The work permit rule is ruining PL football IMO.

Re: Official: Arsenal sign Takuma Asano
It's just absolutely moronic.
so the purpose is to give homegrown youngsters a better chance, yet the PL is the only league with this kind of restriction and still does the worst with their youngsters.
the work permit rule systematically undermines the possibility of having players develop into top players.
Liverpool are thin in central midfield, have a top prospect in Allan, yet they can't have him be part of the squad because he's nt a Brazilian NT player.
Ridiculous. Terrible. Absolutely idiotic.

I actually admire the UK for not giving preferential treatment in terms of visa processing just because you're a footballer... the delays are what they are and you have to wait your turn.
It's the same in the US for those who wonder.
It's on the clubs to understand the process and make decisions based on the timing involved. You can't blame the system.

It's the UK's immigration laws. The only way the FA has gone awry with their attempts to improve the pool of English talent is with the homegrown rule.

It's true we don't allow special treatment for athletes, but our immigration laws are a lot more lax than the UK. Our league would be so much worse off if it was as difficult to get a work permit here as it is there. I don't ever remember there being any issue of a player MLS was trying to sign but couldn't play right away due to labor reasons or whatever. Like we've signed a couple players from the J-league and they came over right away.

Stuttgart is a big club in Germany, they will dominate the 2nd division. It's a good move if he gets playing time. I also doubt Stuttgart was Wenger's first choice for him.

Arsenal's striker #Asano will stay at #Stuttgart for another season, because he failed to get a work permit in the UK. (Bild)

At least he had a good season and will be playing in the Bundesliga now. A distant glimmer of hope still remains that he won't go the way of Ryodinho before him.
