Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
Sri wrote:Mou also took a title winning squad down the shitter just this past season. And his title winning Chelsea was far superior to the current MU team - no disrespect.
Conte is working with largely the same squad, and isn't having the same friction that Mou had with half his dressing room last season. They did improve vastly after Mou was sacked.
They weren't as star studded as this Man Utd team.. Mou made them superior and a team to be feared as they were by making clutch signings in the form of Ferreira, Carvalho, Robben, Essien, Drogba, etc. and exploiting the tactics prevalent in English football that time.
His last season at Chelsea was plagued with mentally weak players playing with a lack of passion (having won the PL the preceding season), not getting the signings he wanted, etc. Such one-off seasons have become common now.. if players can go through a rough patch, why cannot managers?
I agree that his man management skills aren't that good but his tactical prowess definitely triumphs that as far as short-term goals are concerned.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
I don't see how a title smashing squad can be mentally week. And these are professionals. Pinning it on their lack of passion is also more an alibi. Mou lost his dressing room, simple as. Can't paint Chelsea 2015/16 any other way.
The same bunch performed oh so much better under Hiddink.

Say same thing about City and Chelsea tbh, if you think lack of quality is the reason for their seasons last year when they finished 1st and 2nd the year before you are in for a rude awakening lol.

United 14 pts behind league leaders
City 12 pts behind league leaders
Let's be real here. With 16 games to go, both are virtually out of the title race.
The amount of people here who have City or United as champs

Who is saying otherwise?
United's title challenge was over as early as November with that draw to West Ham and City's well got was done and dusted yesterday perhaps.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
Yeah both Manchester clubs are done for the title, Chelsea will be champion.
Man City needs a better defense, from what i saw of them. Guardiola is obsolete, unfortunately for him he got lost in his own mania of displaying players out of position. Next thing you know Kolarov will be the starting CF.
What about Man Utd ? Well, they spent 200 millions this summer yet they are 6th in the league and their best player is Carrick. Kinda summarize the whole thing.
Can't wait for the clashitco on Feb. 26 !

BAH GAWD, Pep played an aging fullback who's good on the ball as a CB. There is nothing crazy/special about that. A lot of fullbacks end up moving to the middle, especially as they get older.
Who has he played out of position aside from Zabaleta? Zabaleta played as a RCM twice. Apart from that who else?

What?!! Who told you that? A City fan? Cos its evident you dont have a clue. Stick to Serie ZZZ pls.
Carrick is an important player and makes the system work. But he certainly is not our best player. If you have a gameplan you can easily negate the influence of Carrick in a game and in the process make him look quite poor (like how Klopp showed). Heck, he cant even play two games a week and you are calling him our best player.
Ibra and Valencia have been our best players this season closely followed by the 2 Spaniards Ander and Juan.

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
Teams like Tottenham, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd potentially missing CL football is a disgrace.
It's about time UEFA gets some balls and gives La Liga's 4th spot to the Premier League, how many times are we going to have to suffer teams like Valencia getting stuffed by Gent or Man City thrashing Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao failing to go through the group stages against Porto and Shakhtar and don't even get me started on Real Sociedad.... all this while one of these Premier League teams miss out the entire tournament. C'mon, enough is enough!

Re: Premier League Top 7 this season
I don't wanna live in a world where CL giants like Liverpool who won 1 CL game in the last 7 years miss out on next season's CL football tbh. It would be truly disgraceful.
