El Plastico 28/1/2017: RB Leipzig vs TSG Hoffenheim
vs
Tomorrow the famed El Plastico is taking place, the showdown between Red Bull funded RasenBallsport Leipzig and Dietmar Hopp/SAP funded TSG Hoffenheim
This game represents a veritable Bundesliga top match this time around, with Leipzig as the 2nd place 16/17 surprise sensation facing 3rd place Hoffenheim, the only unbeaten team in 16/17 European top leagues.
It is also a showdown between trending coaches Ralph Hasenhüttl and 29 year old wonderkid Julian Nagelsmann, and between in-form strikers Timo Werner and Sandro Wagner, both of which are on 10 league goals; with the rapid rise through the ranks of both clubs overseen by Ralf Rangnick.
TEAM NEWS:
Leipzig's 15m € supersub, the 'Scottish Bale' Oliver Burke, is confirmed out with the flu.
Experienced Leipzig CB and one time German NT player Mavin Compper, who was at Hoffenheim for 5 years and even became 2nd captain before being axed in 2013 amidst the clubs squad turmoil, is in doubt.
If he can't play, new 18 year old signing Dayot Upamecano is ready: "He's got the body of a buffalo, is technically versed and tactically quite advanced, too", Hasenhüttl said.
RB's top creator Emil Forsberg is still suspended after his red card tackle against Philipp Lahm on MD 16.
Hoffenheim's Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas will not be part of the squad, and likely not ever again, as he has been released from the squad to be able to negotiate for a transfer.
Vargas was bought in 2015 from Napoli but proved a huge dissapointment in Hoffenheim; he's rumoured to be going to join the UANL Tigres for 6m €, with Flamengo and Galatasary also interested.
Kick off: Saturday, January 28th, 15.30 CET, Red Bull Arena Leipzig
Possible lineups:
Leipzig:
Gulacsi - Bernardo, Orban, Compper, Halstenberg - Keita, Demme - D. Kaiser, Sabitzer - Ti. Werner, Y. Poulsen
Hoffenheim:
Baumann - Süle, Vogt, B. Hübner - Kaderabek, Zuber - Rudy - Demirbay, Nad. Amiri - Wagner, Uth

The most hated Derby in Germany! I think this was the one where Hoff fans threw a Bulls head on the pitch?
Lukas klostermann is still out with injury, thought he was supposed to come back for the ruckrunde. I think the obvious pick for a game with Hoff is a draw, they have had ten so far, this season. They played 2-2 in the inaugural El Superplastico.
Unfortunately, The Man is showing the Werder v Bayern game on TV, so i will have to stream this , which I will do after Werder goes down by three goals or around 5 minutes.
Yeah, the forwards are hot ( Wagner and Werner) but both teams have some good defenders as well Sule is going to bayern at the end of the year, I think Willi Orban is a good prospect. he is not that young, but I had never heard of him until this season.
RedBull is the betting favourite, by a big margin, but I will call 2-2 again.

Nah, I guess elfmeter is kidding. 'Most hated derby' not as in fierce rivalry but as in derby between the most hated clubs lol.
The one with the bull head was in the cup game Leipzig vs Dynamo Dresden, which is obviously a proper derby (even if RB is a new Leipzig club).
we covered it here

Actually last week the DFB-court finally confirmed that Dresden will have blocks closed (about 9000 people less) for one game as well as having to pay 40.000 €.
Tough shit. I thought it was pretty funny tbh and they didn't harm any person, either.
They smuggled the head into the stadium apparently with the inside help of some steward or something. 6 people have been implicated, with the main suspect working in a slaughterhouse

I think in the first game, it was mild mannered, where both sets of fans had self deprecating signs celebrating the "plasticness" of both teams.

Anyway
just for the sake of completeness
The game finished 2:1 for Leipzig and even got kind of heated at times, apparently.
Hoffenheim went up 1:0 with a beautiful counter attack before Leipzig turned it around with the help of a very harsh, undeserved Hoffenheim red card and two lucky, scrappy goals:
Werner with the help of rebounded blocked clearance, the block of which had a smack of handball to it, and Sabitzer with a deflected goal, a vicious deflection to a basically tame shot.
