Re: General Games Discussion
There will always be new tech around the corner, the upgrades you'd want to spend money on, as you said yourself, are not going to impact your gaming to the point where it's worth the money. If you want to "future proof" yourself, lay that money aside to SLi your rig up later on. There wont be any DX12 compatibility issues and DX12 will bring massive performance improvements in itself. I would expect a 970 with a 2nd addition later on to last through this whole console generation.
Devs and Publishers don't want another Crysis which was a critically acclaimed game (not just for the graphics which had DX11 features (in 2007, when DX10 had just come out) but without the performance optimizations DX11 brought) but with meh sales figures because of the hardware requirements. Most games are going to be multi-platform and as I have referenced multiple times - the PS4 and XBone are equivalent to a 750Ti. so 2x970GTX should be more than enough to keep you covered; I had did the same plan with my previous GTX 275 rig and the only issue that rig would have today is the lack of DX11.
The upgrades you are thinking about are ones I would do but my reasons wouldn't really apply as much, my comp is a Workstation first (1080p Video Editing, Recording and Special Effects, 3D Editing, Print Design with massive (100+Mpixels) sizes etc) and a gaming machine second so those upgrades would affect me massively but you not so much imo.

Re: General Games Discussion
Ok , thank you very much Phritz . Yeah , i really have no need for the new stuff. As for the rest , i will also do with cheaper options , however i'd like to to overbuild on the CPU , the difference isn't so outrageous . Need is one thing , yes , but the difference is only 100e and the i7 4790k is outrageously good and i never had an i7 , i would like to have one.
All in all , thanks for your time Phritz . Good news is , with the money saved i can get the ASUS 24" 144hz . I will get it last out of necessity , but i don't mind too much. Can't wait for this beauty

Re: General Games Discussion
So do we have any vita fans in here?
I have the OLED model. Man this thing is awesome. I wish Sony gave a shit about it and made some original games for it again. The only original games that still come out are indies and japanese pornographic visual novels.
But the ports and remakes of older games it does get are amazing on the go. Playing the shit out of Persona 4 right now.
Also Uncharted Golden abyss is seriously awesome

Re: General Games Discussion
Also fan of Vita, bought both models but sadly nowadays i just use it for remote play. Western devs gave up on Vita, only Japanese still going strong. To get good game ported in English though is another matter. Last game I played is Borderlands 2 which was a mess in everyway, nothing works. That was officially the end of Vita in Western market.
Maybe I should get 3DS for Fire Ember since Nintendo support is solid.

Shadow Warrior for 3.50€ on Steam... That is one hell of a deal considering how good the game is.

Re: General Games Discussion
Yeah you can play Infinite without playing the other 2. Would recomend playing the first one though. It's not something big or anything imo but it'll be much more awesome for you if you played the first one.

Infinite is the worst game in the series. But it's still good.
I'd play them in reverse order. 3, 2, 1. The other games just feel like a step back from the first.

Re: General Games Discussion
Lol I don't think many will agree with me.
For me, the story is so convoluted and makes zero sense and goes for a total pretentious mind**** just to attempt to explain away the massive holes in it. Like Lost the Video game essentially.
Linearity isn't necessarily a bad thing but it is for this game and the way it's implemented. The whole fun of the first two bioshocks was the ability to use all these different weapons in combination with powers to create traps and go about the complex level design in different ways.
That's really all stripped away in infinite. It's really just a cinematic shooter with a poor story. It's a fun romp if you don't think too much about it. But the first two games are just much better. 2 is a bit uninspired but it's more solid mechanically, and still has the well designed complex level layouts the first game had. 1 is a masterpiece IMO.

Re: General Games Discussion
Listing reasons would be nice.
I just don't think infinite is a very good game. It's good, if you ignore a lot of the problems, but nothing special. And does away with a lot of the things that made the series special in the first place. 2 rehashed 1 in too many ways but at least it still got the basics right, even if it was very been there done that.
2 is an uninspired game. Infinite is a fundamentally flawed one. The set pieces and hype, and action sequences do a decent job of making it somewhat fun but the removal of the weapon wheel and simplistic corridor like level design was really disappointing seeing as how 1 and 2 let you play through certain scenarios in a variety of ways

Re: General Games Discussion
Infinite was the best game of the series for me. Best gameplay, best story, best protagonist, best ending. Setting is as good as Rapture. BioShock has Andrew Ryan who was better than Comstock though.

+1
I'll compare the story to Inception, it's a decent story that's overly convoluted and complicated in an attempt to hide that it's just decent (However the story is told in a phenomenal way). But its biggest pitfall is that also the worst of the series in terms of gameplay. Why this CoD-like enforced limit of two weapons? Where are the different ammo types? The higher tier guns are just reskins of the "starting" guns. The upgrades are extremely generic. Essentially higher tier weapons, upgrades and enemies is simply increasing the numbers. There are less vigors than there were plasmids. I have never even come close to feeling the need to replay Infinite because I would not have a sufficiently different experience (When you add the above reasons to it's linearity as well) - I played the original 4 times in completely different ways - one of them pretty much full yolo melee wrenching combined with lifesteal as the primary combat method.
Don't get me wrong; it's a good game, but doesn't come close to the hype it got. Bioshock 2 still feels like Bioshock. Infinite feels like a poor imitation made by someone who took the CoD:MW series as inspiration.
I kinda want to add that this kinda leads to a larger discussion as to whether a game that would make a great movie can be considered a GOAT or whether that title should only be reserved for games where a movie version would be impossible to make because it misses out on the the gameplay elements that would make it goat. Simply put, are Journey and Tale of Two Sons the greatest games of the PS3/X360 generation or would you put The Last Of Us on that pedestal?
