Re: Hazard CONFIRMS he's the best player in the League
I may not follow this forum as much as I may want to, but does anyone here actually get frustrated when Benzema plays well? I know that Fußball cracks jokes about him all the time, I think Zealous [?] prefers Higuaín and brings it up often, and I know that Donuts finds your smiley-laden rants funny. Honestly, I don't even understand a quarter of your post. What is this?chad4401 wrote:Pippo wrote:The rampant disdain for Hazard by certain members of this forum is almost as odd as the raging fanboyism for Benzema by certain members of this forum.
the pain of benzema playing well is clearly hurting this forum , whatever happened you just going silent like normal? what falcao doing bleep all in a similar situation, makes every other fantasy bs logic, being throw around like a gospel moot? i swear you jokers think being critical for certain players make you cool, while being completely stupid all at the same time funny how dat works
also not insanely fanboyism how a player like hazard can perform on scrubs and be a debate for best player in the league and top 5 player in the world , bleeping kidding me?, that not raging moronic fanboyism good lad pippo?
while benzema creating chances and scoring, on next to nothing, gets treated like garbage daily is fair and legit criticism, that feverishly debating by deluded fanboys? yeah stfu pippo, this forum and its constant need to be stupid

At this point, I just think people are trying to rile you up. You are almost frothing at the mouth whenever Benzema is brought up, even over the smallest things; I think it was Fußball who posted a vine of 'Binzema' scuffing a shot and you got involved in an argument. Lighten up, man.

Re: Hazard CONFIRMS he's the best player in the League
Anyways, I think the criticism of Hazard is over-the-top. He clearly is one of the best players in the world. His performances at club level have shown that for a while now, especially when he is playing at his best.
I'm not sure why people criticise him for drifting in and out of games when it is a staple in almost every footballer's game. When it takes Leo Messi almost 10 minutes to get his first touch on the ball against Elche [?], you won't hear people bringing that up. The same criticism isn't levied on the likes of Neymar or Ronaldo [amongst others] from what I have seen on this forum.
I would say Hazard is a player who builds of moments in matches where he can just take control of a momen with his incredible ability. He has shown that a lot this season -- I never followed Chelsea last season apart from a handful of matches.
Hazard has played quite well in big matches, like the ones against Manchester City, Spurs and Arsenal. But he isn't someone who will dominate matches, that's more for Fàbregas. Hazard is the x-factor and he only needs to add more of a predatory instinct to his game before he reaches those top five debates.

Re: Hazard CONFIRMS he's the best player in the League
I think part of the reason might have to do with Gil as well. He specialises in polemics. But underneath the heavy layers of hyperbole, some of what he says is right, specifically this:
In the match against Arsenal, Hazard opened the match with an amazing solo-run, he almost forced an own goal by Koscielny [it took a point-blank deflection from Szczesny to stop it from going inside his net], and he missed the second-best [?] chance of the match. He won quite a few fouls, he forced the yellow-card for Chambers who was completely limited defensively and so Hazard attracted more players to him. It was a great performance, fully deserving of the man-of-the-match award he won.
In the match against Manchester City, Hazard changed the match, starting that incredible counter-attacking sequence which led to his assist for Schürrle's goal -- I don't know which one was more impressive, the initial outlet ball or the final ball. He was the x-factor for Chelsea in a match where Diego Costa was marginalised and Fàbregas was restricted. Chelsea should have won that match.
Last example, the Villa match. Where many people [including Hazard himself] said it was a bad game. I didn't think it was to be honest, he created the second goal which sealed the match, his backheel to Diego Costa set-up the 1-on-1 with Guzan which was only stopped by a goal-line clearance. He created a great chance for Costa from a cross having humiliated Hutton on the left wing, Costa mis-hit the ball. He mis-played quite a few passes and failed at being fancy more than once but he played a big role in Chelsea's attack and helped close the game.
I think some of the people here are just expecting something that Hazard doesn't bring to the table which leads to over-the-top criticism.
While he may not dominate or influence matches over the course of 90 minutes, he makes things happen in very short sequences that completely change them. Just three quick examples.Gil wrote:The fact that people hold him to such high standards is evidence of his ability. He'll eventually deliver the statistics you stat-whores obsesses over. For the time being he's able to impact the game in ways only a handful of players in the World can.

Re: Hazard CONFIRMS he's the best player in the League
Great posts, Pippo.
Also, I've noticed that a lot of the people criticizing Hazard(and some supporting) are misunderstanding that interview. To make it clearer to you lot:
"Are you a top 5 player in the world?"
Hazard: "No, I'm not there yet. Maybe I'm close but I'm not there yet. I need to do more and be more decisive in games....etc etc"
"So who are the top 5 players you think are better than you"
Hazard: "Top 5 better than me? *names top 5*"
Keep in mind: This does not actually mean he's saying he's number 6 right after that top 5 he mentioned. Refer back to the "maybe I'm close" line.
I thought that was obvious enough to figure out on first read but it appears a lot of you have just skimmed through or just completely missed that.
P.S. I don't care if you don't think he's top 10 even or top 20. But don't say it like he meant he's top 6. Read English and understand then proceed to criticize as you wish. Thank you.

Eh? He was the best player on the pitch until we decided to sit back after the opener.
Comfortably outperformed the supposedly much better Di Maria

Re: Hazard CONFIRMS he's the best player in the League
Honestly, what did he do besides ghost past a few players? Where was his final ball? He squandered and panicked when presented with Chelsea's best chance.
I agree he was better than Di Maria (by ADM standards he wasn't good) on the night. But even still, Di Maria had more of an impact even though he was positioned hugging the touchline (a position that hinders him less so than when he is playing as LCM). Di Maria was still attempting things, whether it be wayward shots, passes, and his inswinging FK resulted in our equalizer. He seems less inhibited on the pitch than Hazard, whether that is down to Mou restricting Hazard, who knows..
One moment that stood out was when Hazard was on the edge of our box, he stood still, did some fancy shifts over the ball then turned and passed it 40 yards backwards to his teammate
Hazard has his performances glossed over just because he can dribble well and ghost past players, but his scoring, final ball and overall impact in a big game just isn't there right now. Not enough to warrant him being grouped along with the true elites atm.

All I see is a player who can dribble well then play it safe with passes. Not knocking it as that is a great trait to have in a team. But again, like I said above, it's glossed over and exaggerated due to it being Hazard.

RED, Hazard wasn't 'presented' with Chelsea's biggest chance, he created that chance on his own, in a brilliant dribbling and one two. From that corner came the goal.
Hazard sure was better, and more impactful in that game. Di Maria was pretty bad.
But that of course doesn't mean anything with respect to their overall quality or rank, if Hazard plays like that in a CL final we can talk.

No...Drogba created that chance for him. His move led up to it, yes.
People can choose to see it the other way of course since it was a one-two.

I think this is what gets me about him. I always try and figure out what stops me from considering Hazard among the real elite of the world. It's this. It's the same issue I have with say Coutinho yesterday. Coutinho, IMO, was still by far the best player on the pitch but for all his magic he couldn't create a goal until the very end (from a corner no less, which was beautifully delivered but still).
All the dribbling, beautiful passing and ghosting only amounts to so much if nothing eventually comes from it. Yes, it makes them a dangerous player, but not elite. It's consistently getting results that puts them into that next tier which is something Hazard is still searching for the in EPL.
