Real are certainly very good, but I would consider this Real team like best of all time or anything close to that, thats definitely a no. They do have weaknesses, and luck has been a big factor on many occasions. What they have though is a lot of other strengths combined thats helped them overall to be able to do so well in the CL.

Still when u look at their CLs but the fact that they cant even win their own league except once in a long while, one cant really rate them that highly in terms of best teams in history, even if they win 3 CLs in a row.

leave this spanish talk out of the brexit thread please

This is about how lloris is the only reason Spurs are ahead this half. Dembele and Dier playing some of the most shocking balls through the middle of the park I've ever seen. I really hope Kane is playing injured because if not the guy has become a Berbatov like lazy striker all too often, offering absolutely nothing up front right now.

Would like to see Dier and Dembele both off the field at half, it's incredible to see midfielders pass with such disregard.

Tottenham have very easy remaining games, I think they will win all and finish above us. That Chelsea v Liverpool is huge, if we don't finish in the top-4 that will be disastrous.

if we can get through the roma tie intact then we can go all out to get something from the chelsea game to wrap up 4th. then rest players for the brighton game to be fresh for the final. i know thats a lot of ifs and buts Very Happy

Standing should be back, there's literally no reason for it not to happen.

People are apprehensive due to Hillsborough but that's a different world stadiums wise.

There has been a lot of progress since Hillsborough and it's a different time entirely, as Mole pointed out. Hillsborough was a tragedy, to be sure, and everyone should learn from it, but we don't stop flying planes just because they malfunction every once in a while.

I don't really know much about it, but I imagine safe standing can be brought back and done with in a safe and responsible fashion.

Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 9 - The End - Page 25 Empty Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 9 - The End

Post by Jay29 Tue May 01, 2018 10:23 am

The basic idea behind safe standing is that it's, in theory, cheaper than sitting and would allow more noise-generating fans to come together and produce a better atmosphere. Kind of like the ultra sections in Europe.

The issue at the moment is that several groups are conducting surveys and a consensus on whether people actually want this or not hasn't been reached. One survey suggests that fans don't want to stand for 90 mins, another suggests they do, etc. The Sports Minister is against it, the Premier League want "more evidence", and so on. So it's a battle at the moment rather than a progressive discussion.

Personally, I'm all for it. Technology has improved since the 80s, how we manage crowds has improved since the 80s and we sadly have plenty of historical examples of what not to do. When you go to games, you see that most fans end up standing anyway. Every away section has fans standing all game. Every time noise is generated it's because the fans are on their feet (nobody in the Kop for example ever sits). But doing this continuously is a constant struggle because the rules state that every fans has to be seated and the stewards are doing their jobs enforcing those rules. So up and down the country stadiums go through short periods of noise but are mostly just quiet during games, unless it's a truly big occasion.

and obviously the reason for that is that you're a selling club, always selling your best players and then reinvesting the money on mediocre players for inflated fees

What's Leicester's? They've actually won a title so I'm guessing theirs would even more crazier than just crazy.

Post by Unique Wed May 02, 2018 2:02 pm

Liverpool assistant manager Zeljko Buvac has emerged as a shock contender to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager after ending his 17-year association with Jurgen Klopp.

Buvac, who has been dubbed Jurgen Klopp's 'brain', walked away from Anfield on Monday for what has been described by Liverpool as 'personal reasons'.
However, Klopp's trusted assistant has been linked with the managerial vacancy at the Emirates Stadium with sources close to the 56-year-old suggesting the move is on.

Those stats are impressive and all Nasir but the average non-City fan will never know about them. 2 seasons from now unless this City side keeps up the dominance nobody will remember it like they do the Arsenal invincibles or Fergie's United sides. At least that's what I think. You don't have the media fawning over this City like those teams at the time. It's hard to argue objectively that this City team isn't among the best PL teams ever, looking at those stats however.

Being annihilated by Pool in the CL will have done no favours though for City though, in terms of legacy, compared to if it had been a foreign team.
