroyed Roma at Anfield - Alisson came to Liverpool

Destroying PSG in 2 weeks at Anfield and Rabiot signing incoming? hmm

I think the only possibility is Milner becoming a year older next season so Club might be planning for it. But seeing Milner so far this season, it seems like only he can stop himself. And the question will be whom to sell from the midfielders we have right now.

have watched him for PSG few times and looked good. He seems more like a player we have missed after Xabi Alonso left us.

Really don't think Rabiot is the type of player we need, we've got a lot of CMs. Keita, Henderson, Oxlade, Milner, Fabinho, Wijnaldum... We could use a nifty little CAM (Coutinho & Lallana replacement) or a striker, not a CM.

Rabiot on a free transfer is still a no brainer.

I think Lallana will likely move next summer. As good as Milner is, he is going to be 33 next season and his contract is up. That might be the reason Milner looks the most hungry of our players so far to win the title, he might want to leave on a high note and he knows he's not young anymore. Ox can also play on the wings and he is injury prone, he has a history of injuries and he currently has a really bad long term injury, there is always a chance he gets injured again.

In fact a lot of our players are injury prone. Remember last season in the beginning we were stacked in midfield and had 6 CMs (Hendo, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Milner, Ox) but by the end of the season we could barely have 3 CMs that are fit, we had 0 rotation by the end of season.

Even if Wijnaldum leaves and Milner either leaves or plays less, it's still too many CMs. Oxlade is realistically going to play in midfield, too, as long as Mané and Salah are at the club.

Obviously I'm not going to be upset if we sign someone on a free, but we should prioritize a CAM or a striker.

Yeah Ox is a CM now I just said he is versatile and can play on the wings if we have any injuries there.

Still, if Lallana and Milner leave and Rabiot comes then we will have 6 CMs fighting for 3 spots. Considering one of them is injury prone and another one is extremely injury prone I don't think it's too many. Last season we had 6 CMs and in the 2nd half of the season we usually had only 3 available because of injuries.

What AM could we realistically sign that would be a Coutinho replacement and instantly improve our starting 11? There aren't many top AMs around, that's why they go for crazy fees. The only realistic one was Fekir and we know we can't risk his injury prone knees, we risked with Ox and look what happened. And it's not like Rabiot is some destroyer he is a creative player and would come as a free transfer. Only top AMs that would improve us I can think of are the likes of Eriksen, David Silva, De Bruyne, Rodriguez, Isco, Koke, and we aren't likely to sign any of them even if we were they would cost crazy money that we don't have. Only way is to invest and gamble in some youngster but why would you do that when you can possibly get a proven player for free.

Depth is needed, but it shouldn't all be starting quality, that would be a waste and only lead to unhappy players when everyone's fit.

I don't know what AM would be ideal and available, but things change fast in football, you never know who is going to be next summer's Fekir or Coutinho or whoever. I just think we should go for a Bernardo Silva type of nifty AM, because we haven't got those, rather than add another pure CM.

Don't want Rabiot. The only guy I'd take at the third CM position is someone the likes of Alonso or Gerrard. Proper B2B and can commit both sides. I don't want another dude who needs a midfield 3 to perform.

James Milner says hi.
Matip was good whenever he wasn't injured tbh and looked good so far this season when he came as a sub in these recent games.

Cole was a finished player, and Jovanovic was almost 30 coming from Belgian league. Rabiot is a proven player.

News about Rabiot: "Talks were positive with the player and the agent has met with our representatives a few times. Deal could be similar to the Keita one where we sign him on a pre-contract to stop other clubs sniffing around, could be done in January for a move in the summer or could be signed for a fee in January if Klopp feels we need another midfielder."

Great news, we can use a player who can dribble the ball into the final third like Keita. cheers We also have Ox for that, but you never know with his injuries. It's not nice to say it, but there's a chance Ox is never the same player again. His main threat is his explosiveness and his athleticism, and he might not get that back after his lay off. I hope it does, but you never know. Also, Lallana is always injured and Milner is 32. We need a new midfielder regardless of what happens IMO.

I Do agree with you. We do need some reinforcement (in addition to Shaq) to our front-line. Perhaps we are expecting the likes of Rhian Brewster etc. to make the grade sooner than expected.

Also, a CAM would be nice given the length of AOC injury. However, the rumors/interest regarding Rabiot is based on the fact that a bunch of the present CM; Wijnaldum, Grujić, Lallana, Milner are viewed as dispensable and Rabiot is viewed as better alternative.

interesting wrote:Liverpool have a lot going for them when it comes to winning the race for Rabiot.
They have a team built for success, reaching the Champions League final last season, and already boast several high profile names and a universally popular and charismatic manager.
Also in their favour is Liverpool signing Fabinho earlier this summer, with the Reds paying £43.7 million to Monaco. Rabiot is on record pleading with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Fabinho a year earlier. He is quoted by But Football Club stating, when asked about Fabinho: "It is important, in my opinion, to recruit a player who can succeed Thiago Motta. For this season, since Thiago, who turned 35, will not be able to play sixty matches this year. But also for the future."
PSG did not manage to sign Fabinho from Monaco, striking a deal to sign Kylian Mbappe with them instead. It worked in Liverpool's favour, and if he signs for the Reds next summer then he will have his chance to play alongside the Brazilian.

We are playing tottenham next, what would be your line ups if you were the coach?

Alisson
Clyne - Gomez - Van Dijk - Robertson
Henderson - Fabinho - Milner
Salah - Firmino - Mane

Sub in Keita, Shaqiri, Sturridge.

Yeah but Brazil has no quality RB and he isn't starting in place of Casemiro at DM. He was a RB at Monaco before he moved to DM. He will be a DM for us and that's what's important.
