That doesn't make any sense

- Spoiler:
- Can he? He has never done that. Strange has to visualize as many details as possible of the places he is trying to portal to for it to work.
Thanos survives in space as well. That's no way of killing him and none of the guys on Titan can use the gauntlet. Its possible it just backfired in the end.
You are going waaaaaaay out of your way to try take apart a movie in a section where they straight up tell you that Strange is doing the only thing that will possibly result in a win for them. They establish a completely reasonable scenario within the movie for it to be true.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
- Spoiler:
- I'm not going out of my way, this was just my honest reaction when I watched it. I don't think it's reasonable at all actually for "the only way" to be to give up when on the brink of victory. Whether or not they would've won had Quill not been a moron, you have to admit the movie deliberately plays up their chances up until that point and makes it seem like that's what undoes them.
If what you're saying is true (that Thanos would have won even without Quill) then they should've made Thanos beat the Avengers on his own and the movie would have been 10x better. But the way they did it makes it seem like its Quill's fault, which is stupid because Strange has the power to undo what Quill did.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
- Spoiler:
- You keep thinking that Strange wants to undo what Quill did. They movie does it for suspense because Strange doesn't reveal the future. It makes it seems that Quill screwed up until Strange says "we are in the endgame now". That's the plan.
That Thanos would win there's little doubt. The movie even tells you but are choosing not to accept that. Then see it based on feats. Thanos punched out Hulk and Thor. Iron Man throws everything he has and all he gets is a drop of blood. Strange uses every trick and gets wrecked.
Thor says it too way earlier in the movie. They need a "Thanos killing weapon" to have a shot.
Most Likely Strange did what he did to ensure that the right people were alive for when Captain Marvel comes, Thor has stormbreaker, and Hulk returns.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
- Spoiler:
- Fantastic. I thought the volume of jokes was smaller than previous Avenger movies, but these were higher quality.
Thanos is the 2nd MCU villain (after Killmonger) to be portrayed the way all villains should be portrayed: With a bit of tragic poignancy. Josh Brolin was amazing in this role and has such a presence. I'm honestly not all that hyped for Deadpool 2, but I'm turning in specifically for him based off of this performance.
As for how the movie ended, clearly a setup for Captain Marvel to lead the remaining Avengers against him. I also think we'll see Adam Warlock make his appearance as well as he's a pivotal part of the original Infinity storyline. Black Panther is too big a character to leave dead, as is Holland's Spiderman. Some have to stay dead though and I think that's going to be the majority of the Guardians. I'm almost certain Thano' snap affected Hawkeye's family, which will force him to return to the Avengers. Hadn't planned on seeing Ant Man and the Wasp, but now I may just to see how the movie deals with this. More importantly, I want to see how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the Netflix shows deal with this. This is too big of an event to only casually allude to.
I was a bit disappointed now to see Mistress Death make an appearance, although her reasoning for Thanos' quest for the infinity stones is there at least. Would love to see her make an appearance as that was a great subplot to the original story. Maybe Mephisto can appear as well now that Loki is dead.
One line in this movie really bothers me though.....at the beginning when Thanos called Heimdall sending Hulk to earth "a mistake".....trying to understand why that was a mistake. Such an odd line.

Mclewis
- Spoiler:
I have a theory regarding mistress death.
When eventually they turn back time(most likely Tony using the gauntlet) and ask Thor to aim for Thanos' head. End credits might reveal Mistress death to resurrect Thano as she did in the comics. Because Thanos should not be permanently dead as he needs to be involved in more cosmic storylines in the future.
Also that Hulk line by Thanos was just him saying it was a mistake to not let him kill Hulk as he was about to. Nothing more to it i think
What I found strange was Heimdall not opening the gate for Thor and Loki instead

In regards to that
- Spoiler:
- Tony is gonna die sacrificing himself to restore it. Would be a great way to go. I'm 100% he's dying.
Hard to see others dying for sure.

- Spoiler:
- Can Tony use the gauntlet though? Don't humans just get pulverized in the mcu if they touch a stone let alone 6? Star-Lord barely made it with 5 other people and he is half celestial.
I guess Thor is the more appropriate one to use it and someone sacrifices himself to the soul stone.

- Spoiler:
- Thinking about it again I think it's going to be Cap maybe. Thanos looks at him kind of shocked when he was able to stop his punch? Kind of like Thor looked when he moved the hammer in Age of Ultron.
Cap saving everyone could happen and would be a great setup because of those two looks from Thor and Thanos.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
Hey everyone. The conversation in the previous pages you guys helped clear my doubt as well. So thanks.
Anyway I enjoyed the movie overall. They did a good job in fitting everyone and giving them space.
So, yea a 7/10.
- Spoiler:
So, I have one more doubt to clear from you guys.
How much do the Avengers (Cap and others fighting the battle on earth) know about the infinity stones and their powers? Arent they  aware that the Time Stone can reset time? And had they known that, wouldnt they be putting their time and energy in devising a different plan? Instead of going on the defensive and trying to keep the stone out of the Thanos's reach? They had the likes of Banner with them on earth and yet those bunch coulnt figure out Thanos could simply undo them destroying the mind stone?
To the counter argument that there is no other plan for the ones on earth and unlike the ones in space, they didnt have anyone in their team who knew what they were up against. Yea may be.
But still, that particular path they took imo was dumb. They could have easily anticipated the extent of stuff Thanos could pull even without the full 6 gems
Anyway I enjoyed the movie overall. They did a good job in fitting everyone and giving them space.
So, yea a 7/10.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
- Spoiler:
- Most of the avengers didn't know anything about the infinity stones outside of the mind stone (vision) and the space stone (although most just knew it as the tesseract for the most part).
None of the earth avengers knew anything about the time stone in particular. Only Banner knew a little bit from the very general talk of 6 stones to control the universe that Strange gives.
Even including the space avengers they still didn't know the extent of the power of the time stone. Only Strange does. None of them know how the stones work or what they are specifically capable of. They only come into the general vicinity of two of them once in a while and crazy things happen.

