The Run In

So we're out of CL and FAC which leaves 11 EPL games in this season.
With 5 points separating us from City and a game in hand, it is our title to lose.
As long as we win the game in hand, we'll be 8 points clear.
That effectively means we have to get 25 points from our last 11 games, assuming City win all their games. However, they have to play some difficult games, such as Utd and Spurs away and Soton at home. I very much doubt City will score max points from their last 10 games, but 25 wouldn't be out of the question.
In this kind of situation, 23 points from our last 11 games will suffice, which is easily possible if we take maximum points from the easier games.
Lets go win this.

"Easier games" is a canard. Our last 4 games of last season were Sunderland at home, Liverpool away, Norwich at home, and Cardiff away — which, if all won, would have seen us finish as champions....and we won 2 of them. There are no easy games in this league and while City's fixtures yet to come against the bigger sides will be a challenge, and possibly more of one on paper than ours, it's sometimes just as hard playing the lower-mid-table sides this time of year.

Ultimately, we'll walk the title if we match City's results. But the quicker we get to 83 points (20 points away), the better off we'll be. If we win the next 7 games, we'd only need 3 points or so from our last 4 games to get the title.

If winning the league title doesn't motivate our players, nothing will.
Also I don't think we will win 7 in a row, but we should be aiming for 83-85 points to win the title.

I wont be confident in any of these games. Can see us dropping points anywhere atm. The Spurs game was the real turning point this year. Mourinho change the shape of the team completely after that game and with Costa and Cesc playing like plebs these days, it exactly like last year with Hazard being our only attacking channel.

We were going downhill before that. Sunderland game started it.

We do have more time between games than we are use to, Ade. That will surely help us feel more rested.
I think Jose just needs to make sure our lads are motivated. I'd even consider dropping Costa for a game, since he is struggling somewhat at present.

Had Mourinho not been ostracising Remy the entire season he could well have been slotted nicely into the side right now in place of the currently-useless Costa.
As for your first paragraph, we spend the sorts of money we do to be able to compete on multiple fronts effectively. Shouldn't need one game a week to be playing well.

Arsenal are looking like more of a threat than City, at present. Should City lose any of their next few games and Arsenal will be ahead.
But since we are yet to face Arsenal, that match could well be one to more or less secure the title.
As for City, they play Utd next week at OT. Should that lose there, we could extend our lead at the top.

We are on track to collect the 23 points, if not more.
Since this required 2.1 points per game, and since then we've collected 2.33 points per game.
