You know, if it weren't for VAR, Al Jazira has a 2-0 lead and we'll be discussing Zidane's inevitable departure. Because you know very well that goal was gonna stand in La Liga and UCL. They actually got the right call.

Or we'd be 1-0 up and cruising to a inevitable win hmm

The ref flipflopped 3 times, boy jusr couldn't make his mind up. Took a whole 4 minutes to finally come to a decision he wouldn't change his mind on. Awful piece of equipment that'll just cause more headache

Anyway VAR is used better than in Al Jazira - Real , calma
It hasn't to do with VAR , but with ref's incompetence

@Hans what do you think about VAR ? Never read a your opinion about it .
I wonder because just Serie A and Bundesliga have -for me the privilege- this.
I lead the Pro VAR wagon on Serie A thread, totally I love it and I can't still believe I' ve followed football without VAr for years.. Warrior leads the opposite faction

The issue isn't the technology, its the referees who aren't trained to utilize it properly, yet

If anything, it is going to lead to a new and better generation of refereeing in my opinion

I like it, wish it was implemented in La Liga but then again, considering refereeing in La Liga is dog poo, Spanish clubs would just have dog poo refs in the VAR room and on the field.

Still though, I like it. The ref in our match in the CWC showed the bad and the good side of it though...

Ruled out via VAR

I thought it was for clear and obvious mistakes?

Anybody who saw the game today (well I only saw half, but what a half it was) will know VAR did not cover itself in glory.

I like it for offside, but I'm very on the fence about use of VAR otherwise. People can disregard the whole "it sucks the life out of the game" point, but it's a valid point, and it's one that I think can only be counteracted if it can be shown that VAR consistently comes up with the right decisions.

It reflects what I always felt about technology in football. Use it for the things that can be done quickly and efficiently. Offside and goal line decisions, brilliant. So much else of football are shades of grey though, not black and white, and you have no guarantee that after 2-4 minutes of VAR, that the right decision will be made. VAR was used between 5 and 8 times that first half. It's absolutely ridiculous. Refereeing wise, there was nothing to like about the refs or VAR that half.

The only possible explanation is that they're trying to take down VAR by making it seem incompetent. WTF.

If it was disallowed by a foul on Llorente shouldn't it have been a pen?

This is just a snapshot too. Honestly you'd have to watch the game to get the full extent of how badly implemented VAR was.

Hopefully this game is the anomaly as far as VAR goes. Today's game in a vacuum would have any football fan sworn off of VAR forever. Truly horrid.

Is it just me that thinks that was the right call? Now I didnt see the game or how the VAR was implemented in it, but for that video it's clear to me that llorente was pulling the other guy and stopping him from getting to the ball thus allowing lamela to get it to score

Entirely agreed with CBarca, another bs call by VAR

Wasn't an obvious foul at all, with Blue #6 either diving or losing his balance Laughing

Incredible. You guys gonna ignore that both players are fouling? You guys gonna ignore that Llorente is pulled first? Llorente hardly pulls him at all, but AT BEST, both players are pulling on each other.

Is every corner going to be a penalty or a free kick for the defensive team now?

You guys have to be kidding me if you honestly think that there is a call to be made here.

These have to be some of the more perplexing comments I've ever read on this site.

Wow what a drama queen you are. They both fight for possession but Llorente pulls his opponent down to the ground.

Realistically, it could have been whistled either way. I personally respect and understand ref's decision here.

Nonetheless, you are blowing this way out of proportion. Calm your tittys

"It could have been whistled either way" is not a good excuse though. VAR is used to make the clear and correct decision. This was not. Rochdale defenders didn't appeal or think it shouldn't have stood, both Llorente and a defender are tugging at each other so at best it evens out. If it can go either way the goal is supposed to stand.

In any case, when has a little contact in the box ever been called? "it can go either way" is me granting some leeway here. It is unequivocally the wrong call, and this is the first time I've seen anyone claim it's the correct call. I have a feeling people want to make excuses for VAR here.

The referee gave the decision that it's a goal, and the use of VAR ruled out a legitimate goal. This is the system that is supposed to be correcting decisions. That's why I think it is a big deal. VAR was a lot more than just this call though. The entirety of both teams, the commentators, and the fans in the stadium were upset with the use of VAR on multiple occasions throughout the half. It completely ruined the game.

LOL

But still 'VAR' itself doesnt make a decision. It's still regular people who make the decision and many situations are hard to judge even if you have several replays.

I'm not gonna waste my time on you, ffs.

Yeah, viewed that goal way too many times than I ever would have and I too think it's a clear foul on Llorente. Big man literally pulled him back and #6 fell. Sure, they both did the usual tugging players do but Llorente went a lil extra and the ref called it.

Just checked the score, Spurs won 6-1. This level of extraness from cSpurs really is a bit odd.