- Spoiler:
- I'd say Thor, Gamora, Nebula and Strange are the knowledgeable ones about the stones and Thanos. Even those had only seen one or two stones max, except for Thor who iirc has seen 3 (Mind, Space, Reality) since his appearances are usually connected to them.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
- Spoiler:
- Yeah, I really find the criticism by @Cruijff a bit weird. Doctor Strange saw all possible outcomes, told Tony he would not hesitate to sacrifice him for the Time Stone, and obviously gave it up because it is the one in fourteen million outcomes The Avengers win. I also noticed EVERYONE except Strange was attempting to calm down Star Lord. The thing is Thanos needs the Gauntlet because he views it as a mercy. Simply snapping half the universe out of existence is more merciful than invading planets and killing half its population like he did with Gamora's species and Asgard. He does not need the full powered Gauntlet to beat Avengers...I mean he retired Hulk without using any of the stones
But man...like I said exact opposite of what I expected. Everyone I didn't expect to died "died" I know they will be back, especially Spiderman, Strange and Black Panther, but it still shocked me. I was 100% sure Stark was gonna die when he got stabbed and then Strange gave away the Time Stone which just WTFed me even more until he said this was the only way.
Speaking of Strange, holy shit dude was the MVP of the movie if it wasn't for Thor. Man pulling out portals and mirror dimensions but sadly gets noped by Thanos Thor tho, I went nuts when he landed on Wakanda with Rocket and Groot. Wish they played Immigrant Song, had it playing in my head His whole arc was amazing, Taika and the Russos did him justice. He should be OP like that and they made him the funniest and most tortured Avenger too.
Really interested on the plot for Avengers 4. Tony and Nebula probably use the Guardians ship to go back to Earth. Everyone pre-snap is permanently dead I'm sure, which isn't much...Loki, Gamora and Vision. Collector too if we are counting minor characters. Loki death was obvious but still emotional especially when you notice he was actually addressing Thor "Son of Odin, King of Asgard, I pledge my undying fidelity to you", also that "You will never be a God" was the perfect thing to say to Thanos. Was nice Kenneth Brannagh voiced the distress call, bought the Thor series full circle in a way.
Gamora tho.. thats one death I did not predict. I didn't think any of the Guardians would die tbh, I wonder if they did it because she will be very busy filming the Avatar sequels? Opens up Star Lord to romance Mantis like in the comics or Shadowcat now that Marvel has Fox I really loved the Gamora/Thanos scenes, really humanized him. Though I wonder why he loves her so much yet does not give a shit or outright hates Nebula? Red Skull showing up was a shocker, I thought it was Death when I saw the hood+cape.
Vision is done, but I have been seeing lot of speculation that Shuri did manage to salvage something and he will come back as White Vision. Think it will be a Groot situation with him if he does come back, it won't be the Vision we know but a new one with no memories of his old self.
Captain America and his Secret Avengers really didn't get much screentime, obviously some sacrifices had to be made but I'm surprised it was Cap. Winter Soldier had like what 4 lines the whole movie? Got made up for that in the scene where he dual wielded a machine gun and Rocket Racoon tho
Also agree on Mclewis, humor was on point, fit the film and was not off putting at all like it was in Age Of Ultron and GOTG 2. Russos mastered the balance of humor and seriousness, they did it in Civil War too.
I legit could not hear some lines because my theater
laughed so hard at some of them. There are so many quotable ones
"Get lost Squidward"
"Why is Gamoa"
"How long were you standing there? One hour"
"Yes...that is what happens when you get killed...you die" Perfect delivery also enhanced that Dinklage was using his Tyrion accent.
But between this and GOTG 2, Drax seems to be just comic relief. Man needs some badass moments. He needs to go 1v1 and have a conversation with Thanos at one point.
Avengers 4, I have a feeling Ant Man and his knowledge about the Quantum Realm will play a big role. Hawkeye will have his family disappear and return as Ronin. Captain Marvel obviously too. Rocket will probably turn into an alcoholic or something. Nebula will be important too, she actually steals the Gauntlet from Thanos and undoes the snap in the comic, but I doubt they'll do that here. Will probably be Tony. Film will mostly be focused on OG Avengers as type of a final hurrah. Steve Rogers will 100% die leaving Falcon to take up the mantle of Captain America because it looks like Bucky is White Wolf, Tony is 50/50 I think he's likely to marry Pepper and retire OR die and we learn Pepper is actually pregnant. Hulk will probably be unleashed when he sees Black Widow in grave danger, still annoyed they have not scrapped that romance.
I wish I had the motivation to write as much for my thesis (:

I don't think vision is gone because they had that scene where Shuri managed to get all of his files before they got attacked. She or IM will restore vision I think. Rest are dead but unsure about Gamora.

Hulk being afraid was quite funny. I know why Marvel did that (you explained it) but it was still funny. Marvel really hates him.
