They have a great GK+ defense, but apart from that they're relying on 'intensity and teamwork'. The poor quality further up the pitch will show as the tournament progresses.

Conte would have to be Michels reborn if he could win them the tournament.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but I'll accept the effort they showed today. Conte's teams never lack that and that's something special.

Also, it really depends on the draw. Match ups make these tournaments.

@Luca,if Italy top the group,they face Spain/Croatia in the R16 and Germany in the QF

If they finish 2nd in the group,they'll most likely face Portugal in the R16.

All these teams are no walk in the park and comfortably better than Belgium.

I'll be pretty surprised if they go very far in this tournament especially if they finish as group winners.Its actually better to finish 2nd than 1st in this group

Depending on who they get drawn with, they can get pretty far imo but I won't knee jerk because they looked like gods against a unorganized team like Belgium. Italy's greatest strength as that they know how to play as a unit, and all play 100% for Italy. You watch Belgium and you can't see that same passion, nor fire that the Italian players have. So yea, I'm not going to knee jerk but they did look really solid today and I hope they get far.

It was halfway decent for much of the game. They still gifted Lukaku a 1v1, Origi had two tap ins, and shortly after one Origi chance, Fellaini could have put it in.

Game is about skill but you need some luck, and tonight, Italy was a bit lucky Belgium couldn't shoot even if they had High Noon available

I wasn't really being serious but these are all simply wrong. Belgium took a ridiculous number of shots (read somewhere it was highest in Euro history without scoring) but they didn't actually have many clear cut chances. For the vast majority of the game Italy was extremely comfortable and Buffon didn't have a single difficult save to make.

Italy are a poor team yes. But today they completely dominated Belgium, there's no doubt about that. Had 4 or 5 very good chances, didn't concede many themselves, and were always in control.

Italy won't win it, but Conte proved Italy can top their group. They can't expect much more than the Quarters with this squad, and after tonight's showing, I think they'll make there.

Wish Marchisio + Verrati were healthy.

Not putting too much stock into this win since this EPL XI team is average as hell and dont know how to play like a team.

Just glad we're not getting embarrassed like everyone was predicting.

If Italy get out of the group in 1st or 2nd place it will be an achievement for this Italian team.

His tactics were very evident throughout the game, Italy played very narrow, and since Belgium didn't have ANY natural width, they played right into Italy's hands. The only time Belgium really had a chance was when Italy were countered and Lukaku missed his lob. Aside from that, the tactics were faultless.

Could you imagine watching this game as Wilmots and not thinking 'hmm, maybe I should sub Fellaini off for a winger? '

Lmao the farthest this team can hope to make is Quarters if they are really lucky. My bet is they get knocked out in Round of 16 by Croatia or Spain.
