Because I think Smalling looked great beginning of this year and should be made a part of the Utd spine.

He started of very badly like most of our team but got better once the team improved. Epl players aren't used to bringing the ball out. He was very good in 2015 for us although I think he needs to work on his strength/balance as he still gets outmuscled too easily.

I agree he should stay on as part of our spine.

Ramos been relying on his physical tools to get around his lack of true defensive awareness for a decade. And now he is 29 and it wont be long till it begins to leave him.

He would do fine for Utd, no doubt, but not for very long and its not like your signing Thiago Silva or something, this isnt some classy, smart, calm and composed defender who you know when he plays will rarely make errors..this dude makes fundemental defensive errors game in and game out. I dont care if he is "world class" by whatever standards we want to refer to today, but I can see with my own eyes what he is and isnt and I think so can you.

More important though, look at the cost and how they are getting raped. Dont give me masterstroke lol

If not, then its straight cash for De Gea and keep it moving. Go sign one of the many defenders out there, instead of some guy about to start the decline any day now and not even that good to begin with...dont care what he has won or hasnt.

He is more than a defender, he is a great player, all around, great footballer. Probably top 10 if we look closely. Sure there are better pure defenders, but there arent any of them who are as good as players overall. His value transcends just tackling and being well positioned, he is a leader that will help united get together and go back to being champions

But anyway, he could have played his worst games ever and it doesnt change what he has been as a player, a fantastic defender.
