Post by windkick Wed Jan 31, 2018 8:01 am

I decided to make a little tracker of players that came out of la Masia, or atleast played 1 season for the B or Infantil teams that were hyped up in one way or another to be solid/great players. Does anyone know how is Halilovic doing? He reminds me so much of Messi but I haven't heard about him since forever it feels like.

And Lee Seung-woo? Goddamn, he's 20 already. I remember watching his highlights back when was 16.....

He's so small lol

Verona has a terrible team and Lee can barely get any minutes for them. Just 100 minutes or so in Serie A. Not going well for him.

Wait, is that Toral (Hull) the one who went to Arsenal?

I remember rustling of feathers when Arsenal broke the coveted Toral-Samper partnership.

Looks like he was a scrub. What about Samper? Not up to the mark too?

Good catch! Not sure how I missed him.

Samper can’t seem to go a full few months without getting injured. He can still move up to a better category but he’s gotta earn it

12 goals and 6 assists for Munir at Alaves this season. He seems to have made some progress but unfortunately I'm afraid we don't have a place for him, especially if Griezz comes in.

Life after Masia Empty Re: Life after Masia

Post by windkick Mon Oct 01, 2018 3:41 pm

The stoppage is planned over the case of Isaac Cuenca. LaLiga have refused to register him at Reus, on the grounds they don't believe he will only earn 77,000 euros.

The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) are considering calling for a strike over the case of Isaac Cuenca. LaLiga is refusing to allow Reus to register the player on the grounds the league authorities don’t believe he will only be earning 77,000 euros, the minimum Segunda División salary. The strike, if it went ahead, would be scheduled for 29 and 30 September, matchday 7 of LaLiga, with the Real Madrid - Atlético Madrid derby on the line-up.

Salary cap problems at Reus
LaLiga also refused to register three other players at Reus, Yoda, Vitor and Tito due to the salary cap applied by LaLiga to Reus. These players are under contract to Reus, meaning that in order to play they need to rip up their contract with the club and move elsewhere. If they stay at Reus without being able to play they won’t be able to until the January market.

LaLiga don't believe Cuenca's salary
Isaac Cuenca’s case is different as he is a free agent. Cuenca left his existing deal with Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel to return to Spain. While hopeful of receiving an offer from a first division club that never materialised, he had been training with his hometown club Reus. He then agreed to form part of the squad at Reus, earning the minimum salary. However when the club sent the documentation to LaLiga, the authorities rejected it on the grounds that in their opinion there was no way the player have accepted that amount of money, with the suspicion that Cuenca had agreed that as his official salary to avoid the salary cap, while the club would find other ways to inflate his remuneration.

He explained to AS: "LaLiga does not allow me to register because it does not believe that I will only collect that salary (€77,000, the minimum wage in the Segunda).

"If a club arrives and says they pay me half a million, they would believe it and let me play. It is a monumental incoherence.

"They told the club that they could register other players but not Cuenca. Act in plan: 'Do not play because I say so and period'. Let's see, gentlemen, show something! Why do they not let me play soccer? I am living an unreal situation. I dont understand it. I hope that an agreement is reached."

Former La Masia winger Dani Olmo (Dinamo Zagreb) nominated for the Golden Boy award. He was the player included in a swap deal for Alen Halilovic. In hindsight it was a horrible deal for Barcelona.

According to recent reports, he will join Liverpool this January.

He should probably have been kept. We have 3 left footed CB's and just 1 right footed CB. Would have made sense to let Vermaelen go and keep Marlon.

Never understood the decision to keep the always injured, ageing Vermalean over him to be honest. Just more of an upside to Marlon at this point, especially now that we are struggling with a injury crisis in the CB area.

Heard Cucurella had a blinder against Madrid, though as a LM. We need a backup and eventually replacement for Alba. Can he make it? Not convinced by Miranda. Although, it seems Eibar have a buy option on him.

All the players who left this summer seem to be doing really well. Cucu, Palencia, Paco, Gomes, Mina.

Yeah, the thing is apparently EV never saw Cucu play at the B team and judged him on like 2 halves he played during the preseason and shushed him off. Cucu had either the assist or pre assist in all games today, really impressive. When you think about the conventional role a Barca full back plays, its not crazy to call it a LM role. Sort of like Alba at Valencia (remember Matheiu was their LB with Alba playing up front of him).

I did read we are scouting both Grimaldo and Onana about the possibility of coming back
