Match will be fine but match quality is rarely a problem. Having somebody who only just looks credible now against a grade A jobber is just not Summerslam material.
Then you factor in it's for the biggest title in the company and it just hurts deep insdie.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 29
Well i agree tbh.
My thought process was when it happened is that they want to build up below Orton, Styles, Cena and Wyatt.
Which is why Corbin and Crews was in the main event, not sure in this instance it's the right move but i think that's why it happened.
Could say that's why Balor happened ( instead of giving Zayn, Rusev, Owens or Reigns the main event slot), only difference is Balor is fresh in most peoples minds and him being in the main event push is fine until people get pissed.
Where as Ziggler got stale 3 years ago and now you are asking people to get invested again? nah, not happening.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 29
Smackdown....Jaysus....that was rough to watch. I like Becky Lynch and Natalya, but man this show lost the battle when it came to the women. Nia Jax would wreck all of them.
Agree that the whole setup of the show just didn't look right. Raw looked better, had more balance, but that's to be expected as it definitely has the better roster. Smackdown needs to compensate for that and this show didn't help it whatsoever. I think Ziggler/Ambrose will be pretty good though. Not what we wanted to see, but it'll be a spectacle nonetheless.
I really hope Mauro drops the teen lingo in his commentary. There's only so much of that shit I can take.

Smackdown has been under RAW's shadow since like 2004 so it's going to take a long time for it to establish itself.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 29
It was made to look worse than it is by the setup of the matches imo.
Even without a brand split a 6 man main event and a battle royal wouldn't go down well.
I expect next week's to be better, it can't be any worse anyway lol.
As for the Women, Becky is great imo. The problem is Natalya, she's a licence to fall asleep. I mean the Womens division had hype going into Wrestlemania with Becky, Sasha and Charlotte.
Natalya gets involved and everyone is falling asleep again, also shock and horror it starts to look good again when they remove her from the picture surprise surprise.
Also they haven't debuted yet but Alexa Bliss and Carmella are great, but yeah Natalya is a snooze fest.

I'm kind of glad you started to watch WWE regularly, mole. This thread was kind of dead because it was only me, MT, RG, and Tom who watched regularly a few years ago lol.

Stopped watching NXT regularly after KO got called up. I'd watch the debuts on youtube, but I only really watch takeovers.
NXT has become pretty meh since Dusty passed away tbh.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 29
Was a complete accident tbh, i watched the Rumble because i wanted to see AJ Styles lol.
For first few weeks i only watched it to keep up to date with how he did and then i realised i liked quite a lot of the roster. I just didn't like how it was booked and still don't tbh
, but continue to watch because i foolishly think the talent will overcome it.

Tbh it has been meh with a few shining examples since Wrestlemania due to WWE gutting the roster.

I do think this Takeover will be good though, the main event will probably be better than anything at Summerslam lol.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 29
Nakamura interview on TIJ
http://www.podcastone.com/Talk-Is-Jericho
His English is better than I thought
Some notes:
- He first came to the USA in 2004 to train in the Inoki dojo. He shared an apartment with Daniel Bryan, and former UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida.
- He was contacted by WWE after his match against Ibushi in WrestleKingdom 9. He told them to call him a year later because that was when his contract was going to expire.
- He decided to go to WWE in fall 2015 because he wanted a new experience and felt like he did everything he could do in Japan.
- He was very nervous when he told the higher ups in NJPW about his decision. He knew they invested a lot into him, but they ultimately understood his reasoning.
- He was a fan of cruiserweights growing up. Originally, he wrestled as a cruiserweight, but the trainers told him a guy with his long legs looked awkward doing high flying moves.
- He changed his gimmick when he went to Mexico in 2011. The tsunami floods gave him the realization that life is short and that he should enjoy his character. The suits in NJPW weren't happy but eventually caved in. To them, a guy like Nakamura was supposed to be serious, strong style, instead he became something much much different.
- His favorite wrestler is Jushin Thunder Liger.
- Did MMA and wrestling back and forth until 2006 when he decided to wrestle full-time.
- Likes to live near the beach.
- Michael Jackson and Freddy Mercury were his biggest influences (I kind of lost track on why they were his biggest influences).
-He says what happens between the moves is more important than the moves itself. And that's the number 1 rule of advice he gives the younger guys.
- He's a fan of Tye Dillinger and thinks Tye struck gold with his character.
- The knee-based striking style comes from his MMA experience. He thinks knees are the most dangerous part of the human body because he felt their impact from his MMA career.
- His favorite opponent in NJPW was Ishii.
- He doesn't see HHH often, but when he does HHH always tells him to do what he wants.
- He was a bit nervous when he first met Vince Mcmahon.
- The first guy he saw after the Zayn match was Vince. He was shocked that Vince watched him and doesn't remember what Vince told him.
- He was relieved when the fans started chanting Nakamura before the Zayn match. He thought fans might not know who he is.
- He talks about how fans tattoo his face on their bodies, and he thinks it's a little awkward, but thanks them anyway.
- He wants to work with John Cena. He originally thought Cena was your typical American wrestler, lots of muscles, little skill, but he ended up changing his mind when he met him.
- His favorite match was against Kota Ibushi in Tokyo Dome.
- Jericho mentioned Kota Ibushi probably signing with WWE, and Nakamura said "Kota's strange guy"
- His fav. MJ song is human nature.
- His fav. queen song is bicycle race.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 29
NXT weekly has gotten really good again after the last Takeover. In the past few weeks we got
Finn Balor vs Nakamura
American Alpha vs The Revival 2 out of 3 falls
American Alpha vs Authors Of Pain
Nia Jax vs Bayley
Samoa Joe vs Rhyno
Kota Ibushi debut
Austin Aries heel turn
Joe vs Nakamura set up
Great matches, great stories too.

Cheers, will listen to it later.
Knew about the him being nervous about leaving NJPW before because i have heard AJ, Anderson and Gallows mention it on various different podcasts.

He's 100% right about this though also i agree with him on Tye Dillinger tbh. I love his gimmick, just wish they would give him a push he deserves tbh.
