Nélson Semedo

Let's be honest, most of us probably haven't seen this guy actually play. But he's one of us now, and from reports I've read online, indicate he had a solid campaign last season.

He is officially signed on at 30,00 Mill. € from Benefca; let's discuss everything about him in this thread.

Anyway, I have literally seen nothing of this guy. Hope he delivers. Shame that Franchise isn't around these days, he had proper knowledge on Portuguese clubs & their talents.

I'm excited to see what Nelson can do. It's going to take a little while to adjust to Barca's way of play, but he can be one of the best RB's in the world. Great pace, energy, aggresiveness and technique.

How do you guys rate his debut in competitive game? To me he looked lively and much better than Vidal. I mean real players were running Vidal on all sides, while you could see they were more cautious with Semedo. So all in all an improvement in my book, not sure how much though!

He came on when players were tired and Marcelo had decided to not play as a defender anymore, but yeah, if anything he looked lively. I'm not a fan of judging players based on pre-season performance, but for what it matters, he looked a lot more composed on the ball than Danilo was during his pre-season debut.

Honestly, potentially the best FB of alltime. All his facets are top notch, decision making, skills with the ball, speed and can bomb both directions. Super impressed.

Upgrade or not is debatable. Roberto without a doubt has more brains than Semedo. Better vision and understanding of the game (or at least how Valverde wants to play).

Semedo on the other hand seems a beast physically. Pretty quick and strong. His technique is good too, but I just haven't seen anything special from him offensively. At all. He does the same 'pass and move' you learn when you're 10 all the time and his final balls have a lot to be desired.

Both are meh defensively in my opinion. I've seen Semedo losing the man he needs to mark all too often.

Brah u serious? Semedo has been more good to us than Roberto ever has been and God knows I love that Roberto kid. But fachts are fachts.

Too bad our fraud coach doesn't rate him.

Sergi Roberto has been far better than Semedo imho. He boy actually has some creativity.

But Gomes...no I can't defend that muppet

He has improved massively since he joined Barcelona a few years ago. Back in the day he was defensively prone to ball watching and contributed zero going forward. He has improved in both criteria. I thought he played a tidy match against Real Madrid and, if he was a bit more selfish, maybe could have got himself on the scoresheet too.

He is no Dani Alves, I wouldn't even put him in the world class category but he is good enough for now. Should be the preferred option to Sergi Roberto at RB.
