He played LW, RW and AM at Lille...  roamed around.  Difference is that Garcia plays a possession-based system while Mou doesn't.  Contrary to popular belief, Hazard wasn't formed as a direct player.  Lille had 2 holding mids to recover the ball (Balmont and Mavuba).  When Cabaye was there, Hazard played on the wing.  When Cabaye left, he played more centrally.

Well, I know a player who is around the same age, has said way more outlandish things about his ability and the argument that is made for him is that;
"He has talent"
"He had a good game here"
"He's not utilized correctly"

You could say the same for Hazard in these instances, yet it seems people are a lot more critical in his case.
Not saying he has lit the world up, but it's something I've noticed.

Can you imagine if Benz came out and said "i'm one of the top 5 Cfs in the world" And he has more of an argument than Hazard does and by a lot...

What player is this? In any case he's being used correctly from what I can tell.

It's no different to how he was used for Belgium or how he was used at Lille when they won the league.

Izzy is right about Mou and Garcia' systems being world's apart though... completely different.

But it also shows that Hazard is pretty limited if he can't adapt.  He's not playing at a different position.  He's asked to play the same position more directly.  He should be able to do that effectively.

His issue is work rate... just very poor there.

i don't think hazard's  inconsistency  has anything to do with chelsea's style not suiting him .
he arguably  had numerous  5 stars games for chelsea .

his problem is the same one he had at Lille : goes missing for months , disappears in matches , average finishing , nonchalance in big games etc...

he's basically the same player he was 3-4 years ago .

And that should be a knock (not a huge one) against him if he can't even replicate a semblance of the player he should be on a consistent basis for Chelsea this year.

Sure it is. But Izzy... Mou made him the focal point. He was given the ball and asked to run with it. Mou didn't ask Hazard to play in a different zone or change his game at all. He just asked him to play faster and defend more.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if Hazard was asked to play more of a support role or take lower positions... that hasn't happened.

He sees plenty of the ball and has plenty of passing/shooting options. He's just not using the ball like he should or people expected him to.

And all that is not a problem is he hadn't called himself "the 6th best player in the world and best in the EPL"

yes considering mou builds the entire team around him and gives him the license to do whatever he want on the pitch with the ball, his performance is nowhere near the level which is expected of him. Thats a very good point.
He is the focal point of their team. He is being played in a position to get the best out of him. Other players would be moved around in the formation and some of them even must be playing out of their comfort zones I am sure, but no hazard.
So he has to deliver much much more than this.

And besides the '2 extra terrestrials' I dont think anyone is actually enjoying that luxury apart from him I think. rooney under moyes was one. but rooney is certainly not our focal point anymore since van gaal took over. where as in chelsea hazard clearly is the main man.

He goes missing in a lot of games( at times doesn't influence the match a player of his credentials should be doing) to consider himself the best. He's also inconsistent.

He's among the best, but not the best.

imo, Di Maria is a superior player.

It's generous to call a player who goes missing all too often "among the best".

You're among the best when you play like it consistently. Hazard is merely a very talented player that shows up once in a blue moon, or plays well against scrubs (and even then he is inconsistent).

He's not even at the Fabregas- at least Fabregas consistently beats up on scrubs even if he goes missing when the going gets tough.

It depends what you want. Costa, Aguero and Falcao are more specialists. Benz is well rounded... he can do a bit of everything well (even headers now lol); but he'll obviously not be as good as those guys in their specific specialties if you make a narrow comparison.

I'd agree with a lot of this, Hazard is like a highlight type of player and what seriously pisses me off is his lack of responsibility sometimes and consistency, for sure.

Last season around November time or so? I was hating on him hardcore for ages.

This season somewhat I haven't but that's probably due to the fact that Costa and Fab have been killing it.

Hazard has been frighteningly consistent since about December of last year & is constantly our best player in big games but keep regurgitating absolute nonsense.

The fact that people hold him to such high standards is evidence of his ability. He'll eventually deliver the statistics you stat-whores obsesses over. For the time being he's able to impact the game in ways only a handful of players in the World can.

An amazing dribbler, but should add more goals & genius passes to his game to become truly great.

At the moment if you can take away his dribbling, you have made him rather ineffective.

Sometimes people don't rate him seriously because he's really overhyped. But that should hide that fact that he's a fantastic footballer And cut those Sanchez comparations, it's awful to compare Hazard to him.

Anyway after Suarez went away there is not real clearness on " best player of the league" . I know if you make a similar poll in Italy many ppl would say Hazard, he is so highly rated here probably because he is hyped from much time here, when he was Lille he was rated as close to Inter from media just because Moratti said publicy to like him
Personally I disagree about his global judgement though, ok Suarez didn't score in big matches last year but I think the Uruguayan was top 3 in the world easily....I don't know how he can't be inserted even in top 6 . Less monothematic than Robben ( or more complete) , simply greater than Ribery ...
