Technically yes, you can get gear and weapons out of it at the end.
I stopped trying though, I'm so bad at these type of challenges.

It's definitely worth it. There are 5 different people you can do trials for, and every time you get the highest score on all 3 trials for one of them, you'll be able to collect a weapon from the special weapons vendor in Meridian. Those weapons are the best in the game, if I'm not mistaken. I've already gotten the highest score on 6 trials, so far

I'm going to do it when I finish the story lol, I just cba.
If the weapons are worth it I'll do it properly in another playthrough as I feel I'm going to play it again at some point after Mass Effect.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
did my third cauldron, the first two were epic dungeons, this one was like they were out of time, literally just straight to the boss room. That said, considering the battle inside it was understandable. TFW I set up about 30 traps on the floor before the fight and it took about 1/10th of the machines HP. I've been playing wrong though, not targeting every weak spot lol. Ruined it doing that. Usually I just target the obvious spots.
I can override Stormbirds now although I can't see that being easy at all

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I was disappointed in the third Cauldron, hoping the 4th one makes up for it.
As for Power Cells I didn't get one until the "Grave Hoard" quest and that's apparently the fourth one lmao.
Went back and got the other 3 using a walkthrough so I have one to go.

I'm guessing you need to override a creature to fight the Stormbird while you sneak up behind it. Power cells are found in underground ruins. Some of them are really well hidden.

Some of them are but you can go back to the area to get them, I did that for one.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Same.
Can see there being a patch to resources like Witcher 3 had, mainly because if you have 700 blaze it takes up 7 slots of 100 each instead one slot like it should.
I'm constantly selling stuff I don't need atm wherever I can because 100 isn't enough with how resources is currently designed.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
No because I haven't unlocked the last tall neck yet.
I can visit everywhere and I have but white mist covers the map if you don't climb the tall neck.

Yeah, that wouldn't have been such a problem if the game was more clear about which objects to keep, and which ones are disposable. It was mentioned in a video review I watched, as well. I've kept a lot of items in my inventory for some time, because I don't want to sell them and later on realize that I have to farm for them again. I bet they'll add some sort of storage alternative in a later patch, but it should've been there from the start. Also, how many of each item you can stack doesn't make much sense. There are flowers that are capped at like, 10-20 stacks, and then there are metal objects that can be stacked up to 100

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I've visited 80% of the world, need to do the final longneck, I haven't progressed the main story much, but I've visited tons of places where I know the story is going to take me since they were blocked off. Doing all the sidequests and activities before progressing.
The Map isn't massive but it feels a really good size and it's densely packed
Surprised by the side quests too, not too many fetch quests and they've been interesting enough, definitely not FFXV tier

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I think the majority of the side quests I've completed up until this point have been decent. They're definitely an upgrade from fetch quests, but many of them are quite bland and monotone. I think I just need to stop comparing games to Witcher 3. It just seems kind of unfair to the other games and developers
I haven't completed all of the side quests, but so far, I prefer Yakuza 0's side quests over that of Horizon's. It's definitely a good thing that Guerilla have taken inspiration from The Witcher 3, though I'm pretty far into the game already and it still feels more like Far Cry than anything else

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Yeah sidequests have been a lot better than I imagined, most are interested with fun gameplay, depth and good stories.
Only fetch stuff is stuff I did myself so I could get better gear.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
It's basically a mash up of Ass Creed, Far Cry, Monster Hunter and The Witcher IMO. But the combination makes it stand out. Gameplay is probably better than all of those though, everything feels so satisfying. Really well made game. Shocked the Studio got an open world game this good on their first attempt.

Yeah, I think it's better than most of those games, but it shares both the positives and the negatives of Far Cry 4. In my opinion, at least.

I also really like the open world, like I said, it's not massive but it's pretty big and densely packed, plus it's really a beautiful game. Varied locations, etc. Up there in terms of my favorite open worlds tbh.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Really like how smooth the gameplay is.
Actually not surprised the game is well made because Guerrilla Games is a reputable studio. Killzone games were extremely well made but didn't gain as much popularity because the games came around peak CoD/battlefield/resistance era. Even shadowfall.
World is really really well designed in Horizon

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I'm not seeing any comparisons to Far Cry except the crafting and skill tree.
Not saying you are like this Thimmy but most people who say that I feel like are desperate for comparison and looking at it from a very narrow point of view.
The quests, characters, story, world building and enemy design far out does those games anyway.
