Re: Paulinho
At what position he is going to play ? What i have read that he can be used to play the role Busquets is doing.
Assuming will be deployed as a subs/ starter at cl and cup matches.

Re: Paulinho
Awful signing tbh.... possibly a good bench player but that's not what we needed. And almost 30 years old too... obviously a shady Bartolomeu deal that probably made him lots of money if anything.

Re: Paulinho
Paulinho now has 5 goals and 2 assists in the last 8 games with Brazil.
Hand him the captains arm band already, ffs.

He can't be worse than Busquets.

Re: Paulinho
He's been quite impressive for Brazil, to be fair to him. I don't believe he will make more of a difference than Gomes, though.

Re: Paulinho
the only bit of defending he did on the night, and it was for Chelsea
Also good job slowing down and breaking up every of the few attacks we had.

Re: Paulinho
I find it funny that when Rakitic and Paulinho plays together ... Paulinho has no interest to put the ball forward. Max he will do the side pass or the back pass. As if he has been asked to slow the tempo of the game.

Re: Paulinho
I basically hate the fact this guy is a regurlar starter for our club, RIGHT after we sold a similar nonsense purchase in Arda.

Re: Paulinho
The coach has to take the blame for Paulinho playing so much. I dont think he brings a whole lot of defensive stability either. He makes a lot of forward runs and leaves Busquets to cover a lot of space on his own. Rakitic is far more disciplined.

Re: Paulinho
Paulinho has the mentality to play for a small club, that is less organized and just relies on "making shit happen" with your determination. Like he basically likes to run and try and do allot of things, but he isn't helping our formation nor tactically when he is out of place so much. And when he is asked to play a more strict role and not run around so much, he feels uncomfortable and resorts to just passing the ball to the guy who's the most open, which is usually a defender. It's dumb as hell that because a the ball kept ricocheting off him to star the season, that the club would come out and say SEE!! He is great!! In reality I would of rather rolled the dice with Rafinha and Denis, and if someone was needed to come in I would of rather we brought in Goretzka who was available and interested.
Instead we loan out Arda and bring in Paulinho. Not sure if that's even a step sideways, as Arda can at least also play the wings, and wasn't so bad on the left wing in particular, and both are the same age.

Re: Paulinho
He's a great squad player, especially as a super sub with his box presence. Right now he is just tired. Chinese league ended when Spanish league started. So he's basically playing 2 consecutive seasons without break.

Re: Paulinho
Mixed.
I think he has just a couple of strengths, but those strengths could be leveraged better.
He is good at finding space in the box, he is good at late runs into the box and he is a capable finisher in the air or in the ground. Not common for midfielders.
He isnt good at what classic midfielders are good at, combinations, creativity and pass quality/choices.
Needs to used similar to how Keita was. With ball players all around him who need players to run onto their passes.
He will always look bad when isolated (the occassions he has been played wider) or deeper (because his natural instinct is to get into goalscoring positions).

I absolutely detested this signing and have still not gotten over my aversion completely but you have summed it all up in a very fair and balanced way.
