Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
i don't even think the doctor knows when bale will be back. what's for sure is, when he comes back, he'll get injured again. if not this season, then like twice next season. what's amusing is someway somehow there's this rumor making the rounds that people in the club think its the grass at the bernabeu causing it....newsflash, he doesn't only play at the bernabeu, hell he doesn't even train there, not to mention when grass started causing calf problems. the man has had muscle, hamstring, back and foot injuries

No time for hesitation. Fire the grass and use Zidane instead

Bale
People love to hate on Ronaldo, but his consistency at the top of the world is truly unreal. Hats off to him.
Thanks rwo, I'll fix em up in the source for next time
For all this talk of MSN, it's BBC that are in the top 5
Productive doesn't necessarily imply totals, and it's still a much more suitable word than "effective" if you're really looking to nitpick at that level. The only thing you're measuring here is contribution to goals, or production. That doesn't determine how effective or efficient a player is.

Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
I think we should add a couple of categories:
- Number of games where a player has had a goal
- Number of games where a player has had an assist
- Number of games where a player has had either a goal or an assist
- goals and assists versus top 5 in the league and in CL
Probably too complicated... but it would have more depth to the statistical analysis.

Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
Efficient is the word.
Efficacy: get it done.
Efficiency: get it done with the less resources (in this case, time on the pitch).
Did you check these players: Kane, Aguero, De Bruyne, Douglas Costa?
ON the transfermarkt vs. Whoscored debate, I'm undecided. I think it would be nice to have data from all the official competitions, but I understand that the criteria is different. However, it would also be different for every player, so the field would be even.

Anyone else have an opinion on transfermarkt (wide assists, penalties & more competitions) vs whoscored (direct passes & only Europe and local league)?

I prefer transfermarkt also. The more information available the better.

With transfermarkt, you could add the numbers for the domestic cups, too, which are missing with whoscored.

Just saw Aguero is in there. What about Mesut Ozil and Michy Batshuayi?
Good job BC, appreciate it.
Maybe you could do as said, to get the data from Cups from transfermarkt, would be the best option, if you are up to it.
Nice advertising footnote... through which media do you plan to spread it?

Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
People in the past have asked about spreading these so I put these in there, but I don't have an advertising plan or anything. Last season I put them up on the goallegacy twitter but never did anything with that.
Also it looks like we are leaning towards transfermarkt now. We have 3 in favor (rwo, harmonica, curtinho) and 1 undecided (free). I appreciate the feedback on this, please keep it coming, otherwise it looks like the next update will use transfermarkt.
Those all made the 'shortlist' of 75ish players but didn't make the top 30 cut:
Harry Kane Tottenham 2642 18 2 132.10 0.68
Kevin de Bruyne Manchester City 2092 6 9 139.47 0.65
Mesut Oezil Arsenal 2627 6 17 114.22 0.79
Michy Batshuayi Marseille 2616 15 7 118.91 0.76

De bruyne. His only outstanding attribute is supposed to be his productivity, and he isn't even cutting it there.

Having thought about it, I don't think we should add transfermarkt data....
Just kidding, let me laugh while I can (although I will continue to laugh when you add his ton of goals and assists in the meaningless League Cup and still is kind of at the bottom).

Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
Marginalizing KdB's impact in the League Cup isn't going to help...lol, they're largely in the final of that competition because of his contributions there. Not to mention every opponent he has played in that tournament has been a PL team (except Hull, who will be a PL team next season and are nowhere near as bad as some other teams playing in top flights).
In what way? Generally speaking they provide a game by game analysis of each player's stats so you can go and see where they assisted/scored, and a brief description of how it was done.

Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
Some one on Instagram had a stat that Ronaldo has 24 assists since the start of last season. More than any other player in Europe in that time frame.
Can anybody confirm if that stat is true?

Re: Most Effective Player of 2015-16
...and that's after the corrupt refs in La Liga tried to help Barcelona by taking away a good goal by Bale.
Bale is a beast.
Also I believe Ousmane Dembele should be on the list. He has a goal or assist every 94.71 mins.
