Considering the prevailing condition of their country, The Zimbabweans should be awarded a medal just for making it to the Olympics.Germany 6:1 Zimbabwe (Group F, Sao Paolo)

GO CANADA !!!!
I don't know much about women football but i think we have a decent team. Flopped last year at home in the world cup, but we won the previous one (or was it Olympics 2012 ?).

USA gold is fixed unless they somehow choke it or Brazil uses the home advantage, Germany have lost all their experienced players.

Yeah and the woodchoppers of Zimbabwe managed to badly injure Simone Laudehr (ruptured ligament in the left ankle) in the first match, too (they pretty much kicked everything that wasn't on the trees by three and the referee didn't even whistle).

The better tournament for sure. Probably the only event I'll watch. The rest of the Olympics, I simply won't.
Good win for USA against France. Carli clutch again.

Re: 2016 Olympics Women Football Tournament
Same for me, maybe i'll watch women volleyball too if i catch it on TV. I prefer by far the Winter Olympics.McLewis wrote:The better tournament for sure. Probably the only event I'll watch. The rest of the Olympics, I simply won't.
Canada vs Germany is a very big match, scheduled on Tuesday august 9. A draw would be enough for us to pass.
I think it's important for the women national team to perform well, because it increases the visibility/popularity of soccer in Canada. Lost faith in our men's NT years ago so ladies are our only chance to shine.

Hey, I was too lazy to look for an English overview. And as they put the flags next to the countries, I thought people could tell what is meant

Re: 2016 Olympics Women Football Tournament
Maybe I am showing my age, but who would have thought that going into the final game of the group stage, that Germany need to get a result over Kanada to advance (OK, not really true, third place teams can also qualify) to get to the ko round.
On that note does Germany even have any Olympians in Brazil? I was watching rowing and did not see one single German team. Maybe a couple of swimmers, but not a lot of athletes in other sports. Maybe I really am showing my age, but back in my day Germany were always up in the top 5 (and i am not including the East Germans) and seemed to have athletes in every competition.
Have not been back in about ten years, but are all German kids eating McDonalds and playing Xbox nowadays?
But I digress, I am now Canadian and hope the Canadians go through to the final and get revenge over those American Biatches.

Is it just me or women don't fish and dive as much as men?
They just get up and get on with it, Always seem to play to the whistle.
