Left: socialist economy, progressive society

Right: capitalist economy, conservative society

That's what it means for the average joe. It's only a concept to simplify one's general stance regarding politics. However it's true you can make doubtful shortcuts based on it.

Feels like I'm leaning towards right wing with age. Socially anyways.

The increasing woke agendas in every medium of entertainment and life is quite tiresome. It's not even about representation at this point but virtue signalling and self fulfillment.

Some of these questions warrant a more nuanced answer than a "yes or a "no". Like, this one.

The reason(s) for opting not to work matters. There are a lot of people who abuse social welfare goods in Norway, but a lot of people who opt not to work despite being physically able to do so, suffer from anxiety, depression or mental issues that prevent them from doing so.

I've never had depression or mental issues, so I can't imagine what that's like, but I think government provided therapy treatment for their issues makes more sense than allowing them to stay at home and just accept the fact that they have some type of handicap that won't go away, which I know some people here do. There were a few questions that aren't as black and white as the test forces them to become. I crossed out "agree", but it's not that simple.

Like RG, I also feel like I lean more towards the right these days. Dave Rubin summed up my view on progressives quite well in the video posted by Mystats. Ironically, I used to follow him when he was part of the Young Turks, and our political inclinations seem to have followed the same path.

I also agree with that statement, in fact i cannot believe anyone would disagree.

The way i understood it concerns specifically people who abuse social welfare. It's not about the disabled, or those who cannot work because they must take care h24 of a sick relative. And other special cases that makes it reasonable to receive some form of welfare.

Most companies have HR department to manage employees who burn out or fall into depression. You go on paid vacations and come back when you are fine.

Those who are broke, unemployed and supposedly deal with depression should leave TikTok, Netflix and co and find a job, just to see what it's like to be useful at something and having some financial independence.

So, it's a nuanced topic. People who are able to work, but opt not to do so because they want to stay home and play video games or do illegal, tax free work while also collecting regular salaries while on sick leave, is not the same as someone who occasionally can't go to work due to anxiety or whatever it may be. It's not a "they suck" or "they are amazing" kind of question, and I don't think the solution is to carpet blame them all for laziness or incompetence.

easier said than done when work culture is a farce, unemployment rates are high everywhere and there's more barriers (PHD, Masters) than ever before to get a "status job" which is what most kids are groomed to strive for their whole life.

As long as parents can work they should maintain the responsibility of financially caring for their children because they brought them into the world, doesn't matter if that child is 35 years old.

That's a message to all of you here that already have kids and plan on having kids as well. Don't expect your kid to bounce out of your house by 18 and be able to take care of themselves. The world isn't what it was in the 1980s anymore, i don't know why we pretend to still operate on old social paradigms.

If your kid wants to say fuck the government and fuck work, i'm never going to wage slave for anybody ever in my life - they are fully within their rights. They will have to bare those consequences, the parents will have to bare those consequences... and if the numbers become really high the government will have to bare those consequences because that's the type of citizen they groomed.

I honestly dont know what you mean, the question is about those who can work but don't, if you have a mental illness you can't work and should get a pension.

It's also not about those who take the occasional day off due to feeling low or depressed, it's about those who genuinely refuse to ever take up any work despite being able to do so

What you describe is quite a pathetic mentality of our generation. Broke yet entitled

Fuck work, fuck being a wage slave, instead i'll be a burden to my parents at 30 years old. Come on

Perhaps one day we won't have to work anymore because robots and AI will do everything. Very curious to see how it goes. In the meanwhile the best way to maintain some quality life standards as well as your dignity is by earning your own money. Social welfare gives you peanuts compared to a real salary.

As personal experience. In 2021-22 i did not work for 15 months Laughing it began as 2 weeks vacations and they extended forever because i thought work sucks, it's a waste of vitality, etc. Had enough money on the side to just chill and enjoy life. However i never claim any form of welfare or i'd could not look at myself in the mirror. When i became a bit broke i got off the couch and found a new job.

I'll be blunt as well: i am currently in the first days of another impromptu 2 weeks vacations. Felt like visiting New Brunswick so yeah, fuck work and my bosses, but at least i earn the right to be like that. Those vacations could last 2 months and government won't need to give me a cent.

Financially speaking it's definitely harder for our generation than our parents generation, that much cannot be denied.

But i don't think this is an excuse for giving up and live on others citizens taxes.
