I really admire the guy. He's acquired the skill early on and then posted some insane workrate-to-paycheck ratios. Very much living the American dream imo.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
Gonzalo Higuain: "Benzema? After one year I scored 27 goals, Cristiano 26…and in the summer they brought in Benzema and Kaka. I said: ‘how can this be? How many goals have I scored? I’m a scorer and you bring me Benzema and Kaka?’." [ESPN]
Gonzalo Higuain: “I managed to break the goal record in Serie A with Napoli, Karim was still struggling to break 20 goals in La Liga during that time. I was playing for Argentina and he was in Dubai. History speaks."[ESPN]
Gonzalo Higuain: “It was thanks to Angel (Di Maria), that Real won the Champions League. Then the following years, Ronaldo and Bale became the 'strikers', while Karim devolved into his worst self, not even dogs do what Karim has done for them."[ESPN]
Gonzalo Higuain: “Now Karim is the star after many years, he returned to the France NT and is playing his best football. Except its in the worst era of La Liga, lacking in all aspects. Before he used to score 10 goals, now he is finally scoring more than 20."[ESPN]

Tbh i appreciate when players shoot from the hip and reveal what they actually feel rather than make PC generic statements.
As for Higuain, history does indeed speak. He'll go down as one of the worst chokers the game has ever seen with one of the worst CL records for an elite striker. Karim, on the other hand, will probably end up overtaking both Di Stefano and Raul's records and remain a top 5 all-time scorer in the CL.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
Pretty sure only the first quote is true
I read the interview and iirc the only part it mentioned benz was where he said they had a "healthy competition that improved both of us"
But nice try ES

Here's the link: https://www.marca.com/en/football/international-football/2021/09/17/6144600122601d646e8b45ff.html
Higuain sounds like an envious small man if these quotes are true.
Benzema has how many trophies? He's considered a true legend with which clubs? And you... the most you'll be remembered for is choking lol.
What a joke.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
understandably, as it is with former players, he's got his timeline very wrong. cristiano kaka and benzema all came in at the same time, together with xabi albiol and arbeloa...as far as those last 3 paragraphs, nowhere in the transcripts does it say he said any of that. even the marca article doesnt mention any insults nor petty jabs, none of that and they of all people wont leave something like that out. so either kaladin got it from a shady source, or kaladin made that part up. i want to believe its the former

Apparently, even if the quotes are not true, people will react to them as if they were (even after BC pointed out that out).

Benzema's La Liga goalscoring form in 17/18 is kind of funny though.
How do you score 5 goals in 32 La Liga appearances playing as the starting CF for Madrid?
Put 6'9 Firenze as a target man upfront and hoof balls to him and he would've scored the same amount considering lower La Liga defenders are built like Eric Garcia.

Because when Ronaldo is on the team nobody scores lol. look at Juve when he was there. look at United this season see if anyone score 15 or more beside him.
and to be honest Benzema was too busy playmaking and creating space for Ronaldo that he forgot how to score goals lol.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
I love Benz but that simply wasn’t true. He was awful that season until far into the second half. He wasn’t even linking up play anymore. You need to stop disrespecting Ronaldo like he’s some pub player. The relationship between him and Benz was mutualistic, not parasitic. They won 4 CL’s together. If it was like you said, we wouldn’t have won shit

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
Cr fans are funny to me they could totally watch, this guy ruin benzema career and flip it to look like it was some natural occurrence, that season was the most dejected I have seen benzema at the club, clearly tired of cr ball, as I said before it's not mainly about cr, it's the team as whole not helping him at all, anytime player had the chance to setup him up to score they always choose to shoot, cause they know nobody will blame them ever, cause benzema has to look bad every season, so the higuain and cr fanboys can have a moral victory.
All the years I have been on this forum discussing this topic, people always avoiding the obvious lack of support for the man being a key factor in his struggles, but calling him one of the worse cf to play in the club history seems much easier or calling the like of Morata, saldado, negredo, chicharito, adebayor and jovic, etc are real 9 that does real 9 things, etc, now benzema is playing amazing since cr left, some want to act like it has nothing to do with each other.
If cr wanted a proper striking partnership with benzema, that what we would have gotten instead of benzema wasting his prime for cr pad his stats with useless goals, instead of focusing on winning games, the main reason I have always defended benzema is because, the guy always did everything he could to help the team win at all cost, always got mocked for it cause he was a great footballer for a cf, the only reason for that is because higuain was incapable of that, so let's destroy the man every season for being the better player, funny after all this time people can't admit something so simple.

And yet Benzema's highest scoring season in La Liga is when he had Ronaldo in his team.
Just accept he had a bad patch of form and then improved.

Re: Gonzalo Higuain takes his talents to South Beach
Imagine scoring 50 league goals a season to be nowhere near the title, but couple 20+ goals from benzema had the team much more competitive in the league, not everything is a numbers game its about showing up and scoring or making timely plays, is benzema a better player than cr? No but the gap was never ever as wide as people like to make it seems, and benzema could easily challenge for BDO, if it wasn't for cr wasting a lot of prime years and real madrid media/fans trying to destroy his rep every season.
