No R9? But Henry..seems legit.. No Gunner Biased?
If you have seen R9 and Dinho how is Messi head and shoulder above them?

RG disappointed me, I was hoping he would say Wilshere
But it is Messi for me as well, by quite a distance.

cmon, messi vs Madrid 2011 wasn't THAT great of a performance
Messi for me, but then again i didnt watch R9 and prime dinho. As I said many times, i dont know if he is the best of all time but he is definitely on the football olympus big 3 along with Pele and Maradona

If the question is 'at his absolute best' I have to say Ronaldinho.
Such an ingenius, entertaining player.

Messi and R9 at their best are both unstoppable tbh, just in different ways. R9 was a freak of nature while Messi is just a genius who can never have a shot all game but still be the best player on the pitch.
It's a different type of dominance but the end justifies the means.

Ronaldo Lima in his prime is still unrivalled for me. It was total excitement. I remember having goose bumps when he ball was at his feet or approaching him. The guy could own any player when it came to technique, skill, in short he remains the most exciting and the most talented player I've ever seen in my life..
Second on my list is messi for obvious reasons and third is ronaldinho.

I had same feelings when i was kid.. But When I saw Ronaldinho i had to change my Mind..I Mean What Ronaldo did to defender Ronaldinho did the same but lees explosive , way more technical and more entertaining too.
The problem with Ronaldo is he was not as complete as messi and dinho. For example if ronaldinho and messi doesn't score they will put outrageous pass to their team mate with great vision, which Ronaldo lacked.

Re: Who is the best Player you have ever seen in his absolute best?
2 questions to you op.
1. What are you trying to get out of this thread?
2. Can you define the metric you use for 'best' player. It's a generic term that has no meaning in the context of a sport that is composed of 11 players in one team.

Agree with this. A definition of best would be nice as it seems most a differing on what it is.

Re: Who is the best Player you have ever seen in his absolute best?
1. Opinion from fellow football fans who do they think the best player[offensive player as i gave example] they have seen at their absolute best.jibers wrote:2 questions to you op.

2.Obviously it doesn't, yet Most pundits Fans even former players Media even i think you too talk about best player ever etc..[mostly offensive player who for obvious reason influence a football match by skills and ability to win the game], so sir it is no crime here to ask the question.
I mean if you want absolute best here is the criteria
A Player with highest technical skills yet more entertaining way and has great fear factor, who can win a match with individual Magic(skills).
Or you can use best criteria you can think of to describe it. its up to you. If you think there is no best you have seen ok good ,fair enough.

Re: Who is the best Player you have ever seen in his absolute best?
At his peak Dinho was just magical, much more entertaining than Messi who i consider top 3 of all time (if not the best). At his peak R9 was god's gift to humanity but he probably though we dont deserve it and downgraded him into a human. At his peak Adriano was the best striker ive ever seen but it only lasted a year or so. Nedved, Zidan, Riquilme, and Kaka all had amazing peaks as well. I also remember watching Baggio in Brescia and wished i discovered football a few years earlier. Berkamp at arsenal was beautiful beyond discription.
Top 3 peaks: Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Messi
Top 3 careers: Messi...........everyone else

In that case for me Maradona, R9 and Messi.

well said...
also it points to another flaw in the definition. many players had been fantastic at their peak but their peak very short lived. so the question is, do you really want to compare the ability of a player in peak regardless of how long that ability lasted...
