Interesting. I don't follow MLS too closely, but the regulations feel reminiscent of the DP/allocation money setup (but perhaps without the infuriating "franchise" structure). If so, I'm curious to see the result. In MLS, the majority of "top" players are either rising American stars, homesick Internationals, or aging stars from other leagues.
What will be interesting is whether the Chinese League will still be able to attract talent (aging or otherwise) without the ridiculous spending. MLS struggles to attract top-end talent in the prime of their career, unless they are American-born. The majority of internationally recognized names come to the league only after their careers have begun to wan in Europe. However, I've always felt as though this has more to do with the attraction of American cities/marketing opportunities (in some cases) than the wages offered.
In short, I'm curious to see if China will be able to attract players (even aging ones) on the basis of anything other than astronomical wage.

Re: Welcome our Chinese Overlords
This is a good move. Footballers are getting way too much money & it is like a competition to pay absurd wages.
8 people have half of the world's wealth - It is crazy! Not just big teams in big leagues, but if China doesn't have a cap, then smaller teams will get decimated as the whole wage structure moves upwards massively as big teams will try to compete & the mid-table teams will try to stretch their wage bill upwards to remain relevant.
I would rather see more investment in youth football, stadiums & world class facility than the absurd money in wages & transfer fees !

Lavezzi joined the Chinese Super League a year ago today.
Since then he’s scored 0 goals and earned £20.8m

Everybody who wrote off China where are you at now?
China Just had a glorious victory against the mighty South Korea and are right back into qualifying for Russia 2018.
The system is producing.

We are here
Come back when they do something relevant if you are trying to boast, until then, nothing has changed.
For anyone that cares, I checked it out aaaaand its hilarious. Stay with me.
China has won 1 game in 6. They lost to Syria and Uzbekistan. That's right, China is below Syria and Uzbekistan, and maybe even below Qatar depending on their game in hand.
I guess being "right back into qualifying for Russia 2018" means being second to last when the last one has played a game less than you.
Of course if they do survive Qatar and surpass powerhouses Syria and Uzbekistan they wouldn't actually qualify. They would go into a playoff against another team from Asia, which they would probably lose since right now it looks like either Japan or Australia. IF they win that, then they go against a CONCACAF team. Only then can they get to the world cup, where can see if they are scrubs or not.
This is even more premature than fapping to Origi

I agree its a stacked group. A lot of hard places to go and pick up points.
China is in a pole position for the playoff spot looking at the fixtures coming up though. I am not convinced by Iran.

Re: Welcome our Chinese Overlords
I'd like to see Uzbekistan in the World Cup, i would root for them. At this point they are still in good position for a direct spot.
China however is 4 points behind the third place with 4 games left to play for which they will travel to Iran, Syria and Qatar. Logically they will drop points here and there if we follow your logic.
As far as i'm concerned the Chinese football federation are underachievers. With such a huge population pool they can't manage to develop one single star player and the national team hasn't done anyhing relevant since 2004.

China can't beat a team coming from a war torn country, a country that has been in a 5 year civil war.

China's starting XI for the 2030 world cup final ^^
I sincerely think 2030 is a realistic target for China to fulfill its potential (let's say being on par with Japan and SK). They just need to put the money in the right place; and that is not overspending on shit players like Oscar rather than investing in football academy and scouting.

Betty pls stahp. Uzbekistan? they lost to Uzbekistan?
they're barely a level above Malta ffs. Who even plays for them? bunch of part time borats and farm hands.
Chinese football is suffering under the weight of Hulks, Ramires, etc imo

decent lineup but I'd like to see Zhuge Liang managing them, tactically he's a level above everyone else in the game. Would also like to see Dian Wei starting at CB. Lad is a tank. Not sure about Lu Bu starting alongside Guan Yu either, no doubt he's the best chinese player ever, but he isn't much of a team player.

Googled SUN CE-XIAHOU
Sun Ce (175–200),courtesy name Bofu, was a military general and warlord who lived in the late Eastern Hans dynasty.
Seems legit

If you have Lu Bu and Guan Yu, you can't bench them. Imo Yue Jin is a scrub and should be replaced with Ma Cao, best fullback in china galloping down that wing.

Great pôst loool
I see Zhuge Liang as a Pirlo type of player while Cao Cao is clearly the leader/manager China needs. And yes i forgot Dian Wei... clearly an improvement over Xu Zhu who's quite slow after all.

Re: Welcome our Chinese Overlords
Seriously, how can a team lose to Syria?
Chinese player : hey, how was the jirny?
Syrian blayer: oh , nothing interesting. Survived two suicide bombing ,a rocket attack, two drone strikes and one kidnab in blane .

Adit's hands apparently has the flu.
On topic of the Chinese team, the omission of Zhou Yu and Sun Jian is a serious oversight.
The team should be focused on realistic achievements, not tabloid bias and reputation.
