Re: Better Call Saul
I'm caught up. I'ts been great so far. Rhea Seehorn continues to be a ridiculously underrated actress. Kim is such a good character.

Re: Better Call Saul
Season 5 has been vintage TV. This show is among AMC's best. It's right up there.
Unfortunate that quite a few Breaking Bad fans don't like it.
Seriously - Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn must sweep the Emmys and Golden Globes. They've been phenomenal.

Re: Better Call Saul
watched season one, but it was slow to me. and it also doesn't help that i have an allround bad reputation of not finishing off tv shows these days.
I've left The Wire hanging on the wire up to S3 and Peaky Blinders as well
i think i can only watch miniseries, anthologies, and dumb comedies these days.

Re: Better Call Saul
Seasons 3 to 5 really kick it up a notch honestly. 1 and 2 are the slowest of slow burns because they spend a ton of time explaining Jimmy and his worldview. Later seasons start to accelerate things and really push him towards the character we see in BB.

Re: Better Call Saul
Giancarlo Esposito is primariy known for these quiet villain types nowadays, but the very first role I saw him in was in Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing and that role was anything, but quiet. He was loud, energetic motormouth that just came off as super annoying. He's been a fixture in a ton of Spike Lee joints and it really displays his range. Seeing him as Gus Fring just really amplifies that. One of the most chilling, menacing villains a TV show has ever produced.

Re: Better Call Saul
sooo, i saw it was on Netflix, just up to Season 3 though, and i decided what the hell i'll watch a recap of S1 and get back on it, and get hype man!!!! I remember now i even loved season 1, i like this show particularly because of the tight writing coupled with the pacing, the cinematography, and Bob effing Odenkirk being a great actor.
turns out it being slow to me as i mentioned in my previous post was just my memory making an excuse for not continuing the show. That being said, i think this is the type of show that deserves to be binged.

Bagman will go down as a likely top 5 episode in all of the BB universe.
That was extraordinary TV.

Re: Better Call Saul
Annoying that I will have to wait until May 6 for all the episodes of season 5 to be available on Netflix. Ridiculous ffs and season 5 was shaping up to be the best one yet.
Any other way I can watch the remaining episodes ? Only 6 episodes are available on Netflix right now.

Great article on Rhea Seehorn by my favorite tv critic, giving her the props she deserves
I caved and am now 7 episodes in. Will probably catch up before the final episode next week.

If you are a fan of Rhea you need to catch up ASAP.
This season is incredible.
I'd say she was the best of the season but Lalo just has too much charisma. GOAT character perfectly played by that actor.
I think this season has been BCS version of peak Breaking Bad, Ep. 8 and 9 in particular.
- SPOILERS FOR EP 9:
- Jesus christ the tension when Saul lies to Lalo with the fake story in his living room and Lalo just smiles and says "tell me again" when the story finishes. Between that and Lalo jumping to Saul's car in the desert he just gets better with every episode. That living room scene reminds of the apartment scene in Joker with the midget and his friend.

All caught up now. Epi 9
- Spoiler:
- A lot of open questions remaining for the final episode. We will need to figure out why Kim, Varga & Lalo are not characters in BB, and I think it will all end in tears.

nice had never seen it before the show.
finale spoilers
- Spoiler:
- Excellent finale, excellent season.
Lalo has been my favorite character since his introduction. The charisma and just how intimidating he is with a smile has been very cool. I enjoyed a lot in BB the scenes in the cartel, same here. It was good to see the "inside" perspective of Eldaio/the cartel through Lalo.
Really thought first that Nacho was going to die without opening the door. I thought for sure he would get caught on the way to it at night, then when he finds Lalo awake I thought that would be it. Later when the hit squad comes in I thought Lalo would die. They faked me out successfully twice in the episode.
It's sad what is happening to Kim. As badass as it was how he saved Jimmy in ep 9, this won't end well for her. Also RIP Nacho and Nacho's dad. Another great BCS character that just signed a death sentence.
Next season is the last one. I guess since Gus makes so much money for the cartel that they won't go after him, and we know they work together in BB, but they surely can't just let this slide without repercussions. Lalo at least will go hard vs Nacho and Gus regardless of what Eladio says. I think this talk of screwing Howard will end terribly for Kim, and Lalo returning will swallow Jimmy and Kim into the cartel mess.

Re: Better Call Saul
- Spoiler:
- Yeah, Kim going to the dark side won't end well, her speech about all the good that she could do with that money sounded an awful lot like Walt saying he was doing that "for his family".
Lalo is such a GOAT. Took out 5 special ops by himself, he puts so much together on just hints and has charisma in spades. Wonder how (or if) they will finally take him down.
Jimmy getting Gus' plan from Mike will also come back to haunt him. I can totally picture Lalo coming back next season and Jimmy blurting out "what? you're alive?" and tipping his hand over.
Nacho is done, Lalo clearly saw his absence, shame as he has been trying to get out for a while and only seems to get in deeper. Come to think of it, Nacho should've stayed behind and made sure to finish the job...

- Spoiler:
- Yup, Nacho is indeed donzo. Was always a tightrope walk for him, but it was always unlikely he'd be able to get away clean. Even if he had, he'd likely still be persona non grata with Lalo.
I'm personally enjoying Dark Kim. It's a masterful depiction on how even the most virtuous among us can be tempted and how all it requires is for us to tell ourselves that it's ok before we believe we're using that temptation for the greater good. Excellent nuance from Rhea Seehorn.

Re: Better Call Saul
- Spoiler:
- I’m a bit surprised you guys didn’t seem to be prepared for Lalo surviving the hit on him. Both him surviving, as well as him taking out the hitmen by himself, seemed like the most typical and likely outcome to me, and I predicted it the moment Nacho was told to open the gate. Lalo has been presented as too much of a crafty, resourceful character to simply go out like that.
I like most things about this show, but the only thing that surprised me about that particular part was when Nacho created a smoke distraction by heating up oil in a frying pan while he was on his way to pick up whisky. Everything else was pretty straight forward and predictable. Lalo taking out the hitmen by himself seemed almost inevitable to me when I saw how few of them there were. Good episode, overall. Can’t wait for next season.

- Lalo will likely survive BCS as when Walter & Jessie first kidnap Saul he asks them "did Lalo send you?"

Re: Better Call Saul
- Spoiler:
- that just meand that Saul thinks Lalo is alive. In BB after killing Eladio and co. Gus tells Hector that all Salamancas are dead. I dont think Gus was lying, so Lalo would die in BCS or some time after.

Re: Better Call Saul
Just finished.
Great show.
Definitely better than BB for me.
For me best season is the 4th season , my favorite episodes in this season
Is Kim Wrexler the best female character in a series tv ever ? Imo yes.
The difference with Skyler remember us how much is good the female emancipation

Yes Lalo was a great addition , basically an atypical Salamanca

- Need to begin to elaborate the idea of the death for Kim. It hurts because it is a fantastic character , but if she never appears on BB .... Not ready for this tbh
