Re: sterling contract
El Cujo wrote:Sterling had plenty of opportunity to win trophies this season and came up flat. He wants to win trophies, but he doesn't want to work for them. He wants to go to a team that will win a trophy for him rather than actually having to be a key player in making those trophies happen. A player like that will never reach his full potential, and I'm not bothered one bit that he wants to leave.
I also fully believe a healthy Lallana is a better player right now, after watching both of them this season, so if he can work on his fitness I don't see a downgrade even if we don't replace him since Origi, Markovic and Ibe will also be available.
What are you on about?
HE'S 20
AND HE'S ALREADY A KEY PLAYER FOR US
"Doesn't want to work for them" He was the one that carried us in the second half when SAS were burning out, and you claimed him as the best young player in the world. But yeah, silly old lazy unproductive Sterling.
He's supposed to be developing at his own rate and yet we're putting all the weight onto Sterling and Coutinho's shoulders ffs. They're f****** kids and we're expecting them to carry us ffs.
So yes. Good luck to him when he leaves. Because he WILL win silverware elsewhere. And Liverpool fans will just complain and moan how we're just unfortunate and blah blah blah despite the fact that we're our own enemy.
Oh, and Lallana in his peak. And he's still inferior. Nice comparison though.
mr-r34 wrote:Honeslty whats he got besides pace, when SAS isn't there to make space for him to exploit his got nothing. He can't soot, and has shown no signs of improving, his got no footwork and dribbling and has shown no signs of improving, kick and try to beat the man can only work in certain situations.
Great brides maid when the Brides are in full swing but nothing more, and in my book he ain't WC for shit if he can't be a main man somewhere.
Ibe might not be at his level now, which from this year is arguably not that much higher than Ibe, but Ibe has shown glimpses of what he can actually do, which if nurtured properly, he can reach higher ceilings than Sterling.
Are you serious?
I'll be the first one to say he exploited the space from SAS, it doesn't mean he looked good because of them.
Coutinho can barely shoot too. They're both young. The older and mature (therefore more experience) they get the more of a killer instinct they'd get.
"No signs of improving"? I've already stated why he's had a poor season in another thread. So I really can't be bothered re-writing everything again. But I have a question for you, which player has "improved" this season then? The whole team has stagnated. The whole team has played shit this season. The whole team hasn't reached the same level they did last season. Are you going to do an El Cujo and blame this whole season on the players, too?
And Sterling hasn't showed glimpses?
Like I said. Ibe will be better towards the start because he's more physical built. Sterling is the smarter player. They compliment each other and we should be looking to progress both of them because they're both special talents. There's no "X will be better". They have the same potential. I believe Raheem will be better though as I feel he's more hungry / has more of that winning mentality about him. He was Suarez' apprentice for almost 2 years.
And it's not Raheem's fault the whole team has no structure going forward and therefore has to try and do it all on his own. Sterling is pretty much a scapegoat for our season.

Re: sterling contract
If you can say BR is a fraud because SAS carried him then so is sterling to an extent. no matter how burnt out SAS was they always still had the whole defense on them, and credit to sterling then, he did wonders in the second half and made up for the marking and tiredness of SAS.
The winning mentality/ more hungry , are you talking about sterling hahahaha.Let me show you the difference, suarez had what your saying, look at how he performs when he wanted out, sterling, his just a whinny lil bitch, hungry and determined to win, not even close.
Your right Cou can barley shoot and his barley shown glimpses of improvement in his shooting besides 2 or 3 bombs this season, but his more than a 1-dimensional kick and chase type player like sterling currently is. Sterling can't beat a man with skill, he can't cross a ball and he can't shoot for shit. What can he do besides run fast and find space only when the whole defense is on SAS.
Sterling definitely is no scapegoat, who's blaming him for us coming 5th and getting knocked out of cups? After the FA cup we all blamed Rodgers and are blaming him for the poor start that cost us PL points and CL progress. Were blaming him for his shitty transfers as well.
You speak of sterling like he'll become a main man at a club one day, he'll never be the main man at a club always a good accessory.
This season failures is a mix of all aspects of the club failing, shit management, shit coaching and shit players.
I said it when we made that thread between RS and JI a while back, Ibe for me will turn out the better of the too, his got his head screwed on more than Raheem and looks more hungry then him.
Disclaimer: And no this isn't all because his wanted to leave, like i said i rated Ibe better before anyways, although i do think RS is an idiot and should get a new manager because obv he ain't getting the right advice, but it's all well within his right to go to another club and get trophies because we won't be for the next 2-3 seasons at this rate.

Re: sterling contract
I think Raheem is merely exploiting us and it's our fault that we have fallen to that level.
I think it's atrocious to justify his attitude and motive, specially given his achievements while Liverpool has been too naive to consider every players to be as graceful as Gerrard or Coutinho.
This is a toxic situation and the only option is to part ways.

Re: sterling contract
Sterling's agent:
“He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.
“My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”
Ward has been personally blamed for Sterling’s decision to turn away from Liverpool and was heavily criticised when the forward conducted an interview with the BBC in April to deny he was a “money-grabber”.
But Ward responded to the Sky Sports pundit: “Carragher is a k**b. Everybody knows it. Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players - none of them things matter to me. It is not relevant.”
“I am not worried. Worried is making a decision not knowing what is going to happen. Every Premier League club will make a bid for him.”

Re: sterling contract
So that's it then?
Now arguably missing out on Depay makes it even worse. Where are we gonna find a prolific winger, Pls dont say Mahrez.

If these are real comments then honestly no amount of money is worth what these two knobs have taken the club through, two years on the reserves is were we should send this. Sterling sticking by his agent only speaks volumes of what he really thinks, the guy must be dumb as *bleep*, when the only people telling you the same thing are your agent and RA(ILY, i just had too) and all top class former footballers are saying the opposite, you really are a straight dumb *bleep*.

I hope they let Sterling rot on the bench until his contract runs out. No practice and no game time. Entitled, ungrateful little shit.

Re: sterling contract
Meh.
Sterling's agent is clearly a "knob" but just shows relationship between Raheem and Liverpool is done.
Both parties are in the wrong here.
Sterling isn't innocent, but neither is Liverpool in this whole thing. In fact the club looks worse off. Really should of dealt the whole ordeal better.
FSG will no doubt get "respect" for selling him at their fee no doubt when the inevitable happens, but we'll just spray the cash on a stupid replacement (where we really should just promote Ibe but anyway) for a stupid fee and just get played in the market again. And we'll continue go trophyless. lmao
Look at this from his POV:
His been at the club for 6 years.
His seen Rafa, Hodgson, Kenny sacked and Rodgers hasn't really improved us.
His seen Torres, Mascherano, Gerrard, Suarez, Agger, Carragher etc all leave the club and not been replaced.
His been told to carry the club at 20 years old with Coutinho pretty much.
His had a falling out with Rodgers. (Ben Smith was it? said he'd consider signing a new deal if we had a new manager or something.)
He clearly wants out. He doesn't see a future in Liverpool where it has trophies in it. I'm on his side here. We won't do anything with Rodgers at the club. So why's he going to stick around and been forced to sign a new contract and stick around if he doesn't want to be here?
