Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
Arda Guler has to start.
Guler playing won't be the reason the team wins or loses but it's crazy to see a team starving for attacking invention and imagination leaving a player with those qualities on the bench.
Benching Mbappe isn't the solution. Definitely.
The system is the problem and what role Bellingham plays.
There are enough good players in the squad and the youth team to win games.
If Ancelotti doesn't try something new this weekend or doesn't get a good result, he's gone.

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
Mbappe n Bellingham are never gonna be dropped, happy to say that So its either Rodrygo or Guler plays I imagine. Just read Ancelotti says hes worked out the problem n mainly saying its teamwork n focus on better defending So not sure if thats gonna happen with the current team... as said above the likes of Mendy n Lucas arent good enough n the rest r under performing, together with Mbappe problem... seems not that complex but not easy to fix either, who woulda thought would be this bad...
From what I seen in the past Rodrygo is able put in his share of defending, if so then just play him n drop Tchua n have Cama in there if he can be disciplined as well? The others will help... but up front it is really up to Mbappe if he adapts or not... dont see any other way basically, if he stays the same he will continue to flop...

Definitely Carlo needs to try out something new, recycling the same lineup and expecting different results has not worked so far
If I were him I'm putting out this lineup:
Actually leave the left wing for Mbappe for once and try Vini as a false 9 who makes runs in-behind. Maybe he is better at staying onside
If I were him I'm putting out this lineup:
Fede-Militao-Rudiger-Fran
Modric Camavinga
Bellingham
Rodrygo Vini Mbappe
Modric Camavinga
Bellingham
Rodrygo Vini Mbappe

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
There is enough desperation at this point, I would try Fede and Camavinga as the laterals.
I agree Guler needs to start.
And why not move Mbappe to Right Wing with either Endick as CF or Bellingham as a false 9
On defense when is Alaba coming back? They had said November. I think Militao has lost something after the ACL. I would try Alaba, when he is available with Rudiger.
I know all of this isn’t feasible, in a lineup, but I do feel Carlo has to try different tactics and lineup. These are just examples of what he could try.

Now why am I seeing reports as Ancelotti is trying to train Mendy as a midfielder? This is quite obscure

I don't want to see Valverde as a right back ever again. What a waste that is.
Bellingham should be in midfield. But I don't think Ancelotti seeing him as a central midfielder.
The fact that Modric is being burdened, at 39 yrs, to bring control to this midfield..
And Rodrygo has looked better playing as a striker than Mbappe

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
One silver lining to the Militao injury is that when Tchouameni comes back that's where he will have to play the whole season, hopefully leading to the establishment of Fede and Camavinga as our actual deeper center midfielders.
The main problem with Tchouameni is his price tag and the starting player expectations that come with that. From the first videos I saw of him I didn't like him, it was obvious he lacks elite turning ability, ball control/ press resistance (and all that entails), agility, nimbleness, running speed, and his passing is functional within a limited sense at best. We can sell him if we need more money I suppose but he could also be a good squad player that may end up being better as CB than CM.
Hope the best for Militao but I'm starting to see Carvajal, Alaba, and Militao (hopefully not) as all ex footballers, and Mendy and Fran as not good enough. We will probably have to loan and acquire CBs shrewdly who are veterans and in accessible contracts.
We need a new elite RB (ideally 2 RBs), It could be good if we can sell Mendy and Fran for Davies and Gutierrez, a couple of new stop gap CBs, and one more squad CM.
As for how we should play, surely it comes to the 4222 or 4141/4231 with everyone having to pick up their intensity and Vinicius ideally not being indulged defensively.
Dark days these.

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
Well finally they are playing well. Mbappe and Vinicius playing well together. Actually the injuries have helped (at least for today) as Fede better than Lucas, Raul (this kid looks good) better than Militao, Camavinga better than Tchouameni and (for now) Fran better than Mendy.
And that pass from Lunin, just fabulous.
Looks like both Guler and Endick coming into game.

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
Militao with confirmed ACL injury. With 2 meniscuses affected. Madridista doctor on X estimates 12 month recovery period.
Best wishes to him, I'll consider him a retired player from here on out. The club needs to make better decisions in the transfer market and maybe something is going wrong with the player physical preparation system as well inside the club. Militao got overloaded with playing time.
The club will have to see how we can get the funds to redesign the entire defense. Tchouameni's future pointing more and more towards CB. We prob can't sell him now, too important as a squad player. This might accelerate a high bid selling of Rodrygo perhaps. Stadium naming rights? I remember last month there were rumors Perez might be thinking of restructuring club governance structure too to bring in more money.
La lesión de Militao debería estar más cerca de los 12 meses que de los 9, al igual que la de Carvajal.

This is not just a case of bad luck. Real Madrid have likely become the latest victim of this cascade effect below, with this latest Militão ACL tear. Nacho leaving, Alaba’s long-term injury plus delaying recruitment plans for a Nacho replacement has overburdened Militão with… https://t.co/RoW6AciXzz

The team is being overworked. Too many ACL injuries for it to be a coincidence. Our team also looks drained compared to other teams

Camavinga
Fran played well I thought. Will never be the world's best but helps us win back the ball quickly when we lose it
Valverde could be a magnificent RB if he ever wanted to play that position
Devastating injury for Militao. Another ACL, that must be tough
