- Spoiler:
Loved Ivan Ooze, was frightening imo as a villain, also the scene with Wolverine
Kinda confused about that scene, did they bin Xmen Origins Wolverine? Striker looks different and the facility is different as well
- Spoiler:
Whole universe got rebooted after days of the future. Xmen origins nor Wolverine 2 exists anymore.
Whole universe didn't get rebooted, to Wolverine everything still happened. I'd imagine the scenes from before 1973 in Origins are still canon though, since it's only event after then where the timeline was altered.
But Fox doesn't give a shit about continuity. Fassbender and McAvoy are supposed to be like 50 in this new one. Havoc is supposed to be 40, but looks 12.
Really liked this one. Quicksilver is great. Best comedic relief character in a comic book movie I've seen. Feel the reviews are very harsh.
Loved everyone in the new cast. Wasn't a fan of the villain.
Cyclops, Fassbender, Quicksilver and Jean were the best parts of the movie. Best scenes were at the school. First half of the film was amazing, second was kinda meh.
I'd want them to stay in the 80s tbh. I'd love for a movie focussing on Cyclops, Jean, Storm etc being young. Bit of an 80s styled John Hughes film with X-Men with a villain that's not a world ending threat.
Also
- Spoiler:
Phoenix
Agreed about the school part. In a way, this was the most classic X-Men film. Very much like TAS but obviously younger.
Casting was really well done. Can see all these guys in many more films together. I think we will now carry on with the timeline from after Apocalypse. So probably more 90s and then early 00s. Heard Singer wants to go cosmic in the next film. Shi'ar empire hopefully gets introduced and then you know which saga.
There are tons of events they can playout. With a lot of X-men still to introduce. Reckon Rogue and Iceman will be next to join in along with Kitty.
That's why I hope X-Men stays with Fox. Or even if they do go with Marvel at any point, they should never be in the same universe as the Avengers. As much as I want to see Wolverine and Hulk fight.
Speaking of new casts though. I really don't know how they will retcon Wolverine. Jackman is done after the next one and we need someone else. It will be really hard to introduce Tom Hardy as Wolverine now
why didn't you like the villain? thought Isaac was incredible.

The point RG is that I don't get why some people keep bringing up that DC would have been in a far better place if Nolan was in charge has if Nolan ever was up for consideration to be in charge
The guy made his own batman trilogy and that's it. There's not even much else which suggests that he would do well working in a set universe with multiple other superheroes, not just one. Man's clearly best at creating his own semi original - original stories in his movies, keep him away from superhero movies

No one suggested he was in consideration. Nolan himself dislikes superhero genre. It's just a hypothesis. Replace Snyder with Nolan and what would the result be? specially considering their contrasting reputation. Nolan doesn't make bad films. Snyder's films always always polarise audience.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Nolan and Goyer created the Superman character in Man of Steel and Nolan was a main producer. Snyder came on after the script was done. That's why asking what would have happened with Nolan in full control is relevant.

Well. Green Arrow doesn't have any superpowers.
Also Nolan was the mastermind behind the Superman character in Man of Steel that everyone seemed to hate.
He's very cynical. Much like Snyder. Which is why he's best fit for characters like Batman.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Not sure if this has been posted, but these are the characters that will feature in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther movie:
So far only Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman have been cast in roles along with Chadwick Boseman.
Some of these characters are pretty awesome from what I remember of the comics. Despite its size relative to the rest of Marvel, Wakanda is a pretty rich landscape.
ULYSSES KLAW (Andy Serkis) – Murderer and betrayer of T'Chaka and personal archenemy of T'Challa. A powerhouse with near-absolute control of sound.
MONICA LYNNE – A singer who saved T'Challa from drowning after being bested by Killmonger. His longest love interest, whom he pledged eternal devotion towards.
EVERETT K. ROSS (Martin Freeman) – A United States State Department employee, whose job was to escort foreign diplomats on American soil. His world changed forever when he was assigned to T'Challa, the Black Panther, the ruler of Wakanda.
N'GASSI – Adviser to T'Challa, acting regent when he goes away on missions
OKOYE – One of the former Dora Milaje, a ceremonial betrothed/bodyguard of T'Challa. Okoye is of the J'Kuwali tribe and acted as a traditional, proper concomitant to the king, speaking only to the king and only in Hausa, an African dialect not widely spoken in Wakanda and thus affording the king and his wives a measure of privacy.
QUEEN DIVINE JUSTICE – The street-smart queen of the Jabari tribe of Wakanda raised in Chicago, and former Dora Milaje (ceremonial betrothed/bodyguard) of T'Challa. She originally went by the name Chanté Giovanni Brown.
W'KABI – T'Challa's competent second-in-command, completely loyal to his liege.
ZURI – A grumpy and gigantic elderly warrior. A close friend of the late T'Chaka, and one of T'Challa's most trusted advisers.
ACHEBE/REVERAND ACHEBE – A poor farmer somewhere in South Africa, Achebe sold his soul to the demon Mephisto. He is portrayed as a grinning, unpredictable, lunatic, warrior-mystic, regularly talking to his hand-puppet Daki with delusions that it's truly alive, and engineering complex plots of social unrest for profit or entertainment.
ERIK KILLMONGER – A powerful warrior and strategic genius in politics and economics.
MALICE – Wakandan Mutate with superhuman strength, speed, and agility. She is a former Dora Milaje (ceremonial betrothed/bodyguard) of T'Challa.
MAN-APE – Ruler of the Jabari Tribe a recognized micronation within Wakanda's borders. M'Baku was Wakanda's greatest warrior second only to the Black Panther. He plotted to usurp the throne with the help of the outlawed White Gorilla cult who were ancient rivals of the Black Panther cult, which basically made them heretics since Panther worship is the state religion. Founding member of the "Pan African Congress on the Treatment of Superhumans".
WHITE WOLF – T'Challa's adopted elder brother and the former leader of the Hatut Zeraze, the espionage elite police of Wakanda. Exiled by T'Challa, due to using torture and assassinations in his zeal to root out potential threats to national security.
So far only Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman have been cast in roles along with Chadwick Boseman.

