Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
I find it funny to see so many people underestimating Chelsea. If Hazard gets back to form they are favorites imo

Yea don't get that either tbh. Chelsea are going to be right up there. Only thing which might worry Chelsea fans is the lack of a good CB.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
Chelsea doesn't play in a European competition this season and that is a big advantage that they should take.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
We're 3 players short of having a title challenging team.
It'll be a busy end to the window for us, and it'll make or break our season.
At this point, top 4 is the best we can hope for.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
Reading through various journalists and pundits predictions online (mirror, daily mail, bbc etc)
These are the average positions based on their prediction
1) Man United (overwhelming favourites for 90%)
2) Man City (General opinion is that the players aren't suited for pep lol)
3) Chelsea (very close with Liverpool as it was 50-50 most places)
4) Liverpool (No europe so most are saying they will go all out in the league but don't have the quality to challenge for the PL)
5) Tottenham ("mentally better". No idea what that means)
6) Arsenal (80% predict we will not finish in the top 4 and this is the year we drop out. Can't disagree with our transfer window
7) Leicester (Literally no one think they will finish in the top 4 lol )

It's incredible how much of a hype machine Man United have.
They have the whole British press dancing to their tune.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
Leaving the jokes aside, lol at anybody that seriously consider something from mass-media.
The persons who aren't able to understand that we are talking about a few financial super powers who invested their money to bring success in their houses, which start the new season with the same chances of winning the EPL, should try to come back to reality.
Hyped or not, everything's a mystery. There are too many aspects to take in consideration in a competition like this. Nothing can truly be predicted. So, the media should go to hell in my opinion. It doesn't matter what the mass-media says. It is equal with zero. And the people who believe what media predicts are very disoriented. I mean, it's really bad.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
man u will win the title. they have made great signings plus the way mourinho plays is easy to pick up quickly for the players. the guy parks the bus and buys world class talent up top to score the goals. its simple but effective.Hapless_Hans wrote:It's incredible how much of a hype machine Man United have.

Not necessarily, they finished 10th last season. What makes you think they'll find it very easy to win the title? In fact I feel they are getting overrated here. The players lack any sort of drive, and Conte has a big job of mentally getting them back to their best. No doubt he will succeed on that part, but then there's also the fact that he is managing in a different league.
Same can be argued for Pep, although Man City have unreal depth and weren't in that bad of position last season as were Chelsea.

Mourinho has won titles with players like Wayne Bridge, Eidur Gudjohnsen, (prime) Joke Hole in the team.
Compare that team to this United, and you will find that the latter is vastly superior. The guy clearly knows how to win games and titles.. why do you think they appointed him in the first place and fulfilled his player demands?

Mou also took a title winning squad down the shitter just this past season. And his title winning Chelsea was far superior to the current MU team - no disrespect.
Conte is working with largely the same squad, and isn't having the same friction that Mou had with half his dressing room last season. They did improve vastly after Mou was sacked.

That said, I would still think one of the Manchester clubs to win the title barring big surprises.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
I don't believe Man Utd should be considered title favourites in my opinion. I still feel as though their defence isn't strong, and I don't believe mourinho is an amazing coach right now. I think there are better teams than Man Utd in the premier league.

They weren't as star studded as this Man Utd team.. Mou made them superior and a team to be feared as they were by making clutch signings in the form of Ferreira, Carvalho, Robben, Essien, Drogba, etc. and exploiting the tactics prevalent in English football that time.
His last season at Chelsea was plagued with mentally weak players playing with a lack of passion (having won the PL the preceding season), not getting the signings he wanted, etc. Such one-off seasons have become common now.. if players can go through a rough patch, why cannot managers?
I agree that his man management skills aren't that good but his tactical prowess definitely triumphs that as far as short-term goals are concerned.
