Who will qualify? (Select two teams)
Re: World Cup (2018) - Group A (Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay)
tough decision for the refs but I think it was a penalty

Egypt should've been awarded another penalty there

Have they even ran more than other teams? They just look well coached and decently talented.

Thought so, but it wont surprise me if it's true in the end given that it's Russia as hosts

So Russia's first objective virtually achieved. Getting out of their group.
Cant fault people for hyping Egypt before the tournament but with or without Salah, they dont/dint exactly look all that convincing.

Don't know where they hype came from, Even with Salah they are absolute dire.
Salah coming back home for preseason

Uruguay would be a real test to see where Russia stand as far as their knockout prospects are concerned
At times i felt Russia were closer to Egypt's level as a team during the game but that second half performance completely changed the perception.

Many 'pundits' had Egypt getting out of the group. I think it was a combination of the insane Salah hype and Russia being dire in pre-tournament friendlies(plus their injury problems).

Looking good against Saudi Arabia and Egypt (with a half healthy Salah)... not all that impressive. Uruguay game will be telling.

It will matter because it's still about winning the group unless Saudi Arabia get something out of the game against Uruguay.
It's not a do or die game but it will still be a very serious one.

I said might for a reason, put some respect on Saudi Arabia's name. I've been told the Asian teams are the ones to watch

Never paid attention to the whole Russia doping thing... but anyone feel that the Russia team might be on something? They play like they are superhuman, I guess it happens on home soil, but the level they are showing now really is quite beyond their usual level?
Not saying anything, just asking what everyone thinks?

Entirely possible even if this might be considered a generalization of Russia's sport. As all of the player's bar Cheryshev play in Russia the players may not face any consequences if they get caught (Villareal may not tolerate it in Cheryshev's case).

It will. no way Saudi Arabia gets a result against Uruguay. So Uruguay will have incentive to beat Russia in order to get the top spot out of the group.

Watching the game v Uruguay... I wonder if Saudi Arabia threw the match against Russia. Looks very very suspicious to me. You don't go from a team that looks like an amateur pub team to one that's competitive somewhat just like that.

Was thinking the same thing tbh. Although the goalie just proved he is an amateur pub goalie