Yup, that's what I also noticed when reading that one. I have no idea how they're going to spin that in MCU.

Tinfoil rumour hat on reddit. Hope it's true though. Rick Famuyiwa. Director of dope just followed all DC actors and directors and Channing Tatum + Mark Waid.
The rumour is he's directing Flash or Shazam and maybe Channing Tatum is Shazam.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Exclusive Scoop: Thor: Ragnarok & Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 details!
A few weeks ago we got a hefty dose of info on the third solo outing for Thor with THOR: RAGNAROK with a number of casting announcements and a few sparse details that tease the story. Now, you’ll recall that we broke the casting news of Mark Ruffalo back in October of last year, which has obviously been confirmed since then. The other new additions announced last week are Cate Blanchett as Hela, Karl Urban as Skurge, Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie (and yes, even Jaimie Alexander has assured us she’ll return as Sif).
Since our initial report of Ruffalo appearing as Hulk in the film we’ve heard rumors of how the story will play out and just how “Planet Hulk” the film will be. Well, here’s what we know: The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk’s appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him to be decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look.
And speaking of appearances, expect a major change in the look of The God of Thunder himself for this part of the film as he will be sporting a shaved head (but not completely bald) for at least a portion of the film. Also, expect a very different look for Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, who is traditionally a blonde-haired warrior type in the comics. For RAGNAROK she’ll be wearing war paint on her face, much like a Native American warrior, which should be an interesting take on this variation of the character.
In terms of story, there’s still much in the air, but the gist of Thor’s mission in the film is that he needs to find the ultimate weapon to stop Ragnarok and reset the universe. What is that weapon and how does he gets set on that path? Your guess is as good as ours, but the whole thing just sounds like a big ball of awesome already, so we’re on board with whatever direction they go. With the official cast details released last week and now more on the look and feel of the film, THOR: RAGNAROK is sounding more and more like a solid event film more so than another solo outing. Sound familiar? I’m pretty sure the solo Marvel films will only remain as such for the first outing with each new sequel being more of an ensemble piece going forward. Expect to see that across the board and we’ve already seen it trickling into the comic book films of DC and Fox’s X-Men films. It’s the new shit, so settle in...
Sounds really good so far. This will probably be the best Thor film

Not a tough competition. That's like something being the best Twilight movie. Thor: The Dark World is the worst comic book movie I've seen. Thor is fun, not much more.

Fan4stic is one of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory. There's absolutely no need to restrict it's shittiness by comparing it only to other movies based on comic books.

Batman and Robin for me.
I did see X-men: Apocalypse. Among the weaker of the superhero films personally. 6/10 is what I'll give it.
I did see X-men: Apocalypse. Among the weaker of the superhero films personally. 6/10 is what I'll give it.
- Spoiler:
- Wolverine's scenes were the best in the film for me. Absolutely lit through the whole compound .
Biggest criticism of the movie from others is that the main cast of X-Men (Mystique, Beast, etc) are not given the same amount of screen time as the new generation, but I actually think that's its strength.
Havok is clearly not dead so I fully expect him to return as a lieutenant for Mr. Sinister. Weak.
Enjoyed Fassbender's scenes naturally. Felt like I shouldn't have liked Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, but he wasn't too bad. Still not sinister enough for me though. Of the rest of his horsemen, Storm looked great and Angel did not. I was disappointed that they didn't really do more with him. At least I understood why Psylocke didn't join in the end. I will say that I was rather impressed by the powers of Apocalypse's first group of horsemen.
Sophie Turner grew into the part really well. It will take some doing to part her from Sansa Stark though. This was a solid step in that direction though. Quicksilver's scenes were fantastic once again.
All in all, it wasn't too bad an effort, but this was simply not as good as First Class or Days of Futures Past. Clearly the weakest of the series thus far.

Really hope Jennifer Lawrence doesn't get signed for more movies.
I want a movie that focuses on Magneto, Xavier and the new cast + Quicksilver. Recast Mystique is necessary. No need to pay Jennifer Lawrence $30m to sleep through a role.
