It's time we accept Higuain is an elite striker

So after doing the sheeple thing to do and read an entire thread, only a very few people actually mentioned Benzema. Arq made the mention in his post w.r.t the Benzema-Higgy debates of yore.

Courtesy of the Madrid: Benzema v Higuain debate that has raged on within GL for years, his some underwhelming performances against big moments have been magnified on this forum given it has been used as a consistent crux in support of the debate in favour for Benzema, hence why it all his failures in some big matches are far far more scrutinized then other strikers as it is similar to Zlatan's failures in some CL matches despite his record and countless performances within the CL.

I think Andrew of Juve, LePrada and Nick tried to be mischievous but everyone, from all accounts, try to keep the discussion Benzema free.

Yes, Higuain would inevitably go cold in a big match and everyone would be like "see, another big match, another failure" and then some others would say "So x match and y match isn't big" and Mole would be like "lol, no" and all sorts of repetition until he scores against Juve in Turin and we restart the process.

TL:DR Move on man, Higgy is no longer a problem to you or yours and people are fans of him.

Mind you that Higuain is neither the first nor the last striker to miss clear-cut chances in crucial games.

doc that bs and you know it, i was here when those debate was going on remember? higs got a free pass for all of his misses and weak performances, because "he loves the club more" , it took the WC final for a lot of posters on here, to truly own up on a lot of his misses, before that higs sale was always a mistake to some and even now.

I usually called higs a choker way before anyone, got flamed for it repeatedly and honestly i don't even care about higuain nowadays, he is very good at best imo but he is a fine example, that i like to use similarly to isco, to prove that a lot of posters on here are full of crap and clearly agenda driven, all this "madrid deserve the best and if you don't play well gtfo" only apply to certain players, thus making a lot of opinions shit and sheepish.

I'm pretty sure by now 90% of the times Benzema is mentioned in a derogatory fashion it's only meant to troll YOU, not to talk down Benzema.

Higuain is right were he needs to be, low expectation club, weak league, finally at 28 playing the best football of his life. But how quickly do we forget that he missed crucial moments not that long ago that would have made the difference for his team?

For my part, if there are any defenders in the league who can potentially match him stride for stride, strength for strength, it's Manolas and/or Rudiger. That said, all it takes is for one or both of these 2 to switch off and Higgy's there to molest our backline.

I'm with Chadito on this one. He's doing great now, but when it's crunch time he'll fold under pressure.

Hopefully he'll continue his great season dishwashing goals and not crunch under pressure when the big games arrives.

Agreed. Hope Napoli reaches latter stages of EL or even go on to win the league with Higuain being decisive so this tag can get off his shoulders

To be fair he came up pretty big for them already over the last two years. They would have not won those trophies without him. Especially the game against Juventus for the Supercoppa given he scored both goals for Napoli (one in the 118th minute) and scored his penalty.

But most people don't watch Serie A and just rate him on a game or two for Argentina.

He has already decided big games this year though
So far in Serie A he is a real big games player,it's a fact .The only thing to discredit him  was that penalty kick missed against Lazio ... when  he had scored 2 goals in that match . Like saying Italy lost WC 94 because of Baggio

Not yet, he's on an "elite form" if im allowed to use that expression, but ill wait until the second half of the season/last 3 months to decide. If he finally overcomes his one weakness (which might be magnified i have to admit) then ill ride the higuain wagon and be happy about it.
