Ih he had said that months earlier there would be less drama. Let's not forget that after his declaration, Benteke was sold and going to City is a step forward ( if you play ) . Money, CL , etc...
DeAndre Jordan didn't publicly say he's a loyal person and loves the Clippers/Mavs though lol. He just had a change of heart, this is a lot worse IMO. Delph rejected City and said he's proud to captain Villa, loyal and loves the club and then a week later said nah *bleep* that i'm going LOL kthxbai.
The two situations are not comparable.
My point exactly. Let's say he reject city the first time , then he saw Benteke being sold . He thought about it again as Aston villa is always in the relegation battle. Euro is coming , he has the opportunity to play for City ... hard to no.
He talked too early , that's all.

As it stands, he might be able to play some games nonetheless.

It's how he handled it, put yourself in the position of a Villa fan... let's say for example let's say City pursued Sterling after you nearly won the league and Sterling said he's staying and then a week later he's at City.
You'd arguably hate him a lot more than you do now, it's just a massive dick move.

Comparing Delph to Rodwell, Sinclair & Johnson
Delph has become an England regular & his competition is Fernando & an aging Fernandinho. He'll get games at City just as former Villa players like Milner & Barry did.
Even if(when) he fails he'll be good enough for a team Everton, Spurs or whatever surprise team emerges.

Gil gtfo, the only reason you even rate Delph is because of that back heel goal he scored against Chelsea after dribbling through I'm-the-best Dm-Matic like he was a traffic cone

I don't rate him that highly but he has a great engine & underrated dribbling ability.

The truly laughable thing is two of those players have a Premier League winners medal.
Crazy.

So... he's a poor man's Milner, then?
Delph is a quota player at City. Period.
Mind you, I actually rate Delph and hoped he would stay at Villa. However, at Villa he was THE central figure for the club: a very good player, with a strong work-rate and more-than-adequate skill. Unfortunately, I think he's simply too much of a prototypical English CM to break into City's team. While he's good in many areas, he's simply not good enough in any one of them to displace anyone.
Ask yourself this:
- Is he a better attacker than Silva, Nasri, or Jesus Navas*? No. He won't play at RW/LW or CAM.
- Is he a better defender than Fenando and Fernandinho? No. He won't play as the DM.
- Is he better as an all-around CM than Yaya Toure? No. He doesn't play at CM.
Who exactly is he supposed to displace, then?
*You could make the case that he is a better all-around player than NAvas, but Navas' speed gives him the edge when played on the wing.

Honestly think Delph is a better option for City than Fernando.

Well that's because Fernando really isn't that good.
You take away Aguero and Silva from this City team and They are so painfully meh. Kind of like Liverpool.

Not at all really. Take away Silva and Aguero and they are still better than Liverpool.

No they are not. I bet you, you take away Aguero and Silva, this current Liverpool team finishes above them.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
Nah.
This current Liverpool doesn't even have structure. Doesn't even have an established first 11 AND it has new players that you guys ASSUME will just fit in with ease, no adjustment period whatsover.
City will basically have the same team (minus Aguero and Silva).
I trust them more than a team that fell apart completely once one player left and I'm not just talking about up front, defence was horrible.

Also, I really have more faith in Pellegrini's abilities as a manager than Rodgers.

Rodgers' tactical abilities for me have never been the question, it was always his inability to actually build a team and his arrogance. He's not that inferior to Pelle tactically. I would love to see 30 year old average age City over 38 games without Aguero and Silva. They would finish below Spurs Their squad is soooooo overrated. 32 year old grandpa Yaya I would be a bit unsure if Yaya was in his prime years but

Delph is underrated here, he's going to be playing games, not just making up the home-grown quota.
He's also a massive dick for saying he's staying at Villa only to join City a week later.

From my brief experience of Delph in Fifa 11, he's a great pacy midfielder thats quite good at going forward as well as going back, got him to 82 in a season i believe

Delph is a good buy for city for 8 mil. Anyone who is saying otherwise doesnt know what they are saying. He is better than most of their dross. If city wont buy any more CMs this season, then he will definitely get a lot of games.
Watch him bench toure soon

John Stones has Rio Ferdinand-esque potential. Really hope he doesn't move to Chelsea but he is destined for them sadly.

if he goes to Chelsea he will go from being rio esque to being a john terry esque player before Christmas. as you say what a shame that would be.RealGunner wrote:John Stones has Rio Ferdinand-esque potential. Really hope he doesn't move to Chelsea but he is destined for them sadly.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
But what's wrong with being John Terry'esque? (question from a MU fan) Every man has his ups&downs in life. Despite his penalty miss against MU in '08 and other little and less significant mistakes, he had a fantastic career until now.
Frustration, nerves, anger cand cause a lot of behavioural problems, but as long as his behaviour on and off the pitch didn't affect his performances too much, there is nothing wrong.
