Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Coquelin could not have done better for us, even if it was only for 6-7 months but, as Jay said, the real question isn't whether Coquelin will win you a title but whether he'll win you one alone.
What sounds better; to call upon Kondogbia when Coquelin is injured or needs to be benched or to ask Flamini to rip his sleeves off and get on the pitch?
Would like to have quality competition at every position. GK and DM are the most wanting positions in that aspect. Even better if we sign a player capable of playing in multiple positions to create as much fluidity in the squad as possible. The more options, the more versatile we are, the more of a threat we become against stubborn defenses.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If we HAD to sell one of Szczesny or Ospina, it would be the latter for me.
He's done fairly well for us but if we do sign Petr Cech then it'll most likely force one of the two out and Szczesny is the more purely talented of the two. His biggest flaw, his erratic tendencies and rashness, are things that age and maturity can help and playing understudy to Cech (again, IF) would help. I feel like Ospina is closer to his ceiling which is ironic because he's short.
Also in his favor, the fact that he's a homegrown player and is intent on being a long-termer here.
Plus, I'm not a fan of small keepers in England so.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Last night was a good demonstration of what Ospina is all about. Pulls of a great close range save against Neymar in the first, then has a total brain fart and misses a clearance in the second half that Brazil should have scored from. Seems to be erratic on a game-by-game basis.
Szczesny, at least, can put together good runs of form; he just follows them up with two or three terrible games that result in him getting dropped.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Szczesny needs to stop acting like an idiot though, he's been given countless chances by Arsene Wenger which he wouldn't have under other managers.
Bring in Cech, don't care who is the nr 2 as Ospina/Szczesny are around the same level so it won't make much of a difference one way or another.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ospina is good example of how u not buying player after 1 fine world cup performance, god damn that Almunia vibe keep coming back haunting us all.
Question though, everyone locked in Cech, in case it doesnt work out ( not so small possibility) what're other options?
Couldnt think of anyone, might have to stick with what we have.

The other options are Lloris and Casillas I guess, other GK's shouldn't even be considered..

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I think if we can't get an established quality keeper like Cech or Lloris we should go for a young keeper - look at the likes of Bernd Leno or Sergio Rico. It's that or take a chance on someone like Begovic.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Oblak was my option after Cech
but should have known he has such release clause(40M euros)
Leno himself would cost a lot too!

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Out of three, Cech is still the easiest. Oh well I hope it's not another transfer season long saga and Chelsea's reasonable about it.
Leno seems interest Pool, dont know much about Rico but another good one I like is Diego Alves. Begovic hype seems die down but that's most probably sidegrade

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Don't know about Rico but have no time/money to waste on average players like Begovic/Leno who are not any better than our current options.
If we can't get Cech/Lloris then I'd give Ospina/Szczesny one more chance and spend the GK money on a top class striker instead. We might just get away with it if we have top class players in the rest of the team but we will not get away with it if we don't have either.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal goalkeeper coach Tony Roberts to join Swansea as Cech will bring long term coach Christophe Lollichon if he joins Arsenal.
If Cech is to join Arsenal he may want to bring coach Christophe Lollichon who he has close bond and working relationship with.
Roberts is highly regarded & worked closely with Fabianski before making the switch from Arsenal to Swansea who he's set to follow.[Mirror]

Unfortunately Matt Law ("Arsenal want Milner to play right back") and John Cross aren't reliable. If there's something going on, Ornstein will definitely report it. Until then, best not get our hopes up.

Or, even worse, inb4 the BBC get duped by a phony Ornstein account and have us thinking it's done.

I am quite confident on Cech.
We need to start looking at Strikers and DMs now tbh.

Know there are mixed opinions on him but Gianluca Di Marzio believes Petr Cech is on the verge of joining Arsenal for £7m (??) in the coming days.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It's happening. Cech likes it in London and doesn't want to move. José can throw a tantrum all he likes.
Great signing for you. Really great. I'd be very excited for next season.

Fellow Sky Italia reporter Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are 'waiting for the official answer' to their £7m bid.

Sounds like he's being very vague there, says " can be closed " and " who knows the final and decisive ".
Either that or it's a shitty translation.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It seems we have made a bid but that doesn't mean Chelsea will accept it. Hope Di Farzio has becone Di GOATzio again and he's right about a deal likely to be agreed in the coming days.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
£7mil seems a bit on the low side, all things considered. I suspect a final fee would be closer to twice that amount.

It definitely sounds like that to me, i doubt two Sky Italia reporters would have different information. Sounds like Romano's info is the same but it's been reported more clearly.
