Are Man U back in the title race?
This is a majestic performance by van Gaal's side. Di Maria absolutely outstanding, greatest player United have have seen since Ronaldo.
Keep in mind they've twice won the PL despite going winless in their first 3 games before. Just 7 points behind Chelsea now with Falcao & Shaw to also come in.
Chelsea have made a fantastic start but back in 10/11 they were even more impressive. GP: 5 W: 5 GS: 19 GC: 1 15 Points....before losing away at Manchester City who they coincidentally play next weekend.
Not all convinced by their defense which has looked slow & leaky and an injury to Costa and we're *bleep*.

How could they have possibly been out of the race by GW 3?

At this stage in the league every team is "in the race".

Yes, they are in the race. They won't win it. Chelsea will. But they are obviously in the race. Midfield of Blind-Herrera-Di Maria is very good and balanced and upfront they can choose between RVP, Rooney and Falcao. Winning this game United will only be 1 point behind Liverpool and Arsenal and 2 behind City. Not much harm done despite sucking in the first 3 games. Reckon they'll finish 2nd.

Good game for them so far. And its clearly shown that the 352 system in the EPL is rubbish.

Masterclass by United.
If Falcao n co clicks together
Di Maria is everything United lacked. He is a complete package with creativity, pace, vision, shooting, playmaking etc. Obviously Gil is joking about the greatest player since Ronaldo but it's United's best buy since Ronaldo probably.

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
Jill is obviously trolling but United are still a legit team now. Fletcher-Cleverley with Young and Valencia on the wings in the first few games didn't represent what United will be all about this season. Defense remains iffy but Herrera and Di Maria in midfield and Blind protecting gives them as much hustle and energy as any midfield in the world to make up for the backline tbh. The strikers are beyond doubt. Only Chelsea are undoubtly more solid thanks to Mourinho's pedrigree.

RVP is clearly off form. He should have been replaced, not mata ffs.

Next year Man U would be interesting. This year is a transition one imo. Chelsea, Man city and Arsenal are headed. 4th battle gonna be intense

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
Honestly, with Di Maria in our team, anything is possible. But I don't think we're in the title race this year, Chelsea are better than us imo, so are City atm. Both have a more balanced and a more adapted unit than ours right now.
Top 4 is the aim this season.
Next year and we're talking.

I expected them to finish top 4 and that hasn't changed so far. Title is between Chelsea (my favorite) and City though.

They pull an upset win and now they're somehow in the title race.

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
Top 4 definitely, title race probably a bit too far, but they have such WC players now.
This is such a strange feeling I get now, since I always hated Man U so much, but things are changing so much and now they got one of my favourite players in Di Maria, and a host of others and maybe more on their way, I may start to feel sorry for them actually

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
United have strengthened immensely. Herrera is bound to be better than any of their previous CM options, Di Maria is world-class and would strengthen any team, I've only seen Rojo at the WC but he looked defensively solid, Blind is a decent addition, too, and Falcao the icing on the cake. When you are able to strengthen like this, it's going to show, yet the title should be beyond them.

The title is going to be out of their reach I think but top 4 is definitely a possibility

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
If you told me a year ago that United would have a team of De Gea;Rafael, Evans, Rojo Shaw; Blind, Herrera, Di Maria, Mata; Falcao, Rooney. As well as players such as RVP, Januzaj, Jones, Smalling etc on the bench with van Gaal the manager I'd have told you they would win the League.
No team in the League has a better first XI than that and being out of Europe gives them a massive advantage over everyone else. I'm not even trolling.

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
Thing with them is that they are an injury to Hererra/Blind/Rojo/DiMaria away from going back to mediocrity. The only place they have depth is the attack and frankly without a good midfield there is very little they can do

Re: Are Man U back in the title race?
It's been said that Ferguson will intervene to help in penning down the deal that will bring back cronaldo to manu. For sure they will be a force to reckon with.
In the meantime, Madrid will have to endure a little more until the summer when Benitez is expected to replace Ancelotti.
