I've made it clear that I'm not the biggest fan of LVG as a manager, this decision will push me over the edge with regards to him.

I'm guessing, like Busby, that this just a motivational ploy to get Darmian playing above his limits in pre season and the new season.

But what's wrong with Valencia? He's like a master of the right back position. I like him. He doesn't make mistakes, very good in attack, does a lot of support runs. Darmian will be played in rotation with Valencia and we will have two great RBs.

Didn't see the game. Never saw the highlights. But good to find out this later than never.

Anyway, I don't believe this means much. If we take things like this, even Maldini and Cannavaro had bad games. I've seen Valencia playing on the RB position and he did it very well. Nothing to complain about. Sure, there is place for improvement. Now with a new competitor for the RB position, maybe he will rise again. Hope Darmian will have equal chances with Antonio to prove himself and grow. From what I've seen, Darmian is a more creative guy while Valencia is too linear.

We could use a future best RB in the world. I hope at least Darmian has the potential.

How can you compare this scrub with the likes of Maldini man.

Valencia is a decent option to have. But playing him in place of an Italian international like Darmian is a stuff of utter travesty.
Valencia most of the time passes backwards and plays safe and his crossing is piss poor.
His defending has improved last season, but still he is prone to major brain farts that can be decisive. Like his FA cup assist last season for welbeck that led to our KO from the competition.
His stats are way misleading as he 9 times out of 10 chooses the safe route and wont take chances. Thats why those 90 % pass completion and shit.
No way a starting full back for a club of a United's stature the guy is.

The only justification one can give for valencia starting over darmian is the latter's inexperience and newness to the league added with factors such as his language troubles and all.
So first month or so its okay I guess, as it wont be a nice idea to throw darmian right into the mix. Its better he is gradually eased into the team and the league.
After that it shouldnt even be a question. Valencia SHOULD only be our back up full back and nothing more.

Apart from the fact that he's built like a bodybuilder, he's an absolute fraud at RB.

lol. van Gaal must be doing this as a ploy. Valencia gets dragged out of position too many times.

Even if he wish that, Darmian is too good a player to remain second choice behind a scrub like valencia. If it was any other RB then perhaps, but cos its valencia we are somewhat confident.

Will Rafael stay at the club? If no, we should buy another RB. We will need two RBs to rotate if we want to fight in all competitions and win trophies.

Considering that you people say that Valencia is a shitty RB, I suppose you know that we need someone to be Darmian's reserve.

Rafael's a certified goner, unfortunately.

Highly doubt we'll get another RB in now. Darmian and Valencia should do (even though I dislike Val as a RB).
